Nt Daily Article -- Students Should Support Nt's Sports Teams
LAZER replied to Green Mean's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Traditions, Spirit, etc. does not come from thin air, nothing will ever happen without wins. We as students and Alumni need to do all in our power to pack every game with anyone that will come with us. With higher attendance at the games the team will do better (hopefully) and when the wins start coming the AD needs to promote the hell out of them to the point where it almost annoying (this will cost lots of money but in the end it will pay for itself). with all the hype from the promotions and high attendance the traditions and spirit will come. All of this is tied together and it starts with us...the alums and the current students that already care. -
ANYONE ELSE BLOOOOOOOOOWN AWAY BY STEWART????????????????

Upon further review no TV for UNT An athletic department official just let me know that there was a misunderstanding concerning North Texas game against Middle Tennessee being on Ch. 52. He was under the understanding that the game would be on TV, but was later told UNT head coach Johnny Jones would be interviewed before the game, but the game would not be shown.

The blocking style for pass plays is different then run plays. I may be wrong but this is how it worked when I played O-line in peewee, middle school, and for a short time in high school, generally on run plays you start in a three or four point stance (or whatever your school uses) and when the ball is snapped you shoot forward to your blocking assignment. On pass plays, you start in a crouching stance and when the ball is snapped you take a step back to create a pocket and you "pass block"(sometimes in pass plays you start down and then stand up and pass block). Then again this might be crazy talk i never played college or varsity HS FB. This explanation also comes from just watching football so I may be completely off and maybe someone can explain it in greater detail/correctly. I don't think we will have a huge problem with the o-line blocking style change because the players we have currently know how to "pass block" because we did OCCASIONALLY pass. They might need to work on it a little but we have a strong coaching staff to work on them. Plus I think the team as well as the fans wants to turn this team around so any problems they may have Im sure they'll put the work in to fix them.

I think everybody needs to chill out

Sounds like UT fans are not extremely excited about Riley and definetly don't think he should play QB. This is just part of one post on BurntOrangenation.com, but the rest same generally the same thing. Riley Dodge "Riley Dodge has been named the offensive the year [..] on the Texas Sports Writers Association's Class 5A all-state football team." From here. That's sounds huge, considering he has achieved that while being a junior. I don't follow high school football, so I'm probably missing something here. I can't imagine that these awards are crap, and 5A shouldn't be crap either! Why do you guys think he's not a top recruit? by Cyrus on Sun Feb 25, 2007 at 04:03:48 AM EST I had the chance to see him at the state championship when I was in San Antonio over the holidays. He was alright, but didn't strike me as Big XII material. I got the impression that he is more the product of a psychotic system that begins in Jr. high school, rather than any kind of outstanding talent. He didn't look comfortable in the pocket at all, he would panic and scramble if his first receiver wasn't available (which made me wonder if Westlake was the first team he had faced that was consistently putting pressure on him). His success came mostly in the second half when Westlake got tired, at which point I began to see those ESPN highlights I'd seen of Carroll all season. Also, it was in the second half that his father made some great adjustments to get his receivers open (again, its the system that wins those championships). by BrooklynHorn on Sun Feb 25, 2007 at 11:53:52 AM EST [ Parent ]

I don't think Riley thinks he going play QB anyway because they did not recruit him as one. Obviously playing for Texas is more important to him than play QB, and if thats what he wants more power to him.

For the record, I never said move him to a permanant reciever or one that plays often. What I was asked was, if Vizza does not earn the starting QB position is it likely that he may play alot of reciever in practice and maybe see a little game time. I agree that college is different from highschool, but it's just what he did with his future QB's at SLC. By doing this Vizza would lose a year of eligibility at QB but maybe Dodge thinks the knowledge of playing reciever for a year and learning the routes would outweigh one year of eligibility. (ie: it would make such a difference in his QB playing that it would be worth it. Not saying I think this I am just explaining myself better)

I know seriously, and for the record I can think of about a 1000 different posts/topics that were alot dumber just since i became a member not to long ago.

right when the marching band came across the camera my friend was the guy with the big trucker hat i thought it was funny.

I know the 2007 recruiting class had many receivers but does anyone think Dodge might play Vizza as a receiver this year? The reason i pose this question is because at SLC Dodge put many of his future starting QB's at receiver for a season so they could learn the routs better. this would be an alternative to red shirting if he does not get the starting position. Personally I don't think he will because Dodge will want to keep him around as long as possible especially now that Riley's out of the question. (not to mention in HS there is no such thing as red shirting so what else could he do with them)

yeah its a possibility, one of Riley's SLC teammates told me he has academic problems....
-
maybe they should..........or maybe I should (for fun not protest)
-
Todd Dodge knows his QB's and he appears to be very confident in Vizza's abilities. SO bottom line thank god this is all over and THANK GOD HE DID NOT GO TO SMU!!!!!!!!!
-
pshhhhh, we don't need him because we have VIZZA!!!!
-
Does anybody know if we are for sure getting the under armor uniforms? What i mean is, has anyone from the administration confirmed it? I ask because were not listed on the Under Armor website.....

I remember reading that someone wanted to see some video of the recruits; the MGI's from 2/14/2007 and 2/22/2007 have highlights from the signing day press conference with dodge. In the highlights they show video of Justin Padron, AJ Penson, Vizza, Marquis Davis, Jesse Desoto, Kevin Ealy, and Sam Dibrell. I may be crazy but i did not think the original press conference showed them........ if it did, sorry I'm a MORON!
