  1. I think we should be spending more time thinking of getting NT past Ark St and Troy. - SMU was last week - Let's worry about them again in 2007. Until then, we need to keep this momentum going with some wins or at very least some good showings against Tulsa and Akron. The 'Belt is NOT a pushover Confrenece this year - We will have to play above the level we did in previous title years to win another one this year. This team is capable - The D will get better, and the O is powerful, and will only get better as they get used to having Woody at the helm.
  2. COWBOYS!!!!!!!! ...'C'mon Jerry, Damnit! We can use this guy, and I won't have to root for any new teams. It works out for everyone!
  3. Well, I ordered a Jersey this year, but unfortunatley, I'm going to have to wait until next year to sport a custom NT Jersey. Rick sent them out as stated last Tuesday. Most people who were expecting their jerseys by mail had them by Wednesday - Mine did not show. I waited until Friday, and when mine did not show, I felt it was time to call Rick. We agreed to touch base Saturday during the day as he was at the Pep Rally when I called. On Saturday, we spoke over the phone. We tried to track the package with the tracking number the USPS had provided, but on the website, we were told it was an invalid number. So after a little more dicsussion, we decided that I had the best bet if I went to my post office, so I did. They were completely useless, and couldn't give me any information on the package. After reporting this to Rick, he took it upon himself on a Game Day Saturday to roll to the post office he sent it from to find out what was going on. They were apparently equally useless, told us we had to wait for 30 days to file an insurance claim, so just sit tight, and see if it comes. ...well, yesterday (Monday) it DID arrive in the mail. The envelope and jersey clearly had something nasty spilled on it. It looks rather red in real life, but doesn't really smell like wine. It is quite sticky. Anyways, the stain is set, so I'm going to file an insurance claim to recover my money. Rick is helping by sending me the paperwork we need to file insurance In the end, I didn't get my Jersey this year, but I have to rank this as one of the best experiences I've ever had with anyone on any internet board. Rick is a first-class guy, and has been a pleasure to meet and work with. I hope to have more opportunities in the future to get together with Rick and the rest of the Greenbackers. Rick, THANK YOU SO MUCH for your help. You've gone so far and beyond, I can't thank you enough! As I said, if we have the opportunity next year, count me in for another go. This time, I'll just meet up with you to pick it up. GO MEAN GREEN!
  4. That's nice!
  5. Nice... still think the Politically Correct BS that cost them their mascot is a shame... but the new look is really nice!
  6. GO MEAN GREEN! WAY TO GO GUYS!
  7. Good find. I think stories like that are great. Talk about an ass-backwards way to end up with a mascot. I LOVE IT! That's the type of thing tradition can be built around. I wish I could make this game. Any regional TV broadcasts of this game?
  8. Yup... Woody seems to be the right man at the right time....
  9. Guys... when over 50% of the HOME STADIUM is rooting AGAINST the Home Team... the sell out means exactly DICK. You sold out the TCU and Tech game because TCU and TECH fans bought tickets. ...all that being said, this thread... ...has turned GAY. This is a good matchup and should make for one hell of a football game.
  10. Depending on a lot of IF's in that scenario...
  11. Well - That's sort of a load. I was in the Green Brigade in 1994 and 1995 and was a Drum Major in High School for two years. I can tell you this. The Music we played in Highschool was every bit as complicated as anything I played in my 2 years in the Brigade, and the drill marched in the brigade was woefully inadequite, IMHO. Park and Blow doesn't get the heart racing. ...and having to play some trite piece of music for the danceteam to dance (poorly) to was pathetic. I understood it at the High School level - Gotta sacrafice for the Drillteam - but at the collegiate level? Ugh... ...and for the record, Nick is a GREAT guy and one hell of a director, IMHO. When I was a Freshman and lost on campus without direction, he was one of a very few upperclassmen who seemed to care. He was an RA @ Kerr, and was a member of the Brigade at the same time I was. He is one the most talneted people I met there and could do anything with that band. Don't blame the director - blame the status-quo he is obliged to follow. Finally, the funding argument. I call horsehockey. UNT IS A MUSIC SCHOOL. Our Music dept should be funing the Marching Band to the point of excess because they are the most visable example of one of the departments our University prides itself on. The funing should not be coming from the alumni, no matter how willing we all are, but it should be coming from the department that has much to gain by putting a better product on the field. Our music department draws some of the BEST musicians and marchers in the state and around the country because of how awesome our music department is. UNT should spare no expence higlighting this fact by making the music, the drill and the apperance of our band second to NONE. Showing up in Austin looking like a 3A highschool band and having band members root for the other team is unacceptable.
