As much as I've been against the white helmet - those designs are pretty much 50% green, 50% white since the logo is so big. I could be happy either way. I think I am with you though... Green background, white logo. They both kick ass!

I've always liked the star on the helmet idea... but the swooping eagle is so "iconic" that it really would be the better choice from a "who are those guys?" standpoint long term.

So long as that monied alum's consideration for such a request went straight for our new stadium... I'd be OK with that... LOL!

When RV did that, the University was all over the place with it's image, from the top down. ...That is no longer the case today.

...a couple of other excerpts that might help around here today... Is it the eagle or the Mean Green? The eagle is still our mascot. But we’re the only school with the moniker “Mean Green.” Many schools, and even professional teams, have eagle mascots, but no one else calls themselves the Mean Green. Will we change our look in the future? Not for a very long time. We expect the new marks to be used for years to come. Standardizations, consistency and repetition are the keys to establish the respected reputation that matches our quality.

The NT Exes are not the University. This isn't the 60's. The chioce of the university to change the logo and make them the official marks of the univeristy DOES make them the official logos of THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH TEXAS. They are the "official" identifiers of the univeristy, even if you don't like them. I have said a bunch of times, I like the interlocked NT. Espeically in our font. I like the one most recently noted by Zeke in his sig. I love the NT Exes logo. I have it on the back of my car. I'm with ya... ...but this isn't about what we "would like to see". Rather, it is about promoting the image the University has chosen to represent UNT and creating (finally) an identity that sticks. This means that these spirt marks need to appear on our uniforms. I'm open to discussion as to how they may appear, and I'm sure the University is as well... but I will bet you a year's salary that any logo that is not in the current pallate of "OFFICIAL UNIVERISY OF NORTH TEXAS LOGOS and SPIRIT MARKS" don't make it on any new uniform, and there is no interlocked NT on that pallate.

I think when I went to school there, it was a little town north of Dallas. ...but there is development from the heart of Dallas all the way up through Denton. I think by definition, it's part of the metroplex. It IS a suburb, but so is McKinney, Richardson, Plano, Keller, Lewisville, etc... and they are all part of the Metroplex... ...McKinney to Denton is on it's way to full development. Dallas to Denton is almost fully developed. The drive from Dallas to Denton will look like the drive from Dallas to McKinney in a few short years.

Can someone show me an official interlocked NT spirit mark? Anyone? THE NT isn't even the official font. Good photoshop work, Smitty... ...but I think we need an official spirit mark or official font on the helmet that THE NATION SEES as North Texas. ...not YET ANOTHER friggin' logo.

We've had the "mean green" moniker since the 60's. This isn't a sudden change.

I don't see what the big argument is. The SCHOOL MASCOT is the Eagle. Always has been. Always will be. The Nickname for our Athletics is "Mean Green" (though, luckily, the truth in advertising people have given us a break). I'm not sure how that is confusing or a problem for people. Mean Green is different, easy to market, and probably the MOST RECOGNIZED North Texas identifier. Can this conversation please die? Ya'll need a hobby to keep yourselves occupied during the off-season! LOL!

Yup... happened 3 times to me. I finally paid my jewler to repair it right, and he put in a slightly larger stone. Never had a problem since.

I think the stripe is terrible. ...but whack the stripe, give me a black outline on the eagle, a black facemask, and make it metallic... and I'm there dood.

NO WOLVERINE HELMET!!! ARGHHHHHHHHHH!!!! OFFICIAL LOGO ON THE SIDE has GOT to be the choice. The LAST thing we need is yet another theme. ...I know it has some historical reference, but who would think NORTH TEXAS MEAN GREEN when they saw that helmet?

Lots of speculation, not much real to go on. ...I'm going to say this. I was one of the loudest screamers in the stands this year. "BENCH MEAGER!!!" ...it was the thing I said most often behind "FIRE DICKEY!!!!" I think with a new coaching staff, Wilson, Phillips, Tune, Meager and any Freshman/JUCO kid who wants to be the QB should be given a clean slate. I'm not ready to throw Meager to the wolves in light of the people who have been coaching him. I think any of the guys we currently have may be able to fit the bill if coached and trained properly. They all showed moments of talent though the season, each one with strenghts and weaknesses. Lots of things can happen. Woody may be better utilized in another position and may move without an argument. Meager may back off after a few concusions. We may get a brilliant JUCO or DIIA transfer. Let's just sit back and see what happens.

I don't think I care much for a stripe. I like solid color helmets much better. Cleaner look. ...regarding the interlocking NT logo - I like them personally, but since they are not an official sanctioned logo, I would rather see us go with an actual official logo and then stick with it so we can get some consistancy with marketing our mark.

I know you don't like the white helmet. ...I think the black outline on a kelly green helmet would be OK... the black outline on a dark green helmet gets lost. I think the black will set it off nicely on a Kelly Green Metallic helmet. ...and I like the interlocking NT but since we have no such logo in our official arsenal of branding, it should not be considered, IMHO. Let's get the OFFICIAL branding out there and then LIVE WITH IT until the end of time.

I like the current uniforms - BUT ...would be willing to make one more change for sake of aligning our unis with the new branding. Shift from forrest green to kelly green is fine. If we want to go away from the NORTH TEXAS on the helmet, then it needs to be "MEAN GREEN" in the OFFICIAL FONT, or it needs to be one version of the "son of worm" eagle. I'd prefer the full Icon, not the USPS head, but that's just my opinion. ...and finally, the ENTIRE UNIFORM should be GREEN. Pants. Jersey. Helmet. NO WHITE HELMET. WHITE and MEAN don't belong together. If the guys like Black, then have black pants and maybe even a black jersey w/green and white lettering. The only thing that should be white is the Away Jersey. ...and then NO MORE CHANGES - EVER!!!! ...so that means we have to go with something classic so it won't look dated in 10 years.
