Why is it that we have not recruited any size for our offensive (and defensive) lines? In the past or even currently?

What crack are you smoking? Look at the MWC and the history from their schools. Utah, BYU, TCU, UNLV, Colorado State. All of these schools give the 'big boys' a run for their money if not beat them in football or basketball. The Sunbelt is going NOWHERE. Sure we may have a team or two that is doing something never been done in the history of this lousy conference (ie Troy/FAU) but get off your SBC high because it wont last long. One of two things will happen - a) They will bail at first chance like we should have done a long time ago or 2) They will start to suck again after a few years. Bottom line is that the schools are getting their first chance in Div. I. The schools here have zero tradition...just look at their names ULamo, Ulafayette, Florida International, Florida Atlantic...it's pathetic. Troy will be the first school out and if not them then Ak St. Even the CUSA schools have tradition and some winning traditions, which the Sunbelt has nothing. And if they suck at all sports - Rice - their degree is VERY valuable. In this conference there is NO respect.

I watched the game last night on TV and wanted to share some thoughts. I think watching on tv gives different perspectives than watching from 100yds away (insert new stadium comment here): Positives: When the camera scanned to the stadium, I was REALLY impressed with the turn out, it looked packed (with the exception of the ends zones). I think this is exactly what we needed, a full (er) house for our 0-5 team to show all the players (and coaches) that we're (fans) are still behind them. So kudos to everyone who went and hopefully we can top this attendance with our next game. Do you think that maybe we had such an increase in attendance from our last home game because last weeks game was televised? Our defense, as has been posted on here, looked much much better, but this could be to the awful offense we faced, only time will tell. But I was impressed with the two pick-sixes that we had. Which brings me to... Negatives: Though our defense stepped up a TON, I felt our offense was struggling quite a bit. We only scored once in the first half and that was on a fluke botched play from U-lamo, other than that we were unable to drive down field. This concerned me a bit. With all the defensive turnovers we rarely capitalized on any of them. One field goal in the 3rd. and one score in the 4th. So realistically we drove down field 2 times. This has got to change when we face a better defense or else we're gonna get shut out. Our guys have to make some plays and cannot rely on Vizza to do more rushing than our FB. Just my thoughts.

Great post and I couldn't agree more. We need to educate our fans desperately and our band needs some new songs.

I think the more cowardly thing to do would have been to post on this board. Lets see, post on here so that everyone can rip him apart or confront the person in person and let him know how you feel. I give props to the coach for having the balls to do so. He could have pulled him away from his family I agree. But just like the coach is open to criticism so is every person who posts publicly on here. If you dont want to be called out and be humilitated by the coaches watch what you say. To the coaches: Keep up the good work and continue to persevere. Do not worry what is posted on here as you know more about what is going on then everyone on here.

Get lost Lifer and stop looking for arguments on here. Back on topic: My observations from the watching the game. I finally got to watch the game and take advantage of the new invention called Tivo. This helped my friends and me really assess the team. And I assure you it was quite depressing. Yes this is TD's first season and he needs time but watching what we saw would make anyone wonder how our players could even think that what they are doing is correct. We saw over and over again our offensive line get busted in by 3, yes THREE, defensive linemen time and time again. These linemen weren't bigger than our guys, probably just smarter. Our tackles got schooled left and right and put continuous pressure on our QB. We watched a few plays where their defensive linemen would simply hit and spin right by our tackle and pressure the QB. This was the most pathetic display of protection I have seen to date. By this time in the game we could only laugh. There was another offensive play where the left guard seemed to be completely lost by what was going on and started to squat down when the ball snapped Vizza started running to the left and the guard came up and took him out. Purely pathetic. There is a sever lack of discipline with our players and half of them seem to have no idea about what is going on. On a positive note: Although we are giving up a lot of penalties our team seems to be more disciplined with the personal fouls and controlling their tempers.

I was talking with someone regarding this the other day. Does anyone know how many of Dodges recruits are playing right now? Because by my assessment this means that we are still playing with a Dickey team only with a different coach. They are used to the run offense and trying to adjust to this new spread. MORE importantly though they are used to going to these big 'Money' games and taking a whipping without putting up much of a fight and just trying to get out of their alive. This is why I like Vizza, because he goes out there with heart and sparks the offense. Every scoring drive we have had in these big games have been by Vizza, whether or not they had their 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or handicapped string in. This says something. We need to get the Dickey players and their attitude out and get some heart on the team. Until that happens we will NEVER win any of these games and will struggle against an improving SB conference.

