  1. Amen to that. Happy Veterans Day. Thank you to any of you guys reading this. Mean Green and a Vet? That is one bad ass...
  2. Eagle1855- don't push him down on the playground because you could get in trouble. Instead go after him in the stands at our next football game and then everyone will apologize for you and say it should be forgotten. Oh wait, you have to be a coach first to do that
  3. "You can tell a lot about posters and what they want for the program, how they feel about things, and even their semi agendas by how they react to this vs. their level of involvement" Uhm no you can't. My reaction to this is no reflection of an "agenda" or what I want for the program. I mean our offensive coordinator went after a fan during a game and an "apology" is enough? I am glad that an apology is enough for SilverEagle, sorry this is not just about him though. If you don't think that this is hypocrisy at it's best, run up in the press box next week, yell at RF and then come out on Monday and apologize and see if nothing else happens to you. I mean Cerebus if RF says that it was ok, should we just allow fans to verbally attack coaches on the sidelines or press box?
  4. that is a great point ntmsu....hell FFR was almost arrested for throwing a tortilla but if you confront someone in a threatening manner, an apology will do. we got our priorities backwards. keep the pressure on. an "apology" will not suffice
  5. o man don't make emmitt the AD...then DD would be around forever!
  6. wow- it has been a while since i have actually seen the excuses listed out. usually they try to hide them in a paragraph or something.

  8. This season is a failure. Some will see it differently but in my opinion, it is simply a failure. Now we can make all the excuses that we want but the facts are the facts. The question is where do we go from here? RF should be gone. I don't care if he does karate in the stands, he sucks as an offensive coordinator and should be fired for that alone. DD needs to be shown the door also. He probally will be here for another year and we will see the same lack luster effort next year too. Most of you will probally say that we need to give him another year after that too because hey you never know, maybe he could win District 13-3A or the Sun Belt (which one is harder, I don't know)...Thing is though, RV doesn't have the leverage to fire any of them. I think that after this season it will be either DD or RV. One of them will be gone. As a fan, I think that you have to decide who you believe can take us to the next level and then let your voice be heard to the BOR, President and Chancellor. These two guys won't stay together much longer. I'm with RV
  9. damn that Mr T reference was hillarious. there should have been a quicker response to that. any 80's kids on here besides me?
  10. SMU is a "catch 22" for us. if we beat them, everyone will say we should have. if they beat us, everyone will say the sky is falling and i would agree. we have to win the SMU game, if we don't it will set this program back a few years. being content if we don't beat Tulsa or LA Tech? then again, some of you do make an excuse for Dickey about everything. just for future reference....are we still a young team next year? just wanted to make sure that excuse was still useable.
  11. guys it is all pretty simple. you will not win the argument that Texas has a tougher schedule so don't try it. they don't, it's that simple. TX will make it because of where they started the season in the polls. with the polls accounting for 2/3 of the BCS then it doesn't matter if they played Sunshine State U, TX would still make it. besides do you think that the powers that be will allow TX to not make it and miss out on a TX-USC Rose Bowl? TX is in, USC has a harder road with UCLA and Cal left on there schedule
  12. let's just be content in being second rate for the rest of our lives. some of you seriously blow my mind. no matter what Dickey says, and he says it a lot...this has to be one of the easiest places to coach in the country. we get beat by 53 points and our fans are saying, wow look at the improvement. 53 points? i can't believe we are even having this conversation
  13. no I didn't watch the game because I can't get it where I live (CA)...but guess what...WE GOT BEAT BY 53 FREAKING POINTS! i don't have to watch the game to know that sucks. tell me mean mag, was the final score different in the game you watched than in the box score that I saw, because that is the only way I could see it being relevant
  14. we get beat by 53 points and some of you are content with that? i wonder why this program has not went anywhere in the last 50 years. man i hope this attitude at UNT changes. we are optimistic after getting blown out by 53? give me a break
  15. Emmitt- if this program was truly turned around and this was an off year, then I would be ok with Dickey. However this is where I disagree. I don't think that DD has turned this program around, I think that us being in the Sun Belt has done more than anything. IF DD was so great, then why was his record before joining the Sun Belt similar to all the other head coaches that we have had in this program. It was not until we joined the Sun Belt that we "started turning it around." To me, it just seems logical to realize that our success has come from being in the Sun Belt, not from our coach. I personally believe that if we started this trek years ago without Dickey, we would be better off today than what we are. I think 5 years down the line from now, if we still have Dickey...we are still going to be a sub par, non mid-major program. We need a coach to take us to the next level and I don't think Dickey is the guy...
  16. Everybody is entitled to their opinion and I respect that but man I just can't figure out why we are so content on dominating the Sun Belt. Seriously? I mean come on guys, how do you seriously complain on one hand that we can't get anyone in the stands and then on the other be happy that we dominate the Sun Belt? Don't you see that the two go together? Plain English: The Belt sucks. Nobody cares anymore about winning the belt. Maybe to a few of you guys, going to the New Orleans Bowl year after year and winning the Sun Belt is the best we can do but I don't care if we win the belt for another 20 years.....you will only see 20,000 people in the stands at most. We have to start winning our OOC games. Look at the numbers. We have won the SBC 4 years in a row....please raise your expectations. If you don't, this program will go no where.
  17. cerebus- we still could win the SBC....we haven't played our Sun Belt opponents which brings our offensive rankings and rushing rankings up??? i am not sure i follow your point
  18. yeah uhm why is it when you ask a good question on this board, you never seem to get an answer? i will try to ask again....what is different this year than any other year that makes it a "down" year? anybody, anybody?
  19. Forgive me...I am still not sure where the "down" part in this "down year" is....Besides losing to Troy, what's the difference? We get blown out in OOC games and don't compete against teams that we should compete against. When in the last 4 years have we done that, the lone exception being Baylor! I just don't see how we have ever been a mid major, ever! A lot of the problems I see come from the fact that we don/t know what we want. Are you happy with winning the Belt every year and then getting blown out for the rest of the season? We will never, ever build a program that way. We are like the Rodney Dangerfield's of college football. People have heard of us but we never will get any respect.
  20. i understand your point and it is well taken. i was wrong
  21. there we go- don't forget the excuses....the thread might not have survived without one
  22. you are way underestimating miracles. It's not that hard to win the SBC.
  23. This is a college football board. If you don't want to read negativity along with positive statements, then you probally should not read this message board. I'm sorry but when someone signs that scholarship and goes from high school to college then they have to be willing to accept what comes along with it. Also to say that the people on this board don't know what they are talking about is, in some cases, dead wrong. Someone's son might play for UNT and think that the fans have no clue what is going on but they have to remember, they have not been around UNT for 25 years and they don't have any clue about our history either. I have been around UNT athletics for a long time and I know for a fact that the players love playing for Dickey. I think that a lot of times that there judgement of their coach is biased because DD is a players coach.
  24. you can't always name a source. journalism 101 teaches you that. you come on to this message board and start throwing names around then the people that inform you of things are going to stop. cerebus- you are close to the program...would you disclose your sources everytime you post something? it is not like rocket science to see that we do not make adjustments very well at halftime. tell me the last time that we have been shut out in the first half, went in and made good adjustments and then came out in the second half to play well? you guys act like this is something new....
