  1. Interesting post. I agree with your QB assessment. I haven't been that impressed with Vizza - I don't find him to be any better than Meager to be honest. He's as good. He has a better long ball, doesn't float long passes, which was Meager's biggest problem, but Meager seemed to be more accurate. ...I don't think I can get on board with the rest of your statement however. If Riley starts next year, I believe it WILL be because he is our best option, not because he is the Coach's kid. ...and the people and players that work with and play for coach Dodge can't all be wrong. We would have to have been snowed in the most elaborate and well executed scam if Dodge wasn't what was presented to us, because the message of "who this guy is" was loud and clear from many diverse sources from day one. ...His ability to build a good College level program and staff remains to be seen, but I think the signs are there and are positive. I wouldn't be so quick to throw this guy under the bus personally simply because we've lost 6 games. Critique the football, but don't attack people personally.
  2. Pure Greatness... ...I could even hear the song in the background. LOL!
  3. Wal-Mart has 'em in Green! Thought I'd share.
  4. Ok... one followup stupid question - Does anyone sell North Texas EZ-UP's or canopys? I've been meaning to pick one up, so I might as well get one with our logo if I can get my hands on one. Thanks!
  5. We'll be out there - Stop on by, and have a brew or two...
  6. I'm there +2 or 4.
  7. The WAC issue is so difficult to quantify. The positives are obvious. The Negatives are a little less obvious, but none the less, important. The travel expenses for the team aren't that big of an issue which has been pretty well documented. The ability for an NT (or LaTech) fan to travel to away games becomes a bigger issue in the WAC than it is now, or than it would be in CUSA. If Boise LEAVES the WAC, than the WAC is no stronger than the 'belt, espeically with the improved play of the 'Belt teams of late. The automatic respect we would get by not being in the 'Belt would be overshadowed by the instability in the WAC. I've been back and forth on this one, but I think in light of where our program is now and where the 'Belt seems to be heading, our administration has done the right thing by keeping us out of the WAC for the time being.
  8. For the verteran tail-gater's - How early do you need to show up to get a spot in the Orange lot? We've never had a chance to do the tailgate thing, and were looking to come early this Saturday! Thanks!
  9. Guys.. She's a sociology professor. We shouldn't be taking her even THIS seriously. ...and the Endangered Fry Street Squirl is AWESOME!
  10. I think if you have DirecTV you'll get the game - on Sports South I think. I don't know if Dish or FIOS gets it. I know Uverse and Time Warner do not locally (in DFW).
  11. Yes, but they are still ugly drag cars, and not good for much of anything else. Fouts is good for Track Meets, but not football.
  12. We need the SOW at the 50 like on the fake shot... IMHO. Cool pics, DL!
  13. Vizza is getting better weekly, and the running game seems to be coming around. I think our offense is potent enough to play against Troy's D. ...it is our defense I'm worried about. Troy has an AWESOME passing attack and against our secondary and current schemes I don't think we can stop them. Sort of a Cowboys/Patriots scenario. Our D is just going to allow too much, and even with good play from the Offense, it just won't be enough. ...but it isn't going to be a 30 point blow out, and Plumm is right. Troy's getting a little payback from their early days in the Conference... We'll get our payback soon enough. tsufan - Welcome, and thanks for sharing your thoughts!
  14. Then I say again - for those who don't tailgate at all or every game, then beer should be sold at the game, and the funds should be directed straight into the new stadium. ...and if you're going to tailgate, bring your own beer. Problem solved.
  15. Well, there is probably something to that, my friend.
  16. D Line looked great! Too bad you can only name one player, as the whole line was amazing all night!
  17. My answer is No. To do that, the defense will have to play as the 30th or so best D in the country for the rest of the season. If the guy does that, I was flat ass wrong, and will say so. ...I think that is next to impossible considering how the averages work out. IF we wrap up the season with some wins that come as a result of stopping some teams who pass the football, I'll back off. I just don't seriously see that happening, and I'd rather see a transition happen now, that we are out of the hunt than later and have to hear another year of "Give the new coach some time, he just started." ...but hey, that's probably why I'm not a football coach.
  18. I saw major improvement in the play of the players, but after a couple of quarters, I saw the same schemes that haven't worked so far come back and come closer to costing us this win than anyone wants to admit. I hear ya... and I hear the rest of the board - this is why I asked for my thread to be deleted. That's why I removed the link in my sig. I respectfully disagree. The big play is what has been hurting us from the beginning. We are slow, but play a soft "let 'em catch it, then we'll tackle them" defense. We have played that type of defense in 22 of 24 quarters played so far, and 2 of those quarters are the most recent quarters played. The players may have improved their skills as they have played and gained experience, but our defensive schemes still don't work. We MADE ULM play outside of their normal gameplan, and once they started doing so, they lit us up. Had they had a passing gameplan, we would have lost this game - not because of the players, but because of the Defensive scheme. I was VERY happy to see some blitzing, and the line played WONDERFULLY, against a GOOD running game, but anyone could pass against this defense. That's why SMU beat us. That is why we lost the first two conference games. That is why we are not 4 and 2.
  19. X2!!!! Great Post, Flyer! Did I miss the "Quote a Movie Day" Memo though?
  20. Nice Avatar Hint... Dirty Rotton Scoundrels Good flick.
  21. I did!!! I said it looked a lot better. ...but C'mon. I mean... You can like... repaint and keep a Ford Pinto waxed and shiny all the time, but that doesn't mean it still doesn't suck. (apologies to any members who are Pinto afficianados...)
  22. KRAM1, you have a great point. I was surprised that Budweiser was gone, and I too don't understand the issue. ...though I have to ask the following question - why don't we sell beer at the games? I know, I know, the NCAA would "rather you don't". ...but when we are needing revenue for our program (and a new stadium) doesn't this seem like an appropriate time to follow the lead of a few other DI teams and ignore what the NCAA would rather us do? Beer reveunes could really go a long way to getting the stadium fund jumpstarted. If the school is concerned with students drinking too much, they could require a ticket stub to buy beer, which would keep those who came in on a student ID from buying. ...but if they were really concerned, they would follow through on their "sweep" of the parking lot during gametime. Just a thought.
  23. Agreed. We have a classy group of gentlemen.
  24. The complaint isn't that this is going to take time. ...the complaint is that for 5 games we saw ZERO improvement on the D side of the ball, while seeing marked improvement on the other side of the ball week to week. That is the issue that some of us have. We could be 0-6, but if we were seeing weekly improvement all around, I wouldn't be saying a word - most wouldn't. But Now, this week was a blip for a couple of quarters, I'll admit that. ...but then back to the same at the end of the game. I'm not looking to beat OU or Arkansas. I AM looking for the D to do their part when the offense is putting up record-breaking performances in games we should be competitive in. I can't get over the fact that THIS GROUP OF PLAYERS were the #64 ranked D last year, now they are #118. I also can't get over the comment by the coaching staff that the Defense would be the strength of the team this year. The offensive performance we've seen this year teamed with the #64 defense in the nation would have resulted in a current record of 4-2. That is what is driving so many nuts.
