Oil Continues Free-fall

Last estimate I heard is around $60 a barrel, which is way under what we're paying today for a barrel. ...at one time it wasn't a good choice as a barrel of oil was $20... but at $120, the $60 starts to look pretty reasonable. -

It was Robertson. ...it is one thing to gloss over the view of religious leaders you don't associate with. It is another to sit in the pews for 20 years then act like your surprised and don't agree with the pastor who married you and baptised your kids and was your campagin's religious advisor when the public finds out and it might cost you an election. ...the ONLY reason Obama is still not a member of that church and a follower of his pastor's is because he's trying to get elected, not because he rejects the man's ideals. -

Never said otherwise... ...but I DO know what to expect from McCain, the Bushes, the Clintons and the like. ...and none of those you listed have the past associations of Obama. Don't assume I'm in love with McCain or the Bushes, or any other politician. I'm aware of that. However, he did not have the relationship with Bush that he did with Obama. I'm not going to restate the relationship as I have already enumerated it in this thread, but you can click here if you want to refresh your memory. WHAT A LOAD!!! ROTFLMAO! Mean Green 93-98 said it best, so I don't need to say any more. I have never heard an anti-semtic thing from Falwell, and certianly never heard him ask God to damn our country. Get real... I speak of your favorite professors, William Ayers & Bernadine Dohrn. ...not all terrorists are muslim. Bush isn't running for president, so let it go. Again, it is the shear volume of associates that raise the eyebrow, and the statements Obama himself have made that makes the associations a legitimate issue. It isn't flawed logic. I woudn't be friends with someone who attacks America the way Wright has and does, and I wouldn't be "friendly" with terrorists who have taken up arms against my country. Again, that's your right. I support it 100%. ...but who you are and who you associate with are vaild questions to be answered of anyone who wants to be President of the United States. I think, based on what political beliefs we have, that both of us would find flaws in each other's logic. Luckily we live in a place where we can have discussions like this, maybe learn something from each other, but still come together to support a common interest, like say, our school. What a country! -

That's all you've got huh? When you can't effectivlely argue the point away, you start calling people who disagree with you politically uneducated? That’s alright, I’ve been called worse. I graduated 9 years ago, and have been pretty successful since. I don’t think someone’s education level really has much to do with one’s political views. I’m sorry you feel the need to stoop to that level to try and make your point. I don’t think you’re stupid for having a different view; in fact I respect your passion. Right back at 'ya. http://electjeff.wordpress.com/2008/08/07/...ick-is-awesome/ CBL hardly made me look like a fool (unless you simply support this guy and agree with CBL's opinion) as he didn't actually explain anything away. He just proved that the circumstances of the associations don’t disqualify Barak Obama for the office of President in his (and obviously your) mind. That’s cool, everyone is entitled to his or her opinion. ...and it isn't talking point rhetoric. I think for myself and spend time watching the mainstream media, listening to talk radio and reading articles and blogs from all sides. I’m a political junkie, and I don’t believe in talking points. …that’s not to say I may agree with something that is a talking point (and I’m sure you do to) but that doesn’t mean I’m just blindly spouting from RNC.org. and the Strawman of the Year award goes to... Well, see, you’re not running for President. …and nobody is saying the Obama is a carbon copy of the people who have been in his life, but HE has stated that many of these folks you dismiss as large influences in his life and considers them friends. FFR doesn’t like pit-bulls… …but he isn’t a convicted terrorist. You can’t see the difference? Flyer is obsessed with the stadium… …he doesn’t speak out against America, spew hate about other races or blames the country for 9/11. Still see no difference? Quoner likes MS Paint... ...he hasn't been indicted on charges he solicited kickbacks from companies seeking state pension business. Still not seeing the difference? ...if not, then I don't know what to tell ya'. Obama has virtually zero experience. All we have to base our decision on is his statement of policy, as he doesn’t have any recorded due to his short history in the statehouse or congress, and his good judgment. The people who he has aligned himself with and state are influences in his life raise concerns for me, and others. It doesn’t make him evil. Doesn’t even make him a bad guy. But it disqualifies him to be the President of the United States in my opinion. -

Detroit mayor (and Barack Obama Supporter) arrives at jail ...associations matter. When you lie with dogs, you're bound to get fleas. It's typical not to actually address or deny the connections, but just pretend like they are irrelevant. ...I'm happy they are for you, but they aren't for many. -

