  1. [Darth Vader] YOU ARE BEGINNING TO SEE THE POWER OF THE DARK SIDE... [/Darth Vader]
  2. Well, then Vizza should only have to pitch a perfect game and score about 70 points to win. Man, this offense is GOING to have to improve, I don't think we're headed in the right direction here, lord knows the defense is doing all it can... **<-- This is Sarcasm. Please look up the word in the dictionary before flaming my post.
  3. menDOZEa? ...sleeps through preparation and the games? ...well, I never claimed to be a comedian. LEAVE ME ALONE!!! I'M TRYING!!! **sniff**
  4. Welcome and thanks for posting. ...and I'm VERY SORRY the political correct BS in this country has created this situation for your school. Schools that use Indians and Native American references as mascots do so as a sign of respect, not as an attempt to piss on anyone's Cherrios, and I think it is a very sad commentary that people in this country can't seem to solve basic service issues like education and the mail system, but we can spend the crap out of your tax dollars to attack an Honorable Institution like ASU because someone sent in a letter bitching about their mascot. ...and how 'bout them Seminoles?!?!?! Notice the big $$ School in Florida isn't having to take it up the rear end on this issue? This makes the second Sunbelt team who had to chance, but the BCS school can keep on keepin' on. Puke-Ola. ...Damn, its just a rant a minute this morning...
  5. Are you for freakin' real?!?!?!? Dude... I didn't see you at the Soccer game Saturday Morning, you must not be a Mean Green supporter. ...I suppose you've been to all the volleyball games too? Maybe there were commitments made. Maybe there were children to get home. Maybe, just maybe, SOME FOOTBALL FANS GIVE A CRAP LESS ABOUT BASKETBALL!!!! I went, and it was great, but to say someone who DIDN'T go isn't a Mean Green supporter is about as moronic as it gets. ...my $.02.
  6. Nice. Vizza is really turning out here... The offense is really starting to become exciting, and they clearly have a leader.
  7. With Mendoza here, you will never get these numbers. No good D player is going to come play for this guy. His coaching style, his inability to build a scheme, his record is just going to make kids say "No thanks..."
  8. I LOVE the idea... I don't think he'd come back, and I don't know if Dodge would hire him... but if those two things lined up, we'd be top 25 in a few short years.
  9. People try to turn this into a black and white issue. "If you're mad about the Defense, you're just negative and missed the point of that whole day." Even the Grand Poobah himself (Harry) made a post which basically said that. I think the bulk of the people on this board calling for Mendoza's head are doing so with total disconnect with how we felt about THE DAY Saturday. I LOVED Saturday. We had a GREAT day on Campus. I too felt like a Million bucks after one of the most amazing days EVER on campus. ...that doesn't mean the next day we can't voice our sincere disappointment with the performance of the team or coaching staff and disect "why" we suffered such a failure. Being angry about a football issue doesn't mean you can't have pride in a great day and event.
  10. ...anyone notice how off centerline the formation was... They flew directly over the student side, not the middle of the stadium. Was that just an off run, or do they fly over the visitor's side when the Navy is away on purpose? Just wondering. ...it WAS the greatest moment I've witnessed at Fouts.
  11. Don't confuse us with things like Facts... Nice post, Rick!
  12. Maybe at SMU, but by now? ...outta know better.
  13. Nice post, but I don't need a list. This is my school. Enough said. I'm in for the long haul, and so are most of the posters here. ...the folks we need to be pushing to keep coming are the students who aren't die-hard yet and the casual alumni and fans...
  14. GREAT article by Vito. Well done!
  15. ...I'm with ya'. After they bet with you, send 'em my way.
  16. Your son and all those young men should be proud. Tough loss, but they play hard, even to the end - I never see any quit in this team. Dodge WILL do the right thing. I'm sure of it.
