  1. STOP THIS THREAD!!! It's time for a group hug......down in New Orleans!
  2. Is Dickey setting us up in case he decides to move on to another program? He's a good coach and done an outstanding job with the resources he has. But he really shouldn't say things like that on national radio. KNTU is one thing, ESPN is another.
  3. I was there in the mid and late '60's and it was know as the "snake pit". This was due to the large crowds in such a small, confined gym. It was a lot of fun.
  4. Geez, grade problems in college could result in a person being a criminal? It's very possible that I should still be in Huntsville, Texas serving my life sentance.
  5. IronMan4, for what it's worth, I was a Cowboys fan since the franchise started. With the exception of my tour of duty overseas in '70-'71, my Sundays were always spent watching and rooting for the Cowboys during the season. The it happened. Jerry Jones, the marketing guru, owner, former jock, and sometimes sideline coach, completely turned me off to the 'Boys when he let Jimmy Johnson get away. I have never forgiven him for that. Then the absolutely dumb coaching hires he's made, including Barry Switzer, Super Bowl win and all. Barry destroyed the discipline that Tom Landry and Jimmy Johnson had established on the Cowboys teams. Do I still watch them. Sure, when I have nothing better to do.
  6. Congratulations Reb! We are all excited about the Soccer Chicks' victory over Rice. Question, will the home soccer games be played at the Liberty Christian facilities?
  7. Darryl Dickey will make his decision on Saturday, 12:00 noon, based on the outcome of the gomeangreen.com poll that is going on right now.
  8. 2003 Best Sports Cities Do you think UNT's success had anything to do with Denton's improvement as a sports city? Were we not almost dead last a few years ago? What were we last year?
  9. From another message board. Baylor to name Drew head basketball coach Star-Telegram Scott Drew, men's basketball coach at Valaparaiso, is to be announced as head coach at Baylor at a news conference Friday, according to a Baylor source. Drew coached one season at Valparaiso, succeeding his father, Homer Drew. Scott Drew was an assistant at Valparaiso for nine seasons, including in 1998, when Valparaiso advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. Last season, Valparaiso, a member of the Mid-Continent Conference, finished 20-11, including a 62-60 loss to Iowa in the National Invitation Tournament. Drew will replace Dave Bliss, who resigned Aug. 8 after Baylor found evidence of NCAA violations in the men's basketball program.
  10. Uh, didn't the Sooners get pasted by a third rate aggie squad last year too? Yea, and I think the Sooners even made the aggie$' backup QB, Long, look like a B12 all-conference performer.
  11. Thanks Cooley. I value your basketball experitse and opinion.
  12. Keena Young, teammate of Kendrick Perkins at Ozen HS, could have been a real asset to the UNT BB program. How did we miss him? Keena Young
  13. Bob Hope passed away. America was truly blessed to have this man on earth for 100 years. What a great man. I'll surely miss him.
  14. OK, let's go back to the mid-'60's at North Texas. Fall of 1964 to be exact. -West Dormitory - god that place was awful back then. But I did meet many great guys, some of whom I later roomed with or partied with. And sometimes studied. -Curry House on Mullberry Street - it's called something else now. Ed and Gloria Curry are still living. They were great landlords. Great times and fond memories. -Oak Apartments - they sould have been bulldozed way back then. -Plantation House-great apartments back in those days. Not many were better than the Plantation. Great memories. After graduation, off to the Army(drafted 3 months after getting my degree), and then lived in Viet Nam for almost 14 months. Not much fun. Now I live in Port Neches, Tx, with wife and three daughters. Oldest daughter of the three lives and works in Fort Worth.
  15. Once again the City of Denton benefits from something UNT is doing. Wonder if the City ever entertained the idea of supporting UNT in all sports. <_<
  16. Right now we are tied for 14th, four shots away from the top 10. Here are the players' score cards today. UNT Golf
  17. Take a look at todays rounds - lot of ++scores for opponents that where higher on the leaderboard yesterday. If I'm reading it correctly, UNT has not teed off and is tied with one other team for 4th place. NCAA Golf
  18. Hmmmm. This is close to my turf. I might have to venture over to Houston and catch a glimpse of the Lady Eagles softball.
  19. IIIrd Time Out (Bluegrass) Allison Krause (Bluegrass)
  20. Looking at the linescore from lastnight horn game, it didn't look like Deginal Erskin did very much. How has he been doing this season and is he even a starter?
  21. CMJ, before Oklahoma, Tubbs was the head coach at Lamar. He produced some of the finest basketball teams ever at Lamar. I think he got the Cards into the Sweet 16 one year.
  22. It's official. Billy Tubbs is the new basketball coach at Lamar University. Again. Don't know all the details, but I assume he'll remain the AD also.
  23. Watching with interest. Hopefully we scored a direct hit up Sadam Hussein's @ss. Tomorrow should be interesting.
