  1. Glad that "everything else" went well. I often forget to tell visitors about the band playing the visiting team's song.
  2. That's reasonable logic, and much better than the word "sucks." However, I caution anyone against making too many assumptions based on the opening game of a season, particularly when one of the teams has a new offensive system (i.e. no game film available). As for Hawaii, at least through 3 qtrs today they're giving Colorado a game - and their QB has more than 300 yards passing through 3 qtrs. If he keeps up that pace, he'll get a lot more against them than he did against us.
  3. Interesting "fact". Good luck the rest of the way.
  4. And this understanding was based on...? The Hawaii game?
  5. mmm ... tacos ...
  6. I'm pretty sure it's safe to say that broken bones in the lower leg are NOT a conditioning issue. I was sad to see you guys lose MORE players today, I hope everybody heals completely.
  7. TV guys said tibia. Speaking as someone who once broke his tibia, I hope it's the fibula.
  8. Link is up: http://channelsurfing.net/watch-cbs-college-sports.html
  9. Yes.
  10. 11 am Dallas
  11. channelsurfing.net ( but CBS College Sports Network isn't exactly hard to come by )
  12. So can we take away Dunbar's 68 yard TD run against us last year? Without it, he averaged 5.3 ypc in the game. Of course, that's still a first down every two carries.... ...as it is for 5.6 ypc.
  13. Thanks. It's quite a bit more fun being on opponents' boards than rehashing complaints on the Army boards.
  14. Not being able to defend against the triple option does not necessarily mean that you can't defend against the run. Just ask the man who coaches your safeties -- he knows a little about the triple option. ( In the opposite direction, being able to defend against the run does not necessarily mean that you can defend against the triple option. )
  15. No. We wore them once: the 2008 Army-Navy Game.
  16. nice article
  17. Wow, pay attention much? Did we wear them last year when we played you guys?
  18. We have FieldTurf; plenty of time for it to drain & dry.
  19. I'm guessing because the same thing was posted in a different thread. (I think it's the EXACT wording, but I'm not going to go check.)
  20. We were down 21-0 EARLY to Hawaii. We stuck with our offense.
  21. LOL at "If Army is a rushing offense." Also a good chuckle at Hawaii getting their act together after we went up 28-21. Yes, they scored on their next drive to make it 28-28. Do you know what they did on their next two drives? A total of 7 plays for 20 yards & two punts. One can also discount our short TD drives, but it's misleading to ignore the ones that WEREN'T short (below are from UH game): 13 plays, 75 yards, 6:54 8 plays, 68 yards, 3:51 or the drive which ended with a blocked FG: 17 plays, 74 yards, 8:11 as for the EMU stats saying anything about a dual RB approach, it might be a good idea to look at which EMU players got more than 90% of their rushing yards (hint: it wasn't a pair of RBs) the BEST comparison of our matchup vs EMU and our matchup vs you guys is that we had no film on EMU's new offense and we have almost no film on your starting QB
  22. Our offense is much, much better. Our defense is not -- it would be hard for them to be much better AND we're playing without our leading tackler from last year (out indefinitely with back injury) AND we lost his backup on the first drive of the EMU game. ( Our injuries woes pale in comparison to yours though. )
  23. This outside observer thinks that there are SOME things gained by firing a coach in mid-season. The most obvious is that the search for a new coach can officially being sooner. To conclude that this is a gain requires that we assume that having more time to make a decision leads to a better outcome than having less time. Sometimes this is true, sometimes it is not (I'm looking at my alma mater here: hiring Bobby Ross after a mid-season firing of Todd Berry was NOT a good decision). The next most obvious is that it can help cure any "poison" caused by doubts about the head coach's future. If he's fired, then all doubts about his future with the program are eliminated. Of course, you're really just exchanging that doubt for others. Lots of others. The third thing that quickly pops to mind is that the firing sends a signal -- win (and do it while meeting other stated goals) or you will not have a job -- and makes it clear to everyone that the administration is serious about the athletic program. Of course, the signal intended to be sent might (will) be misinterpreted by some (many). The only other good things I can think of really only apply in cases of gross misconduct or bad behavior by the coach, and you guys don't have to worry about that. If you accept that there are SOME good things that come out of firing mid-season, then it becomes a question of which "goods"/"bads" outweigh which "bads"/"goods"... ...and I think it's rare that the "goods" of a mid-season firing outweigh the "bads".
  24. BTW, bookmark Danny Wild's site so that you can re-visit on Sunday - he usually has his picture posted some time on the day after the game
  25. Come on, you guys did a good job on this last year. Roster is here: http://www.goarmysports.com/SportSelect.dbml?ATCLID=204983356&DB_LANG=C&&DB_OEM_ID=11100&SPID=4587&SPSID=48073 Lots of pics on Danny Wild's site: http://danwild.wordpress.com/
