  4. Sunday, March 8th...2pm tip off....what say you?
  5. Date set.....see thread above...Sunday, March 8th. Tip-Off at 2PM....what say you?
  6. Thanks, Andrew...got you down as a player and coach. Several others posted here as well....any of those interested in playing, donating, volunteering?
  7. Well said Brett.
  8. Good movie. If folks haven't seen it, they should. But, I cringed at the depiction of LBJ's relationship with MLK. Anyone with even a slight knowledge of that relationship should have known better. Almost ruined the movie for me, and I have to wonder if this will have an impact on younger viewers who do not know the real situation between the two men? Sad that Hollywood has to screw things up so badly and so often.
  9. This....anyone who doubts for one nano-second, his respect and love for UNT simply does not know George at all. There is no hidden agenda, nothing "more to it". George wants more time for family. Who can blame him? His schedule has been horrible, and most folks would have thrown in the towel long ago. George bleeds green and is no bandwagon or t-shirt fan. Bill Mercer...George Dunham...two of the greats in UNT history...HOF-ers both! Like flyonthewall....I will forever appreciate the professionalism, spirit and love George gave to our program for so many years.
  10. Nothing more to it. Spoke to him after the BB Radio Show this last Monday.
  11. No way George would leave while Blake was still playing.
  12. Ok, the date and time has been set. For several reasons we had a challenge getting the volleyball gym this year, but we did....and the DATE IS SET FOR...SUNDAY...yes, Sunday....MARCH 8th with 2 PM game tip-off time. We will again be utilizing the Mean Green Volleyball gym in the Mean Green Athletic Village Complex. So...now that we have this...PLEASE go back to the original event thread pinned at the top of this board and confirm your availability to play, volunteer, etc. AND...I do need t-shirt sizes for all players and for those just wishing to purchase a t-shirt to help the cause. If you are just purchasing the t-shirt, I need the number of shirts you wish to purchase, the sizes of each and your color choice...Green, White or Black. Thanks... Questions? PM me... I will add to the original thread as we proceed toward the event. OK, folks...you in? Let's do this.....game, half-time half court shot 50/50 contest, silent auction...and maybe more! And yes, an after event with our highly anticipated awards ceremony! A fun day for all, and one that benefits a really great bunch of student-athletes! We need your help in making this 5th year the best ever!
  13. Early March...but super tentative at this point...may have to be a Sunday due to facilities schedules. Working on it!
  14. That's the plan if we can get coaches to agree on a time and if time permits...always best that way and more fun...you are Coach, right?
  15. Folks...we have a major sponsor already! Oak Street and East Side have agreed to be our major t-shirt sponsor this year! Please reach out to Jeff and John and all the great folks at these two fine Denton establishments and thank them for their support. I am thinking we might need to head to one of these great places for the after-game event. It's BYO Foid, but maybe we can set up for a Foid truck or two. How does this sound to the group? If the day works of course.....much depends upon date...I know...I know...sigh...someone get facilities at UNT on the ball and OK our date request!
  16. But, I think you would be perfect for Andrews team! Ha! OK, but you will have to lobby UNT90 if he agrees to coach to draft you early! I hear he can be had for a beer or two.
