  1. You do realize that most athletics programs operate at a loss, right? This is especially true when direct institutional support is taken out. I don't think you can judge the schools athletics program on profit and loss, that ignores the intangible benefits like additional exposure due to a successful program, how connected alumni feel to their university, etc.
  2. I wouldn't call Gonzaga, Wichita State, and St. Mary's (sweet 16 last year) weak. It also helps that they play in a much stronger basketball conference then the SBC.
  3. Yea, I always thought that was the problem, but I could never find a concise way to say it. Thanks for that, always gotta watch out for that latency.
  4. UCLA a 16???
  5. Looks like the students scored big in this one. Much better seats then at fouts where they get half a side and the endzones. Good for them since their fee is the primary catalyst for the stadium. Maybe the great seats and great stadium will encourage them to be season ticket holders when they graduate.
  6. Where does it show him as committed? When I click the link it just says offered?
  7. I don't think so. The day of the game it will probably say premium.
  8. If you have meangreen premium then the game should be available - it's listed under upcoming events. I believe we use the same Company as them and that is why it is available. Definitely makes the premium worth it. The basketball feeds have also been much better. No refresh issues so far.
  9. Yea - If we could find a Keith Wooden, Odufawa, or Shawnson Johnson who leaves a D1 program in the next month, that would be great. If not we definitely need to consider a JUCO. Even if one of them steps up, we probably need another serviceable big to make up for defeciences in the other. Preferably someone who likes to do the dirty work and shys away from the perimeter jumper. If we Robinson can contribute as a freshman, that would be great, although I never really expect that out of a freshman big.
  10. For our last three (thanks CBL) open scholarships I really hope we use one on a JUCO big man. Losing Odufawa, not sure if either Holmen or Edwards have what it takes to be a starter next year. Looking through rivals here are a few unsigned JUCO big men theoretically avilable: Kenny Buckner Averaging 13 & 10, with 2 blks and a steel per game. Not sure someone currently going to school in Idaho and originally from DC wants to come to Texas, but the weather sure is better here. Louis Green Avg 17 & 7 at a Cali Juco Some closer players - Demario Hines 12 & 9, 3 blks/game at Trinity Valley - currently shows no offers Leon Gibson 11 & 7 at Navarro If we could find another Tramiel in a player like these...then the sky is the limit.
  11. There is a link to the box score in the game recap release.
  12. Let's say we win less then 5 games, still think she gets both years?
  13. Us by 10
  14. He was a 3 star...
  15. True, he's the one I blame most for our depth problem...
  16. With Alzee, crutches and all first off the bench.
  17. I think the plan ia to do both. I also wouldn't expect Tune to get a 6th year because of the conference we are in. That leaves us realistically with two legitimate QB's (RD and DT) both of which have durability concerns. I think this year shows the need for more QB's.
  18. The difference is they run pro style offenses and we want a mobile quarterback for our system. Their 40 times are irrelevant since they aren't expected to run plays such as the read option that require the QB to be a legitimate threat to run.
  19. So Baine is going to be ahead of D Thompson on the depth chart next year? Baring another year like this one injury wise, Baine will be nowhere near high enough on depth chart to get into a game. Also this is not meant as a slam of Baine, that kid played his tail off when pressed into service.
  20. Not sure I get the point then. The students already have had their choice made for them, they pay an athletics fee wether they go to the games or not. If they had to pay again, many of them might choose to skip out. If I had to buy tickets when I was a student, I wouldn't have been at every basketball game. When you only have enought to cover school expenses, a crappy apartment, and food, sorry sports isn't nearly important.
  21. The students do pay for tickets, everytime they pay tuition, it would be unfair to make them pay twice especially since their fees are what is enabling the new stadium.
  22. The athletic department??? Our student setup is similar to most setups around the country. The prime seats you are talking about are where they make what little money we do in ticket sales, so keep dreaming.
  23. Always glad to beat UTA. We did some things really well, shooting the 3, free throws and rebounding. Definitely have some things to work on, too many turnovers. We also need to figure out how to defend the dribble pentration. For too often led to passes to and wide open dunks/layups by players under the basket.
  24. So are we going to start lining him up on defense so he can make tackles, sack the QB, and cover WR's? He's doing everything he can, but it doesn't matter if we score 30+ points if the D doesn't stop anyone and he shouldn't be penalized for it.
