Has anyone seen or gotten a picture of the actual thing yet? -

NT - 35 FAU - 27 Our defense gives up too many big plays. ...with the exception of Arkansas and maybe Navy, we can put 35 up against anyone else on our schedule. ...the question is can we keep the other guy from scoring 35 on us? ...here's hopin' we see massive improvement next week in this dept. ...and isn't it glad we're predicting scores that don't start with a "1" these days?

I don't see how we compete for the crown this year... I LOVE where the team is headed, but we have league mates who are beating and hanging with ranked and other bigger OOC schools. The level of competition is the highest ever in the belt this year. We have to be better than we were when we were tearing up the league 4 years straight, and we aren't yet... probably won't be this year.

2 in the top 20... Nice... -
That's a pretty fair article. Nice post!

ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ...you'd have to be an admin on your own board to find that funny, probably, but that's just uberclassic! I feel your pain brother.

Speaking of the PA, is anyone as sick of Bob's Steak and Chophouse as I am?

I totally agree. "Standing" in a section should be a group decision, not one made by a few. If you are in a section where everyone else is sitting, you should show some common courtesy and either move to a section where people are standing, or sit down. ...and it shouldn't take someone telling you to sit. This is a common courtesy type of thing. Look around you, and don't be obnoxious!

I don't think anyone is saying they don't care. ...but what people are saying is that there were some extenuating circumstances here - First, we had no D all night. Daniel was playing catch up almost all night long, and not because he wasn't performing well. Second, we had virtually no running game. This has to be addressed quickly if we are to expect Meager to be the performer we want - He is under pressure 100% of the time without a running game. Third, I KNOW how he felt after the game. He was angry with himself about the interceptions. He made no excuses. He hung them on himself, and didn't make any "well, if this had been different" excuses. This has to count for something.

It is too early to play "The Blame Game"... The Defense is bad, no doubt, but this is a group trying to play an whole new scheme, and I don't see any lack of effort on the field. I agree that the coaching staff needs to make some sheme & playcall adjustments. I agree that tackling needs to be worked on BIG TIME this season... (Tackle with your arms and whole body, not just your shoulder) ...but to start pinning this on any of the players specifically right now is just premature.

Ford is a great place to watch a ballgame. Just duplicate it in our architecture style, and KEEP THE SEATBACKS!!! ...and a little steeper pitch would be nice too...

WOAH!!! He should have had 5? Pull back on the reins there, buckaroo! I have been one of the most vocal Anti-Meager people on this board, and in the stands. ...but I was willing to wipe the slate clean with all the changes and give the guy a legitimate shot. ...and I'm ALMOST ready to call myself a Meager Fan now. A couple of more performances from him like the two I've seen so far this season, and I'll be backing him 100%. ...but a 1 int to 20 pass ratio is too high. To argue that 3 INT's is GOOD is just evidence of a blind Meager fan. The kid has what it takes to run this scheme. ...he started to get excited and threw a couple of bad passes when the heart got to pounding... (I know his was, mine was, and I was sitting on my rear in the stands...) ...and I can't fault him for that. Hopefully with a few more games like this (being right in it at the end) will get him the experience he needs to get over this problem. The kid has A LOT of heart, and has earned my respect, but let's not forgive 3 interceptions (2 in so many possessions) so easily.

They are simply echoing the truth...

Same here... NOTHING to be sad about tonight. We were two big plays away from the upset, and watching the game was a blast. ...a Dickey team would have rolled up in a corner and cried going into the 4th two scores down. This team rallied and tied the game. We're still rough around the edges, and you can tell there is still some major learning going on, but we're in for a treat once this all starts to click. Thank you coach Todd, and THANK YOU MEAN GREEN! What a great group of guys. Smiles all around, true effort until the last snap - this team was a joy to watch and cheer for tonight! GO MEAN GREEN!

Aside from the childish personal attacks, this is a GREAT THREAD!!! First, let me address the "Criticism of the Players" discussion - These gentlemen are college football players. They signed up for this, I assume, having watched football, college and otherwise, all their lives. Criticism from teammates, coaches, parents and yes, even fans is just part of the territory. If you're going to take a scholarship and agree to represent the University in exchange for something, you're a fair target for critics. This may even include people evaluating your performance and giving their opinions as to whether or not you should play next week, be the starter, etc. What is NOT fair to expect, nor is it fair for anyone to expect they lay down and take, are personal attacks on these kids who go out there every week and do their best. Criticize the skills, not their person. If you're a parent of a player or a player who doesn't feel the above statement is fair, I'd love to hear from you - I might be willing to change my mind, but please have a real good argument... Second, I want to talk about THIS TEAM. I am more proud of this team than I think I ever have been of a team since I've been following NT football. This team went out Saturday night and never gave up. Meager (whom I have been a loud critic of) and Vizza ran the offense better than I have seen it run since I started school here in 1994. Points were not scored, mistakes were made, but passes were accurate, penalties were light given the circumstances (a 180 from the Dickey era) and I saw a bunch of kids PLAYING football all the way to the end. When a little progress was made, I saw smiles on the faces of the players. They didn't give up. They didn't get frustrated. They understood what they were against and tried anyways. You can be critical of Roman, the whipping boy of the moment, in relation to how he performed and stacked up against a taller faster OU team, but don't question his effort and his heart. He ran as hard as he could against these guys. Meager was out of the pocket and looked in command even when he was on the run. So did Vizza. The D-line looked decent. This team compared to Oklahoma was out gunned and out manned. Compared to the UNT team we saw on the field last year in black jerseys, these guys look like giants. I am looking forward to this season, and this game Saturday will be a real test.

...and there is Smitty with the always rational and well thought out response. Right on my friend, great post! Guys, relax. We'll get the respect we want once it is earned. Despite a thrumping on the scoreboard Saturday, I am still a firm believer in what this system can do for our program.

We're going to lose. I don't know the score... ...but for the first time in a LONG TIME - It won't be for lack of TRYING TO WIN! No matter what the score - if the heart and the effort is back, I can live with it. GO MEAN GREEN!

I was amoung the biggest A-Holes about Meager last year. I was one of the people who called on this board AND at the games for Meager to be benched. (I think I pissed off his girlfriend one week... turns out she and his family were sitting a few rows ahead of us...) ...that being said, I'm perfectly willing to admit the following: 1. He may be much better than the system he was playing in last year would make you think he is. 2. He may be a much better player being coached by the right staff with the right style. 3. I will get behind him at the start of this season. However - I'm looking for something in this kid. If I don't see it, I'll be the first one on here calling for a change. This whole season is about change and renewal. IF Meager proves that he doesn't have it (and performing the way he did last season will be proof enough) then it will be time for a change.

Thanks for keeping on top of this, Rick! (no interlocked NT logo though... ...sorry, had to rib ya!) Can't wait to get my Jersey!

The Alamo is in Denton? Huh?

Green is what I like better... ...but whatever makes them play better, and whatever the TEAM wants, I'll support. ...but let's stick with it once we get going...

Espn Conference Predictions For This Year
yyz28 replied to Will to Win's topic in Mean Green Football
Good... let 'em prognosticate. It just makes the performance we are going to have this year seem more "out of nowhwere, and will meke them look like the schmucks without a clue they are.