  17. You in? I know...dependent upon date of course...
  18. DATE AND TIME CONFIRMED: OK! THE DATE IS SET FOR SUNDAY! MARCH 8th WITH A 2PM GAME TIP-OFF! Please confirm your availability to play, volunteer and let me have your t-shirt size as well for the player shirts or if you just want to purchase a shirt to help the cause. Ok, so, time to start this thread. We should have a confirmed date and time very shortly for our 5th Annual GMG.Com BB game in support of UNT Cheer! In fact, I have the first silent auction items in hand...a #23 Jordan Williams BB jersey which I will have signed in time for the game, a bottle of Rudy's great BB sauce and a Mean Green Green Rudy's BB ball cap. Hey, one out of three ain't bad, right? Any donation of items for the silent auction are greatly appreciated and will help support our great student-cheer team members. Player fee remains $25 and includes the super swell GMG game day collectors T-Shirt. Players...be sure and give me your t-shirt size!! If anyone would like to order a shirt or extra shirts at $15 each, just PM me with your size and we can make that happen. The extra shirts will not have names across the back as the player's shirts will. So, at this point we need: Players Two Coaches Sponsors...any amount appreciated Referees...three would be nice Donors...again, any amount appreciated Volunteers...to help man the concession stand, to help recruit sponsors/donors Silent Auction Items Most of you here know the drill but we have a few "newer" posters who may not have experienced the greatness that is the GMG.Com charity BB game. Want to play, volunteer, donate, sponsor, etc., etc. just PM me and we can figure out what works best for you. Will try to accommodate as best I can. I realize without a firm date that players and volunteers may not be able to commit as yet, but that doesn't stop you business owners and staffers from perhaps reaching out to sponsor and/or donate. And, those who know they will not be playing can still have a role in helping with this benefit game. As always, 100% of the net proceeds go to support our great Cheer Team. Who is "in" this year...can we have our two coaches from last year back for another showdown? Those who have participated in any capacity know that the response cost on their part is very small...while the benefit to our student-athletes is very large! Would also love to hear from some folks with ideas...realistic ideas...of how we can make this event even better and how they might be willing to help make that happen. Now's the time...this is your head's up that planning has begun. CLICK HERE TO REGISTER ONLINE
  19. Just FYI....in the women's game against Rice, Rice hit a shot from about half-court as time ran out in the first half. Better FYI....neither Rice sqùad won their respective games against UNT. Ha! Greatness!
  20. Sure. Next time you have have a valid comment would you let us all know?
  21. UNT donors helped raise over $200,000,000 in the recently completed capital campaign....with 65% of those donors being first time donors. This sort of success will help raise the level of UNT's endowment. While $200,000,000+ is "small" compared to some other university recently completed campaigns ($1Billion at Okla State U), it is a record amount for UNT. Donations to athletics are "small" in relation to our peers as well, but that says as much about the donor base as anything else. But, it also indicates that things are beginning to change for the positive. Just have to move on past the naysayers and those that want to find all the negative and refuse to acknowledge the positive steps UNT is making. It just comes slower when you don't have a Mr. Knight or Mr. Gates or Mr. Boone. And when you do have a bunch of folks who withdraw support when the going gets tough. It's our history...it's our "tradition" originating from so very non-forward looking presidents and regents in our past. But, if one opens their eyes even so slightly there is plenty of positives to "see" and focus on that speak volumes for the positive future of UNT.
  22. Nice win for the ladies tonight. No quit in this team. These ladies can play defense...now, if they could only hit more of their shots. They seem to hesitate as if they have little/ no confidence in their shots. Keep shooting ladies...it will come. Candice Adams displaying some of the ability everyone expected to see when she signed with the Mean Green. Glad I was there to support these ladies...fun game to watch tonight, but still a tad frustrating watching so many shots not fall. Keep shooting ladies! Other thing was that it was nice to see a much better rate of success at the free throw line tonight. Well above their current FT percentage. Nice win for the Mean Green!
  23. Yep... Urban Meyer > Emmitt01* Urban Meyer > UNT90* *When it comes to any any college sports related issues. We'll just leave it with that and Emmitt's shoehorn.
  24. Just saw a tape of an Urban Meyer interview done earlier today...when Talking about QB's... When a guy is really talented but that guy is immature and doesn't use his talents it's pretty much a waste of time.. Note: I didn't put quotes around it as I am sure that isn't an exact quote...pretty close, but not exact. Hmmm...that could be said about athletes in general and people pretty much about the general public as well. But, was he saying that a player's maturity and attitude were on them? Anyone else catch this statement? If so...can you add a bit more perspective on the statement...he was shown just after his freshman QB was interviewed...related? Don't know...surely someone else caught this...was on during halftime of the NDS-I'll St Championship game..,I wasn't paying complete attention. Anyone?
