I believe a better moniker for the waccy conference would be BWAC®, or, BIG WEST ATHLETIC CONSORTIUM To answer your question, the BWAC® name has "some" name recognition still left in it, thus it's worth something. If an Eastern Division could be formed with Troy, ASU, and ULL, "maybe" it would be worth looking into. Eastern Division would include NT, ASU, ULL, Troy, and La Tech, plus a New Mexico State for our guranteed conference win each year. The problem occurs when Frenso and Boise or Hawaii move up to the MWC.

Dear AD, I just finished reading the entire thread, "A Great Post By Cooley On The Negative Board", all 8 pages and 117 replies, for the past several days. I realized after reading all of these posts, that the posts by fellow GreenBacker and Krytonite poster PlummMeanGreen, required several hours to read and digest. Are PlummMeanGreen posts available in the form of audio tapes or CD's? Would someone like Books-A-Million, Borders, Amazon, Barns and Noble, WalMart, or Sams have these "Epistles" for leisure reading during the off season? DeepGreen

It wasn't but a few short years ago that many wanted to at least average 15-17,000 at Fouts. That was our goal then. Now our expections are to average 18-20,000. The key is "reasonable expections". From what I saw at the tailgating area last weekend, and the 18,000+ average we have going for us this year, I'd say we have moved our expectations up another bar. Let's see what happens this weekend.

I've been complaining about the size of our DL/OL for 5+ years. I think this is our achilles heel.

Brian Waters is a freakin "blocking machine". He's manhandling that defensive lineman.

These have to be UNT's goals for the next 3 -4 years. Whatever it takes, we have to do it. I'm not satisfied at all with our performance this year. If recruiting suffered that past couple of years and we are now seeing the effects of it(no quality depth), then heads should roll and changes made. I decided to attend the ULM game despite our record. I was expecting a smallish crowd, tailgating down, and a really bad loss for NT. I could not believe the tailgaiting going on regardless of how the season has been going. What a pleasant surprise! It's bigger and better than the first game I attended this year against Tulsa. And the crowd was really nice despite the record and the cold weather. And once Phillips was put into the game, the crowd responded. True, we lost the game, but that goes back to the recruiting and lack of depth. What I really noticed is how small we seem to be compared to the Tulsa, La Tech and ULM players. Size wise, we sure don't look like D1A. We need to recruit some beef that can block and hold a block; larger defensive linemen that can bust up those passing plays. Jyles should have been wiped out several times last night. We're gaining on it, but changes need to be made.

Hmmmmmm, 19,000 seemed a little generous to me. Neither side was full, so my guess would be 16-17000. Still a good showing by the fans considering our record.

I'll never forget former headcoach Matt Simon commenting on Corbin's muscular stature by saying "Corbin has muscles in his ear lobes". Funny.

Remember the doormat of D1A several years ago? Yep, Northern Illinois, the same team that we beat at their place when Simon was our coach. Well these guys go to league leading Toledo and beat them for the first time at Toledo since 1972. The amazing part of all this is that No. Illinois won the game using a redshirt freshman quartrback playing in his first start ever!

For one thing, we'd probably be outrecruiting ULL, ASU, ULM, MUTS, LaTech, Tulsa, and others. Conference USA is a higher profile conference that I'd like to be in some day.

First choice is Arkansas State. Second choice is UL-Lafayette Whoever goes, DeepGreen will be at the bowl game.

My choice would be Arkansas State, then ULL. And as long as either team is bowl eligible with a 6-5 record.
