How was the turnout?

It seems as though he has been patient for many years now. How many years will we be bombarded with the "just be patient" slogan??

There were almost as many if not more Ak St fans as there were UNT fans on the student side.

I wish that it was only size that counted, unfortunately it isn't. I would rather have a smaller guy that is faster than a huge tree that gets blown by each down.

You could also read the scrolling bar at the bottom of ESPN. Is it sad that I was excited that North Texas actually made the scrolling bar on ESPN?

This is ridiculous...I am sure that DeLoach has to go check with Dodge before each "scheme" that he wishes to put together, and even if he did I am even more sure that Dodge would say "you're the DC but I don't trust your ability to call the plays". Just plain ridiculous. But, never-the-less proves my point with the fire Dodge group, who is only on his 2nd season. You're comment about not having the manpower is my exact point about Dodge, who also doesn't have the manpower he needs or wants.

Because he has done such a good job with our defense? You're right he has really proven himself capable of turning around a team...

My thoughts: I have said it before that it isn't so much the coaching as it is the talent that we currently have. We desperately need some size in our O/D lines. Did anyone see the amount of time that Troy had in the pocket vs. us? We, rushing 4 guys and even 5 sometimes, gave them twice as much time to let the pass play develop as we had when they were rushing 3 guys. I have now come to realize that I think the O-guard/tackle positions are one the most important positions to an effective offense. So all that to say: So we fire dodge and hire some great name coach and pay him a ton of money....bottom line, he still comes in here with the same talent that Dodge currently has. I don't think the problem is going to be solved by unsuccessfully trying to teach a linemen who and how to stand up a rusher, but rather finding someone that has the ability to do so. Everyone was screaming for the old DC's head after one season and I said that he just needed to get some talent. My opinion changed after talking with a few NT defensive players who had no respect for Mendoza or his play calls, and now I am glad that he is gone. But I sure don't see DeLoach doing much either. Everyone said he is such a great DC and will turn everything around for us. Sadly, I believe many people are let down by his performance. Do we call for his head now too???? I guarantee you that next year's performance will be just the same as this years. I have forgotten what it feels like to walk away from a game with the confidence that we will win and I desperately want that back....but it takes time. North Texas is not keeping with the Joneses right now, they are trying to catch up to the Joneses after falling way behind.

I think this is great news. I hope who ever comes to do this job does it right and does it big. I cant think of anything better than coming up to Denton for a weekend and staying in a nice hotel with a nice atmosphere (restaurant & bar) in preparation for the UNT football game in their brand new stadium... This hotel is in a prime spot for people coming into dallas or ft. worth and if it is done right some people might even want to get away from dallas or ft. worth for a weekend retreat.

Don't forget prob the best reason is that we can move into another conference.

I have to ask before I get overly excited....is there anything pending with this vote? I mean any appeals or anything from the opposition? Or is this a done deal?

I am not. I have a couple of friends that are hall directors and I reminded them to encourage their residents and one of them said that "it's already a no, there are so many no's from everyone". The other said they have been campaining but the majority of the campus is against it. I hope it passes but i am not getting my hopes up because lest we forget... this is UNT.

I got a bad feeling about this vote. When money is involved people do irrational things.

Do we have any idea where the actual vote stands currently? (lifer) Maybe another facebook message could be sent out to remind folks. Because I was thinking about the pro athletic fee group on facebook and I wonder how many are no longer students and can't vote...like myself.

Has anyone thought that maybe we should go back to the 3-4 defense and incorporate multiple blitz packages? Also I read on here that last year we returned 17 starters, how many did we return this season?

What is the opposition count? How fast is it growing?