  17. I agree with you, but most on the board thinks silence means he's sticking around...
  18. Two totally different situations. ...the old regime had build a very negative situation between players and coaches. Just removing them all and starting over was one quick way to take care of that problem. Perhaps, in retrospect, this seems a little rash, but I can see why he did it and where he was coming from. Assuming that knowing what he knows now he won't make a different decision than the one he made when he knew a different reality is just silly. Jesus - Give this guy the benefit of the doubt. If he DOESN'T remove Mendoza, then I will be right there with you asking questions, but at least give him the chance to do the right thing and don't condem him before he makes his move...
  19. That was the best part of the night. I hope this home and away is renewed. I'd love to have Navy back.
  20. Yup. That pretty well sums it up...
  21. Why are we just assuming that Dodge won't do what is right. Why do we assume he doesn't realize his friend is in over his head? Part of hiring a friend is the fact that you may have to fire him. It's part of being the boss... part of wearing the daddy pants. Mendoza will not be here next year, but Dodge is going to let him go out quietly during the off-season and not make a big deal of it, probably even help him get lined up for a HC highschool position before he accepts his resignation. Dodge WILL make the personally difficult choice because his loyalties lay with his Student-Athletes, which has been shown again and again.
  22. Well... probably both. I meant DeLoach, but the other thing probably isn't going to happen either. **wanders off to determine which one not happening is more sad...**
  23. I agree with what alot of what you have said here, but I take exception with much of it... The atmosphere was most surely the best we've ever had at Fouts Field and North Texas. There wasn't a moment that the crowd wasn't into it and that the spectacle wasn't VERY entertaining. Are there Naysayers about the atmosphere? You can't love 99% of what you saw yesterday and still want to puke with how non-existent an entire half of the football team was? That's the problem with this board. Any negativity is looked at as Complete negativity towards the program. The two aren't connected. You can be critical of the pace at which we are (or aren't) hearing about a new stadium and still be a real fan. You can still be critical of the bad choice of Defensive Coordinator and still support UNT and Dodge. You can critique and argue that the defensive coaching staff can't get it done and still be a UNT fan. ...in fact, it is those things THAT MAKE US FANS. Our willingness and desire to take this program personally and then argue, debate and pitch a fit with passion is what makes THIS fan base one of the greatest in sports. I am so tired of any negativity being attacked and maligned as if it is "against the religion" to be critical of any aspect of this program or our University. ...and I haven't seen anybody crapping on the effort the kids put in, and those who do are universally attacked by most members on the board, even the ones who dare be negative once in a while. Vizza looks amazing and the competition level at QB next year will be even better. There are now, and have been since day one of the TD era that the offense is healing and getting more potent by the minute. We will have one of the most explosive offenses in College Football in the foreseeable future. I agree 100%. ...a moment ago, we're making sure nobody questions the effort put forward by the players, but now they aren't talented enough to get the job done? Talented enough to be average, which THIS GROUP Of talent was last year, ranked #64. It is not premature to blame the man responsible for getting this group ready and for developing the scheme. Touch and go in practices? Cover 1? At the college level? Really? Who should we blame then? Or maybe the question is when? We have to go through this for two seasons? How long until you think those of us calling for a little blood aren't being too negative? Why? There are many examples of coaches who turn teams around in one season, and they do it with guys they didn't recruit. Happens all the time in college football. With an even decent, average defense, we'd be pitching a .500 season right now. Unlike many, I DO believe we have the talent on the defensive side of the ball to accomplish that now. I believe this because THIS GROUP OF PLAYERS have DEMONSTRATED IT before. The game is the pinnacle of this AD's career so far, and was a career move. The President and Rick deserve a MOUND of credit, and they have made all the right moves for this school in the recent past. I hope we see more of the same. ...and I think all fans, even those who expect more now are sticking with the team, Harry. It is the passion that many show that makes this fan base great. Nobody is abandoning the team, the school or the kids who work their asses off for us and each other every single week. Many, rightfully so, are asking for the changes that clearly need to be made if we are to move to the next level.
  24. The score will be ArkSt. 65, UNT 62. Ark St. will score every time they touch the ball, Vizza will throw one interception after throwing 8 TD passes, and SOME people on this board will blame him and claim "the offense slowed down in the 2nd half and cost us the game".
  25. We can only wish. NOT going to happen, sadly.
