  1. You mean Sidewalk chalk? "return it to the great status it once had. Small things such as chalking the sidewalks will return as well as some other changes that I will not yet announce. " When was this a 'great status'? We're not in grade school so why graffiti up our campus? Not trying to be negative but does anyone else thing that using Sidewalk chalk 'to change the organization and return it to the great status it once had' is an oxymoron?
  2. Keep this thred going. Post Chants Here:
  3. I just want to say thank you for joining and posting stuff. I see more quests than members using this website and I'm sure they all have valuable information they could be sharing. So thanks for not being a leach anymore It can be intimidating at times because people have been around here for longer than you, and you can bet that if you post something, some GMG nerd is googlin' it to tell you how you're wrong. But dont let that stop you cause Dumpsalot has been wrong plenty of times
  4. Well, you see this stuff at SFA/SamHouston and many of the D1-AA. You wont find this stuff at big universities like TU, ATM, and the likes. Again, if we want to be taken seriously as a competitive D1 school I think we must look the part and this certainly doesn't look the part. This shows the 'world' that we, as a university, have to put our Greek letters where everyone comes so that a) people will hear about the Greek system because they wont any other way or our schools Greek system is so undesirable they have to advertise anyway they can. Both I think are not true. I think there are classier ways of 'advertising' your organization. I have set up my Fraternity's letters on the field before and really I thought it was pointless. If we have a TV appearance I hope that they do away with this.
  5. I'm down with this idea...not so much the HEYYYYYY
  6. I like this idea. I'll be the first one to go....in the air that is
  7. One more thing about our 'new stadium'...KEEP THE FRATERNITY AND SORORITY LETTERS OFF THE FIELD. Im all about Greek-Life but nothing says small-time like having large wooden Greek letters in the endzones.
  8. Tortilla throwing = bad
  9. I dont care for either one. UCF only has a few box seats, if any, and Tulsa does look like a highschool stadium. I hope our new stadium has plenty of box seats because I would like to get one. The more we have the more revenue they will generate. Question: I see these stadiums all having metal bleachers, is it possible to get actual individual seats? I'm sure it would be more expensive but...
  10. Or we could do what we do now and that's nothing. Like Eppy said, I'm down with our chants, but the other 10K+ fans aren't. Just because you and the other die hard few think everything is 'great' doesn't mean everyone else does, so something needs to change. So we can educate them, but if they dont like them or think their stupid, they're not going to do them. And whats wrong with creating a new tradition? The 'traditions' we have now were started years ago and hopefully they didn't all think like you "Let's create new "traditions" so that we can feel cool".
  11. This says 4-3 defense. DD was 3-4, right? TD is moving to 4-3. Sup with that?
  12. Emmitt these things are great, but do you think the average fan cares about this stuff? Do you actually think they sit around and talk about boomer being the only functional civil war cannon...doubt it. Now they might if we actually put a cannon ball in it and fired it. And to address #2&3: None of it matters if people dont get on board and particpate. And if people would take time to stop attacking they would realize that the point of this thred is for NT to be original and not have to take other ppls ideas/chants/cheers/traditions, wherever they originated. We shouldn't be saying "I don't give a rats ass what your school does I'm gonna have some spirit about mine" but rather, "I dont give a rats...what your school does we're gonna create something unique and love it so that we can have more spirit".
  13. Bryan3:16 is crazy
  14. Thanks Rick...so should we just throw our hands up in the air and give up? If thats the case then I wouldn't have gone to any football games the past 2 seasons. Im glad that initatives were taken, but unfortunately no products were produced. So we have to continue to take initatives until something happens.
  15. Trud. Thats great...Thanks a lot. I will see what I can do, unfortunately it's going to take more than just my efforts, and hopefully everyone else would be on board, but I will keep you posted. Have you all ever seen University of Wisconsin?? They play the House of Pain "Jump" song and the freaking fans go crazy. The WHOLE stadium JUMPS up and down. I dont recommend we do this at Fouts because it would fall apart, but doing something like it. Using the loud speaker more with more music.