I need to express my disgust with the student section at the FAU game. I heard our 'fans' over and over again bashing our team. I heard idiots yell things like 'we suck' and 'meager you suck'. I dont understand this...its like our 'fans' are waiting for us to suck and make mistakes so they can say things like this. Is is cool to bash your team and school like this?? I wish these people would just stay home. Our fans are the most CLASSLESS fans I have been around. They start the Bullsh** chant when we legitimately fouled someone. Then at the end of the game after we had just gotten beat these two dorks with paint saying 'Eat Sh**' start trying to talk crap to FAU. Gimme a break. Then I was disappointed in the lack of communication between the cheerleaders and the fans and the band. Our fans have no idea how to chant, when to chant, or what to chant. Sadly our games are like an average Highschool game. And yes maybe we'll have a winning record against CUSA this season, but this isn't going to get people to our games or on board with the Mean Green because as you can tell from talking to people no one has heard of any of the sunbelt teams. Yeah Troy beat OSU, who cares. The average fan isnt going to come to the game because of that. If you got the program at the game they listed the top all time attendance at Fouts field, only one was against a Sunbelt team and it was last and it was against NMst (which jumped ship on our conference) for the conference championship. I think this is proof enough that the UNT students really only care about who we play and not what our sunbelt opponents records are. Someone mentioned that the students in their class didn't know much about UNT football and other people said they prob. don't know much about anything. Well I can almost guarantee you that they know whats going on at UT or ATM or Tech. Also, someone mentioned winning will get the fans involved: It can't hurt but it wont be enough to get the average fan to come. How many conference championships have we won??? And we still had this problem. Only then it was 'why would I want to come watch we're just going to win.'

What does it matter how large our enrollment is?? We still cant get people at our events or to our games. So what, so we're 'bigger' than Tech, they are putting 3 times as many students in their stands at the games. I dont think I would try to brag about how big we are until we can match our attendence at our football games. Plus I'm sure they are including all the 'satallite' students that have never seen the campus. BIG WHOOP! I would gladly have enrollment at 10K and average 40K at our football games. And lets face it higher enrollment doesn't mean more money, and esp. more money for our athletic program.

Perhaps a nice laminated card detailing the times to make noise and not too......hmmm....this may have been suggested before What gets me is the lack of education of our fans. They boo when we have a legitimate false start. They boo when we have blatant pass interference. They boo when we dont catch the ball because they think it was defensive pass interference. They boo when our receiver steps out of bounds and gets called for a penalty. BOO when its time to boo (like when the receiver catches the ball and falls to his knees and gets up to run again and its not caught by the refs)

Disagree completely. There was the one where he called a late fair catch and it rolled to our 1 yrd line. If you know, the point of a fair catch is to prevent this from happening. You call a fair catch and then CATCH the ball not let it bounce behind you when you're standing on the 20 yrd line to roll to the one. The kid froze up and panicked. Many ppl around me had a lot to say about this kids abilities, or lack there of. Perhaps he is the fastest on the team right now, but I assure you that when someone faster comes along he will not see much playing time.

Well I saw that the OU band and I recognized teh OU logo that they spelled out and loved the support they gave the school. But now when the GB of UNT got out there and started marching around I couldn't help but think that ppl were out of place because when you looked at them from the arial view there was nothing but people here and people there and nothing was spelled out and certainly no logo. Is it too hard to spell out UNT or an eagle design?

Sooner fans as nice?? How bout getting heckled after the game by a drunk guy and his boyfriends who didn't mind cussing at us when there was nothing said to him and saying 'hey what was the score? oh you can't count that high'. Or the two trailer park females that we walking behind us calling us 'poor babies'. Or my best yet: The white trash guy who did a number on scrappy. Maybe he was thinking that he was a football player and just wanted to take out an eagle. Then getting escorted off the field gets high fives from the other sooner inbreds. There was one nice person who wished us 'good luck' before the game. But as for me I have always disliked Texas but my trip to OU has now made me a Texas fan. I hope they get smoked this year, but sadly I do not think they will.