ROTFLMAO!!! I rest my case. You support the man's politics, so to you the associations don't mean anything. No big deal... Obama himself sites Davis as one of the major influences in his life. He didn't speak out against Ayers & Dohrn until his association with them was politically damaging, and he certainly has more of a relationship than you pretend they do in your response. Sen. Barack Obama's official campaign blogger was a self-proclaimed student of Karl Marx as an undergraduate at Harvard who proudly displayed a Soviet communist flag in his dorm room. Sam Graham-Felsen, after graduating from Harvard in 2003, published an article in an avowedly socialist magazine that expressed sympathy for the 2006 Paris street riots, which he observed in person. He has posted dozens of comments and articles on the blog of the leftist publication The Nation. Behind the bar in his Quincy House suite at Harvard, Graham-Felsen hung a Communist Party flag that he and a roommate brought back from Russia, according to an article published in the Harvard Crimson when he was a senior. The Crimson article also noted Graham-Felsen's bookcase in the Quincy house dorm included titles by Karl Marx and Howard Zinn, the socialist political science professor at Boston University known for his anti-American history texts and his extreme anti-war protest activity. Wright & Meeks are both anti-American and blame the US for 9/11 and preach hate. You pass it off as a non-issue, but Barack Obama himself has disavowed the preachers - but only after it was politically damaging. Rezko's relationship with him is a HELL of a lot deeper than you indicate. Here are the facts of the Rezko-Obama relationship as reported by the Chicago Sun-Times: ...so, you can excuse these relationships and they can all be "no big deal" to you, if these are the kind of relationships you want the next leader of the country to have. That's your right. I support your right to choose and vote for Obama 100%. ...but let's not pretend that these aren't REAL relationships. -

Sorry, but you need to look further. Character counts, it just does. ...ESPECIALLY with someone like this who has nothing but his good judgement to run on. He has little to no track record, and his stands on major issues are moving on a minute by minute basis. This guy's background and associations would keep him from getting security clearance for most jobs that would require such a background check. Tony Rezko Rev. Wright William Ayers Bernadine Dohrn Sam Graham-Felsen Frank Marshall Davis Alice Palmer James Meeks Rashid Khalid Nadhami Auchi Now, politics aside, I simply couldn't vote for someone who has this list of associations even if he was parroting my political views. I'm sure he didn't know that any of these people were criminals, anti-americans, terrorists or communitst at the time. (which seems to always be his defense) ...but if he's not lying and REALLY DIDN'T KNOW what these people were all about, then his Judgement SUCKS. See, no matter how you spin these associations, they are a MASSIVE PROBLEM... ...either he knows what all these people are about and is OK with it... OR ...is such a bad judge of character that his judgement MUST be called into question. -

Right... and that's why China and Russia are drilling in our backyard. that's Democratic Talking point number 345. I'd like to see your sources source. ...posting an opinion piece as fact is sorta funny, but I digress. The myth is that the U.S. only has a small percentage (from 2-6%) of the world’s oil supplies, and since oil is a global commodity, our increased production won’t affect prices much if at all. The facts remain that this estimate of 2-6% of the world’s oil supplies does not hold up to scrutiny. In oil shale alone, found in the Green River Formation in parts of Utah, Colorado, and Wyoming, the U.S. has approximately 800 billion barrels of recoverable oil, or over three times the proven reserves of Saudi Arabia. This comes from a midpoint estimate in a 2005 RAND study done at the request of the Department of Energy, and a higher end estimate puts the number at over one trillion barrels. Furthermore, there are vast areas of the United States and its outer continental shelf where it is illegal to even look for oil. Exploration routinely yields additional resources far larger than initial estimates. Resources from oil shale and additional oil resources that are likely to be discovered are not included in the estimates of American oil supplies. -

Think of it like this - Since futures speculation is what sets the daily price of a barrel of crude, anything that will increase supplies either in the long term or the short term will effect the futures prices immediately. ...if the Government says "we're dropping all restrictions on the supply side" the speculators will (correctly) determine the futures they own are worth more now than they will be in the future when there is a larger supply and many will dump now at the peak to get maximum profit. There you go... -

I've been right there with you, but I think all I'm asking for is a little patience. We're very close to getting some information in black and white according to RV and his interview with the Barbershop Podcast, and we're working on a student vote to get us where we need to be on that front. I KNOW we all have been waiting for a huge amount of time - ALL OF US HAVE - but all indications are that things are moving forward and in the right direction. Let's let the events we KNOW are going to unfold do so, and see how they turn out... ...if they turn out bad, THEN we can jump up and down, and put our collective feet in the rear ends of our AD, the President and the SGA. Until then, we would all have less stress and better blood pressure if we simply wait and let it play out. I love you guys...

I know... hard to swallow, isn't it? The whole program is on such an upswing. Look at the progress we made offensively last year. ...consider what a TINY bit of defense would have given us last year. ...think about how exciting this year could be, despite the predictions. ...think about how exciting NEXT year could be, ACCORDING to the predictions. We had a good run in the early 2000's but the program wasn't nearly on the upswing it is today before that run. We have the leaders saying the right things. Again, let this play out and have a little faith in all the parties involved to do the right thing.

Everyone outta just like... Relax. Wait for information to come out, wait for the vote, let's see what happens. ...have a TINY bit of faith. Not much, just a little...
