  1. I honestly don't know. The only big who we show up on the lists for is Anthony Harris, but I'm not sure if we're really pursuing him. Hopefully there's a big looking to transfer out of a power conference school for more PT.
  2. According to rivals we've got a solid verbal from Thompson, a signed LOI would be much better.
  3. I don't know how much to read into this, but last week we weren't on the top of Thompson list on his rivals profile and now we are. I'm not sure if these are listed in order of the athlete's preference, but for whatever reason we have moved up on the list. Thompson's profile: http://rivalshoops.rivals.com/viewprospect...mp;pr_key=43918 I agree with CBL, we are going to run into issues if we keep recruiting players who only have two years of eligibility. It has worked so far, but is not sustainable. I'd really like to see us pick up a few good high school prospects in this class and next, I think Thompson would be a good start to that.
  4. Appears he can stroke the 3 and according to the article he shot 83.5% from the line, that fills two definite needs. If his 40 inch vertical is legit he could also provide some real athleticism. I think he should be a pretty nice addition.
  5. Both are still listed in the Rivals database as being recruited/interested in NT, but we know how often that is updated. I'm not really sure what that means, but I sure hope we can land Thompson or Smith...
  6. I agree, I'm not sure how that arguement can be made. Ben Bell came from San Jacento Community College in Houston, so obviously it would be a mistatement to say community colleges are somehow inferior to the competition. Also I'm pretty sure Isaac Hines came from Collin County Comm. College, so we do have a history of using quality C.C. players.
  7. I think J.J. is trying to get a body in here that can play 10-15 minutes a game and be a solid backup. I think he realizes it is late in the game and most of the impact players are gone. I think McCoy would be brought in to hedge our bets in case we aren't able to sign Thompson or Smith. McCoy would get us through next year and hope for an impact player to sign on for 08-09. I think we'll be fine for next year, after that I begin to worry...
  8. Commited, per rivals. Another one bites the dust...
  9. Same here on the guys in the paint. If we don't sign someone to develop this year we're going to have to hope to sign an impact guy who is ready to play in 08-09. I won't hold my breath for that...
  10. He would be a great pickup and looks like someone who can potentially replace the scoring loss of Cwat/KD and might be a little better rebounder.
  11. OT, That player they recruited that passed was Guy. I read some over the posts on their board and it made it seem like they may release some players from their squad that hadn't panned out. I don't know how that works and what period thart frees of scholarships, but that make explain their continued recruiting. Hope that helps until Cooley can give you an educated answer
  12. I'm pretty dissapointed at this point as well. We still are in on some great players, so I have my fingers crossed on those. I think they true sign of whether or not we can capitalize on our trip to the NCAA'S is the caliber of recruits we can sign in the early period next season. I think we can make do with what we have right now next year and still have a very solid season, but that would definitely be predicated on Colin Dennis being as advertised and really going into Williams/Wooden often. If we don't sign some players this period or in November, we will definitely be in trouble. Another note, while I like going after JUCO players to fill immediate needs (like Mccoy for an actual 2nd PG on the team), I think it is extremely important that we sign a few high school players who can really develop into 3 or 4 contributors/starters for us.
  13. I noted that they had 5 players signed, but one had passed away. I'm not sure how that will effect the amount of scholarships they have, but they should be filling up their allotment pretty soon.
  14. Per Vito - Fulce signed LOI with New Orleans...
  15. I think you may be thinking of Harold Stewart. Harold Edwards only played in about 15 games and had many DNP's towards the end of the season. I am sad to see him go though, I was hoping next year he would have a chance to show what he could do.
  16. We need a backup point guard! The problem with basketball recruiting is most of the top graduating players signed in the early signing period in November. I think we'll be able to pick up some nice players to come in next fall, but the impact really won't be felt until next season's early signing period.
  17. It was a great season. I had so much fun at the games this past season and can't wait for the next. I just got back from watching the game at Riprock's and it was a blast. I also want to give Coach Jones and Rich Young props for representing the university so well during this time of increased media attention. Thanks guys! Craig
  18. Time to get revenge for the New Orleans Bowl!!! I'm just happy we aren't a 16, at least there's precedent.
  19. Great pic! You managed to catch me there in the background in the middle...
  20. Yep that would be me...it was such a great game - too bad I don't have a voice now. Did ya'll drive back last night?
  21. It was great, sitting 5 or so rows behind the players bench and getting to watch them cut down the nets in person...worth every second of the drive and whatever crap I might get for missing two days of work during tax season...Also big props to the guys with the priceless sign (emmitt & ffr?). You guys really brought the intensity last night and I think the players fed off of that.
  22. If I had to guess I'd say 40% of the fans were ours, but from where I was sitting it was kind of hard to tell. It was pretty sad to see that maybe 10 students made the trip including myself and my fiance. Hopefully we'll get better attendance if we make it again next year.
  23. Congrats to the team. It was an awesome game to be at, I only wish more of our fans would have been there to see it. To see the looks on the players and coaches faces when they knew they had it wrapped up was awesome. I only hope our game is close enough for me to make it!
  24. I'll be there. Go mean green
  25. I can't miss my class on monday due to midterm presentations, but if we make it to the final on tuesday I'll definitely have to make that trip...