  12. UNT 21 SMU 17
  13. WOW!! That one is scary... they really could be related! I Like Jamrio/Side Show Bob the best on their board! LOL!
  14. You rule... ...that is all. THANKS!
  15. I'm excited. Especially after studying our contest this weekend and the SMU contest. All sh!t talking aside, I think these programs are pretty well on the same level. I am so excited about the playbook we saw this weekend, I think that if we are playing a team we are on a level with (talent wise) we can adjust to anything they throw at us. I think we have a real chance at winning this OOC game, and earning a little local visability. Here is what I can tell you. Last year, I really felt like there was a lack of fight in the Mean Green. This year, I don't see that. These kids fought like hell to the very end Saturday afternoon. ...with that work ethic and a little creative playcalling, I think we have a lot more to look forward to this year - and this Saturday!
  16. ...hey, remember the year we lost to Texas by 65 points? We STILL beat Ark State and won the SBC? Tell you what there Mr. Comfidence. We'll see ya'll in a few weeks. BTW, most of your fellow Ark St. fans are pretty cool. ...you're a tool, and you're making a bad name for yourself and your school. ...Remind me to go on the Ark State board and wave my d!ck around when I'm feeling bad about myself...
  17. I agree 100%. I am VERY excited to see the game next week! Plumm - While I agree with your complaints of the overall program - and I would SERIOUSLY like to see an organized effort to begin to push OUR agenda at the University - I think, as fans, we have two fronts to battle. The long term battle, and the short term. This team isn't going to become top 25 overnight. I am very happy with any improvement, and after last year, a return to our ways of the past few years is the first step. We have to get back to where we were in 2002 - 2004 before we can go further.
  18. I personally like the all green uniforms. I think they are very agressive looking... ...DO NOT get rid of the dark pants... ...with the black accents - I wouldn't even mind Black pants with green accents. I like dark uniforms, that's just me...
  19. I know the score is bad guys, but there is a massive difference in talent. Look at the stats. Good passing effort. Some catches that we missed that won't be next time as this team gels... ...we didn't lose the turnover battle, both teams had 2 turnovers. We marched the ball down the field for an 80 yard touchdown against the National Champions. Equal time of possesion. The D was decent against this team and held Texas several times. Texas' O is much quicker than our D... Yes, we saw some silly penalties, but it wasn't constant like it seemed to be last year. We saw what Jamario has in him, and the Offensive line was able to give him room to play. If we can do that against Texas, we CERTAINLY can against SMU and the 'Belt. We SCORED on Texas for the first time since the 1992. Last year's team would have lost this game by 100 points. If you can't see the improvement, you aren't looking. Are we competiton for Texas? Maybe not, but I saw a lot of good things today. The real test will be next week.
  20. TTT for those interested...
  21. THANKS RICK! Mailed Jerseys go out Monday via USPS then? Thanks a million for doing this! ABOVE AND BEYOND!
  22. I hope the players don't see it this way. I hope they belive that on any given Saturday...

  24. How 'bout we start Barber, release Jones, and get Patrick a Silver Helmet with a blue star...
  25. Texas Tech... Twice in Lubbock. That was the last time, and that's been, what 6, 7 years ago now. Nothing recently.
