  1. Coach Dodge had college experience too. Not to mention numerous state championships....how did that hire work out for us? There is more to making the transition from HS to college than just coaching techniques. The question of "how are the players going to react to being coached by someone previously at the HS level" has to be addressed. From the players I have spoken with, there were very few that believed Dodge had what it took to take this team to the next level and therefore it was hard for them to give their all for him...even though he had previous college experience.
  2. Ditto. Please, lets stay away from ANY and ALL High School coaches.
  3. Bring out the bike helmet.
  4. Last night's game was an embarrassment.
  5. Do you know why he accepted the same position at WKU?
  6. I hope we hired someone from WKU.
  7. I hope we did not hire someone from WKU.
  8. What will it take to get us into the "real" top 25? SDSU is #15 at 8-0 with a pretty weak schedule so far.
  9. After a 5-7 record???? Wow, look what we have been through. Just shows that the big school mentality is to win no matter the cost.
  10. I was talking to some friends and it began to dawn on me how TCU moving to the Big East will affect UNT and SMU. I think TCU has been the flagship school in the DFW area for a few years now since the national attention they have been getting by being in the top 25 and that alone has lured many recruits to play for them. Now that they are going to be in a BCS conference and will playing the likes of WVU, Pitt, and UConn at home, will this put UNT and SMU even further in the back seat? Will the casual sports fans in Dallas now root for TCU over any other school in the area? Even worse, will the UNT alumni start to direct their attention and resources to TCU? I am worried about the impact this will have in terms of enrollment, recruiting, and the future of UNT athletics. Please tell me that I am worrying for nothing.
  11. I hope so. I would like to see Tune start in the new stadium.
  12. How about we start with "Letswinagame" and then we can go from there.
  13. "McCarney named Rick Canales, the interim head coach, as the new associate head coach, offensive coordinator and QB coach." From the article above. Did we also hire Mike's brother?
  14. Does anyone else think that a "McCarney back pat" hurts? I could hear it every time he gave Chico and RV a man hug and all I could think was "how can I get one of those".
  15. Is the Coach's show on 100.7?
  16. Umm...I would take Boise, Fresno, and Nevado over SMU, Tulane, and Central Florida any day. But I would also a swift kick in the nads over Ulamo and Ulala for another 5 years as well.
  17. I don't think this is actually a Canales quote because the author is using the first person.
  18. Does anyone find it weird that Canales refers to himself in the 3rd person all the time?
  19. No. By accepting this position you should support the University and not bash them publicly. What would happen if one of the presidential aids did this?
  20. +1 These kids will learn to play for their university, current students, and alumni and not just themselves and their coach. I hope Canales will still hang around as it will only help the Mean Green.
  21. Maybe the bigger story is that this is the hire that UNT needs to get into a better conference. If that's the case...I don't care who is picked.
  22. They would do that anywhere.
  23. I gave you a +1 on this post they balance out now.
  24. gagree....some people can't get away from the past. Also, I would rather hire someone who is excited about taking a job rather than someone who will question "whether something better would have came along should he have waited". By the sound of this article McCarney sounds like the latter.
