  1. I have a question. If SMU hates us so much why dont we see any of their board members on our forum talking trash?

  3. It is also important to note that the population in DFW is 6Million in comparison to your 100K cities you had. Also important to note that the majority of the UNT Alumni lives in that population. Truth is, I nor anyone, knows what baseball will bring in in Denton. I personally feel that it will show well. I do not think it will show better than basketball if our team continues to win, but if they dont continue, then baseball will pick up. I think that we could average easily 600-1000 fans a game. I just talked to RV and he said he is delaying construction on the football stadium until we get a baseball team. Not really
  4. This is funny we made their list....and #2 SMwho
  5. I dont understand your post or why you're arguing with everyone on here about this. I have a better idea, when we get a baseball team why dont you grab some of your friends and go watch them. You win the argument! Case closed.
  6. Tasty, why dont you just factor into your average UNT home games to get a better picture. We cannot be riding someone elses school spirit and passing it off as our gain. I do not have the time to do this or else I would. I completely agree with Lifer. Denton will come to watch baseball, and whether or not you like it they are in the process of getting a team together. Maybe 25% of the other conference teams dont have a baseball team...but 75% DO.
  7. I was also in Austin this past weekend and the switch made the 10pm News during the sports segment. Got some exposure down in Austin thats for sure.
  8. I dunno....I think Big Green sounds pretty good. It has a nice ring to it.
  9. I would be in for one as well. I think this shirt would REALLY catch on around UNT campus.
  10. Do they not have just the Eagle???
  11. Soooo what youre saying is that it would bring in more fans than our Basketball games?? Each city is different. Denton is a lower income city where people look for cheap entertainment in a quality venue (so this excludes Fouts football games). That is why people would come to watch baseball. Dentonites have to drive at least 30 minutes to watch a baseball game right now. Rangers is an hour plus drive, they have no ties to Frisco or Tcu so why go to those games? There is more to adding Baseball than drawing fans. Its about having a well rounded athletic department.
  12. This is a moot point. RV has no interest in adding a mens soccer program anytime soon. KRAM maybe you should use your petitioning skills to get us some money for a new stadium.
  13. Thanks. I guess one is in the making? Sept 07. Just in time for the season.
  14. Does anyone know where I can get a UNT diving eagle metal car logo like you see on every other universities alumni's car? The mustang, atm, ut, tt, etc. Do we have any designed yet? I have had a lot of people ask about them but no one knows if we have them or where to get them if we do. Thanks
  15. I like this kid. I love his size. I dont care if he just stands on the OL and falls forward each down, being that big he is sure to be able to generate some momentum. Maybe he can show the rest of our line his diet plan.
  16. I just think establishing some tradition would really set us apart from the other SBC schools and then we could separate ourselves from the image of being the 'commuter college in denton' or the 'normal teachers school' and actually start building the image of a great university in texas with great programs and great athletics.
  17. Um...yeah it is called sucking Lets not make excuses for the lack of UNT tradition. We have been around for just as long as them, only we never set up any traditions early on like the 'Big Boys' did. Im not talking about establishing a winning tradition or a passing tradition or a running tradition or whatever else I have read above. Im talking about game day tradition, game experience tradition, school tradition, this is what keeps fans at the games and involved. I have been to games at UNT when we throw an interception and half the stadium clears out. This is what the other schools point at about UNT. My point in stating that ATM stank for so many years was that during that entire time their fans kept coming and stayed. The tradition kept them coming and into the game even when losing badly to teams. We dont have anything like that and I think we should try to establish something like this. A reason to keep fans coming to the games, a way to get them involved, and a way to keep them coming to the games even when we are having a series of losing seasons.
  18. TxDOT Stadium?? Has a ring to it. I thought this was interesting. Its from the Gaylor forum. " "Prolly right. too much competition for entertainment dollars and too little tradition. SMU will draw far better opponents than unt. Will anybody ever really go watch unt v. SE La. State, or whomever is in their conference? Doubt it. But I admire that they are trying. There's a buttload of native talent-- it won't cut into what Tech or BU is doing, save stealing walk on or a last minute offer to a project. " I think there is a lot in what these people are saying. I think it is very clear and should be to everyone that UNT desparately needs some tradition for our athletic program to be succesful(the OU forum was saying the same thing). Everyone says winning is the most important thing, well I disagree. I think its who we play and tradition. Look at ATM, they sucked for the longest time yet they had a packed stadium. We need some new traditions, because the old ones are working. Now on a positive note about have the talent. I think this is so true. I was talking to a UNT football player who transferred from Navy. He said that he came here because of TD and that when he was here and saw the quality of talent that we have here, he was blown away. He said he couldn't belive we had this quality of players and that our talent was FAR superior to what Navy had. He said we just needed a coach to coach them and that we now have it. We do need more depth in our rosters though.
  19. Hopefully his blood will soon turn grean....mean green.
  20. Exactly why UNTs campus is not that attractive, why our professors complain about not getting paid enough, why some of our buildings are not getting a major needed overhaul, and why our athletic budget is so pathetic. What is the fear about charging what the rest of the Universities charge? Maybe then we could hire better professors that adopt school spirit, have a more attractive campus, and increase our athletic budget so we can add baseball and become Title IX compliant.
  21. This is true. However, I was there all the years we were winning our conference games left and right and the championships and watch the school struggle with getting fans in the games. If winning was all there is then you would have seen after our first season dominating the SBC attendence climb and so on and so forth, but you didn't. All the years it was steady, unless we played a named team.
  22. I see them implementing a huge running game. Their size and strength will tire our defense.
  23. Better quality opponents. It has worked in the past when we have a quality opponent. Winning did nothing for attendence, giving away free shirts did nothing, giving away a car didn't either, playing SMU and Baylor did.
  24. Baseball used to be Americas favorite past time. For that reason alone, it's important for a College to have a team. Yes right now we cant afford it, but behind the Stadium this should be top priority for our athletics as well as the University. I believe there would be a great showing for baseball. Think about it, this is Denton, there is nothing to do in the summer time. If we had baseball this would draw a lot of fans. Also consider that we dont have a baseball team around this area that people from Denton are willing to drive to go see. Maybe the Rangers, but that might change if we had a team and played some solid competition that people have heard of. Soccer never was or will be Americas past time.
