Was Bush Really That Bad?
yyz28 replied to stebo's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Bush will be seen through the Prism of History as a good president overall - His only REAL mistake was Rumsfeld which led to the debacle in Iraq. If Iraq had been run by Gates and Petreus since day one, it wouldn't have even been an election issue. The current economic situation is not his fault; the response to katrina was not his fault. Of the three Albatross' hung around his neck, he only really deserves one. -
Great win!!! Toby's interception was the play of the year!!

I've never done anything like it before, but my wife bought some stencils and tools to do some custom carvings on a couple of pumpkins she bought (one for my little one and one for herself) so I figured I could print out a Logo, create a stencil and go for it. I think it came out well. ...Thanks guys!

Not sure, but that MAY be the answer we were looking for... -
I will never understand the benefit of censoring people's well placed frustrations regarding this coaching staff and the direction it has gone thus far, and how people actually think it negatively effects UNT any more than negative talk on other school's boards (which it does, often to a larger degree than here and it happens on EVERY programs' fan boards) to a point where people feel the need to post such nonsence. I PROMISE that if we closed this board down or started Censoring people asking serious questions and having discussion about what is wrong with the program, that we'd still be winless right now. The group of supporters on this board are the best and strongest supporters and assets the UNT Athletic Department has, despite the negative discussions.

Time To Let Daniel Meager Play Quarterback, Then Put

Well, they ARE Sith Squirrels. Are we going to split hairs here? SMU = Evil... Sith = Evil. I'm consistant. -

Won't we be too drunk to get to the "gentleman's club of our choice". -
Don't bother listening. ...here's the show - "We're doing lots of things well, but not getting in to the endzone. We're making too many mental mistakes. I'm not sure why we're not doing better. Key player "X" won't play this week because"Y". Our team is hungry for a win on the road this week, so we'll be fired up." Save an hour of your life for other things.

If we field the same team that we have all season - we lose. If we field the seniors who all have something to prove on their way out - we win.

Darth Cerebus rules with an Iron Fist and finds your "lack of faith disturbing". He's going to release the full power of the "Sith Squirls" on you if you don't watch it... -
That may be true... but I'll be there.

Time To Let Daniel Meager Play Quarterback, Then Put

I made a long rant in another post on this board that addressed the "keyboard cowboy" mentality. Nautique has this disease bad, Rick. Don't waste your time thinking about or worrying about what this tool has to say. To the point of the thread - I think in light of the fact the season is over, the Seniors should be installed BEGINNING THIS WEEK - ALL OF THEM. Meager should be the #1 QB for the rest of this season because he has deserved it. He put up school records. He rode the emotional rollercoaster and had to put up during his tenure here with fans (including me) pushing to have him ride the bench under Dickey... Then Dodge comes in, and Meager THRIVES in this new system, but makes a few mistakes his college career is over? ...I'd argue that had Meager been under the type of system that he did so well in last year, he might be as good as a Senior as we think Vizza is going to be. We'll never know what 4 years of stable development under a stable program would have meant for Daniel Meager and how he performed. Either way, he and the Seniors have sacraficed a GREAT DEAL for this school, for us and MOST OF ALL, for the COACHING STAFF. The coaching staff has a debt to pay. Their way hasn't brought us to the point we all expected to be at this point - it's time to let the seniors finish this out THEIR WAY! START MEAGER FOR THE REST OF THE SEASON. HE'S EARNED IT! -
If I were RV, I'd sit down with Dodge and have a come to Jesus about what things needed to be changed, and then help him make those changes. I would also FORCE several changes as a condition of allowing him to continue for another year. These would be - 1. All coaches to be evaluated on their progress with the athletes, and the remaining HS coaches should be released and replaced with people who have been at higher levels. 2. Special Teams coach must be replaced with a ST coach who has real D1 experience. 3. Dodge needs to bring in an OC with D1 experience and different offensive ideas. Dodge can have influence over both sides of the ball, as any head coach has, but this is the old "two heads are better than one" approach. 4. Re-Install "toughness practice". There is still grumblings that tackling is not allowed during practice. This shows up on the field - if the defender misses with the shoulder tackle, all other takles are made from behind. There is no practicing of tackling in space that is translating to the field. With this combination of changes, we'd have a prayer of seeing some real improvement next year. If not, we'll win a game or two over the next couple of seasons.

My Editorial Comment On Last Night;s Game....
yyz28 replied to Green Grenade II's topic in Mean Green Football
Marching Band was a credit class in the early 90's when I was there. I can't imagine it isn't now... ...but I digress. Part of their "loudness" and "thumpiness" was a HEAVILY amplified bass guitar plaing along with them as a part of the band. Nick is correct about acoustics partially. From the field, "You'll Never Walk Alone" was every bit as loud as "Stars and Stripes" where it was SUPPOSED TO BE. I've ALWAYS felt the band should do something during the fireworks routine. The one time they had "Super Mario Brother's" theme they played it during the show, and it was GREAT! -

Special Announcement To The President's Club
yyz28 replied to VideoEagle's topic in Mean Green Football
That side of the stadium is the only side that has EVER stepped up. I agree, now is the time to do more, as we are so much closer to being the program we all have wanted it to be for ages, but let's not the time to get in the face of the Alumni and few die-hards who HAVE supported this program, come hell or high-water and through thick and thin. ...The Alumni will do our part, but it isn't right to get in our face after what we've all been through and what we've done to date. Get in the face of the alumni WHO AREN'T AT THE HOMECOMING GAME. Those are the people who should have a vested interest and who we have something to legitimatly market to them. Those are the folks we need to reach out to and challenge. -
I agree with this 100%. If it has passed, then the administration AND the SGA, both being Pro-Fee, are being darn sure that all of the rules are being followed to a T to avoid a boomerang coming back and smackin' them upside the head. They would be doing everything possible to keep the wraps on it because of how they know the two sides will react. If it fails, the Pro people are simply going to re-organize, put it on another ballot, make sure it is handled right this time (two day, in person only vote). If it passes, the anti crowd is going to bitch and moan and write some nasty articles in the Daily, but will basically simply go away if there is nothing to protest, like, say... some stupid rule getting broken. Silence is a good thing right now everyone. Be patient. We've waited this long, we can manage another 3 hours and 13 minutes.

I don't think this is right. From what I understand, either side MUST contest the ELECTION, not the decision, within 24 hours, while the results are held close in secrecy. You can ONLY contest the Election itself, not the results of the election.
