  1. i see no benefit at all in playing a 1AA game. if we win, we were supposed to. if we lose, we are a laughing stock. i don't see where the benefit comes from. if we beat the team 79-0, people will say "oh well there a 1AA team"....i just don't see the benefit in it....regional game like TCU is where my money would be
  2. unt-appreciate the post. again, i think that the pit crew is doing some amazing things and they are great for the university. i commend any student group that tries to get out there and help...realizing that they are volunteering there time. i am sure that you would agree, a lot of people come on here and bash the promotions and marketing department...i just wish that some of those who work with these guys, would stand up for them every once in a while. i am not saying that you should feel that it is your personal mission to defend them at every corner, it's just that i have seen some post in the past (especially at the beginning of the pit crew) that have praised you on one hand and came down hard on the AD on the other and the members of the pit crew that post on here just let the statement go, i am not sure why. oh and the t-shirt money...it's been over a year since they let you "borrow" that, i am sure that they are not counting it into the budget
  3. I think that the Pit Crew is doing a lot of good things at basketball games and I am glad that we have them there. I wish that some of them were not misleading though on this board. Athletics DOES support them financially. How do you think that they paid for all of those t-shirts? They can thank Paul Batchelder for that. You shouldn't be so quick to jump on athletics about what you see as the lack of promotions for basketball games. You could give away all the prizes and money that you want and it will not increase attendance. Only winning increases attendance...again ONLY WINNING INCREASES ATTENDANCE! If the Mavs right now, were still the Mavs of the mid 90's, then American Airlines would not be the "fun" atmosphere that it is. If there is a lack of ideas coming out of the athletic department, then email them and let them know of your ideas but remember a few things: 1. It has to be cost efficent. A thousand dollar promotion that brings in 2 people is not a good use of money. 2. It has to be ok for the university to do. No Hooters girls serving hot wings and beer before the game and the basketball tailgating- you should just go straight to the administration to convince them of this one, athletics can't do anything for you about the liquor. 3. You have to have an effective medium to get the message out. Nobody pays attention to the fliers around campus anymore. The table tents are hardly recognized and the ads in the Daily go unnoticed. By the way....every single one of those things that I just mentioned are done for EVERY home game. They put up table tents, fliers and an ad in the NT Daily. So, good luck and I don't say that being a smart ass. I sincerly mean it, good luck! I am sure that Paul and Jamie would gladly accept any idea that would help North Texas Basketball.
  4. you must be real bored because that didn't make any sense
  5. e-bone is dillusional. he knows it. the guy just loves to argue. has there ever been anything that he would agree with anybody on this board about. the football program and the basketball program here are totally different. yes Johnny Jones has not won a conference championship but Sun Belt basketball and Sun Belt football are two totally different games. You don't take over the program from Vic Trilli and start winning big out of conference games but here is the difference...he does win the OOC games that he is supposed to win. we are not asking him to beat Duke and we are not asking Darrel to beat UT but we are asking them to 1) have the attitude that we should win and 2) keep it close and win games against OOC opponents that we should compete against and that has what JJ has done and DD has not! by the way- if you win over the fans then you are selling the program...who else are you selling the program to besides the fans? that statement makes no sense
  6. yeah where is the marketing department praise? you guys sure are quick to bash them the rest of the time
  7. i think dickey needs to go (couldn't help it)
  8. texas tech and then texas.....
  9. even for the Daily...this is just a bad article. His logic defies me. How can you say that the coach is not to blame but yet recruiting and a lack of attendance? The coach is responsible for recruiting and our attendance was doing better than in previous years up until the last home game when we were 2-8 and it was right after Thanksgiving. nevermind...it's nothing to get fired up over...after all, it is an NT Daily article. I am sure it is not to hard to be the sports guy over there
  10. Fulmer didn't blame anything or anyone in his letter. Now I wonder.....nah nevermind that would be to bold
  11. maybe it's just me....you talk about having higher expectations, the sky is the limit and demanding more out of our university.....are you sure that i didn't post this? this is all that i have been saying the whole time. yeah i think that you and some other people on this board are DD lovers and because of what you just posted, i can't be. to me, DD will not take us to that next level. i'm sorry, it is nothing personal but I can't defend a 2-9 coach on one hand and then talk about higher expectations on the other....i agree 100% with what you posted and that is why you will find me happily riding the RV and Dr Pohl bandwagon but your post above is the exact reason I jumped off the DD bandwagon a long time ago.
  12. also if Jones played in the calliber of basketball conference that Dickey plays in with football, then you could probally expect a little quicker results from Jones but the Sun Belt is not as pathetic in basketball like football
  13. I also don't expect our fans to be content with 2-9 like some tend to be.
  14. man, you have a "I Love DD" and "Higher Expectations/Unacceptable" t-shirt. That is like multiple personalities!
  15. Emmitt I didn't know you had any of the "I Love DD" shirts left. I thought you wore one every day of the week?
  16. Dickey was probally having a fit that we were throwing tortillas instead of running them.
  17. We could have a battle of quotes, this could go on for days, but honestly i don't understand yours in relation to this discussion.
  18. "You can't solve a problem with the same mind that created it" -Albert Einstein
  19. bait, bait, bait....i'm not even going to bite on that one. All I will say is that if Dickey had won a national championship, i would have a little more patience
  20. Dickey didn't raise any standards. Rick raised standards at the athletic department. don't fool yourself
  21. it's definitely a chance i would be willing to take
  22. i have to agree with Eagle on this..why say anything? when is the last time that you heard of a coach saying he would be "interested" about going to another school during the middle of the season? now all you whiners who always cry that the "parents may be looking at this board" or "recruits wouldn't want to come here if they read this board"....where are you now? our head coach has just PUBLICLY stated that he would be "interested" by another job, do you guys think that will help recruiting or the confidence of his own players? (you can begin your DD excuses now...)
  23. Ok the dead horse threads....those are just pretty stupid. What the hell else do you want everyone to discuss? I mean do we have some "big games" coming up sometime soon? Do we have any potential "player of the year" canidates on this team? How about where to stay in New Orleans...are we going there this year? How about the future of the program? Oh wait that is what we are discussing....if you think people are beating a dead horse, then stop reading it!
  24. holy crap, i misspelled knowledge....nevermind about my post, i am an idiot
  25. besides, your argument doesn't hold water...if you had football knowledge, you would look beyond the surface and realize the true reasons for our success the last few years, which i won't go into again here because it has been expressed over and over. just because someone doesn't agree with your opinion doesn't mean that they don't have "knowlege"