  16. Amen! Lets do it. Why not start a competition to have people create chants and enter them, then have an open vote from everyone to take the top 4 or 5 cheers. The chants could be for certain situations like: 3rd and long, going for it on 4th down, forcing a 3&out. I personally really like the ATM chant, its great, unique and funny, and insulting all in the same thing. Its sad that most our students/alumni don't even know the school song or know how to move their arms during it. I will say this...I think it's a great time to be at UNT. If we can get some of these things in place and can get everyone on board with making all these improvements, we can make UNT history and creating tradition. BUT we cant just post this stuff on this forum, somehow we must put our ideas into practice. Who could we contact regarding this stuff? We can choose to make improvements or just be complacent and wait for other people until nothing gets done and 3 yrs later it gets brought up again.
  17. I stinking love jeeps (wranglers only). My first jeep ever was in Highschool. It was a 87' Red Wrangler YJ. It had a small 4banger but I put a 2.5 suspension lift with 32" BFG Mudterrains on it. Then I put an incredible system in it that got me 2 tickets. I loved taking that thing mudding it was sweet. Downside = No A/C and soft-top. My next Jeep was a 97' Wrangler TJ Sport hardtop. The I-6 was much better. Instead of putting the big tires on this one I tried to 'soop' up the engine. Didn't do too much to performance tho. Still had a system in it though and the A/C was great. Downside = Vinyl seats that make your back sweat. My next Jeep was a Forest Green 97' Sahara, which I had my first semester at UNT. I didn't do anything to this one but drive it. I loved it! I realized I needed to get out of the highschool 'pimpin' phase and get a career car. SO now I drive a Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4 and I hate it. Cherokees have sooo many problems...the transmission shifts real hard, the A/C isn't good enough for Texas heat, the brakes system just had a recall, the door locks and windows frequently break (tho not on mine). I will never get another Jeep product unless it's a Wrangler. Thanks for reading
  18. What kind of Jeep do you have?
  19. What about the fans and students that dont go around sweating all the time? Maybe we could choose the color that looks good when people aren't sweating.
  20. A tradition is only good if people keep it. And by the looks of it it's not working too well so maybe it's time to start another tradition. And I think the Ole' Miss cheer is cool and I guarantee that if we had something like that here the students would get involved (even if it is cause it has 2 curse words in it). And whether the chants at other schools are 'dorky' or not, you gotta admit everyone does it and it prob. isnt dorky to them. Why find the worst example to prove your point and then compare it to UNT. I didn't hear anyone comparing us to the 'Gator chomp' or anything else. Yes...I still feel like a dork
  21. You mean the stupid one that says "and thats good for another mean green first down" followed by the rediculous eagle cry?? Is that the one. Are we that bad that we have to celebrate and create a chant when we get a first down??? I hope this is the first thing to go in the new season.
  22. I agree. One more thing they mentioned was: "San Marco sells itself. If we go D1 the kids that are going to UT and A M and sitting on the bench there whole career will come to Texas State." Which I also agree with. Yes I know they have made attempts to jump up to D1 but it seems now they have a little more backing. There are in their plans preparing to build a $6M baseball/softball complex. So you mention Title IX, is that only a D1 regulation because if not then they already have the sports in place: Basketball/Baseball/Football. And tho the CUSA makes no mention of expansion, it makes you wonder who they would choose if they did.
  23. Man you couldnt be more right
  24. Their stadium only holds 15K. At one time a few years ago, they were the most applied to college behind Texas, and ATM. Here are a few things they are saying about the Sunbelt Conference on their board...and funny, I must agree.
  25. If TXSt becomes D-1A they will surpass us in Football. I know they have more of a fan base and more school spirit than UNT. I am not being negative just stating facts. I think they are making all the right decisions and listening to what their students/alumni want and making the correct changes. Something I wish we did more of.
