  1. Guys. I can't afford season tickets for both teams. ...unless we finally get Kathy Ireland on the team...
  2. No, I understand what you were trying to say/do here with this thread... ...but her wardrobe has been discussed more in the mainstream media more in the past 2 weeks than what the President is doing. I'm just sick of it. Yea, she's a rock-star, whoop-de-doo!!! ...you're not going to win the "double standard in the press" argument against a die hard lib. I'd just rather stick to the issues and the President and leave Michelle out of it - including her clothes.
  3. Well, that was fun for about 10 minutes.
  4. WHO THE &*$# CARES!?!?!? I REALLY don't like the President's Policies and what he is doing to this country, but the First Lady's wardrobe is just not something I really care about. To the people who agree with me politically... We have enough to attack this administration on that is legitimate and with substance. Let's leave the petty crap in People magazine where it belongs.
  5. That show stopped being funny when Kilborn left. ...if you don't understand that collectivism, a philosophy to which this president and congress subscribes, is the first step towards socialism, then you're not really a student of history. If that is the direction you want to go, then you should be happy, people who support those ideals are now in power. You've won. Those of us who are conservative are very alarmed by what is going on here. You can poke fun at it all you want, but government take overs of healthcare and fortune 500 companies is NOT a win for liberty, the free market and personal choice, which are the things that have, historically, made this country better than the rest.
  6. Listen carefully to the tape... after the train hits his car his reaction is one word... "Yup." I about fell out of my chair, I must admit.
  7. This thread is retarded... The cost of the war, to date, is roughly $600 Billion, which is roughly $100 Billion per year, as compared to the entire 2.65 Trillion dollar annual budget. War spending is generally VERY stimulitive to the economy, as companies are supplying war product and that private sector growth is good for the economy. With one bill, this president spent more than the entire cost of the war in an effort to "stimulate" the economy, nevermind the massive growth in the Budget he's outlined, and his supporters now have the balls to come on here and attack the Iraq war as wasteful, or even to suggest that it caused the Economic issue we're facing today? We can argue all day long about the good idea/bad idea merits of going into Iraq, but that is a pointless debate - everyone's made up their minds. ...but to pretend that somehow THAT government spending caused this mess, yet this new government spending will save us from this mess is just laughable. This guy tivoed the news conference, and attended a concert with a fundraiser. Who 'Friggin' cares? I'm going to bet he had watched the tivoed conference before he hit the house floor the next morning, so what difference does it make? I don't care if a Republican or Democrat did this, becuase it isn't a big deal at all.
  8. So the solution is to just keep doing the same thing and spend like drunken sailors? If it was bad that Bush ran up the debt and deficits, isn't it equally bad when a Democrat does it? I disagreed with Bush for his expansion of Government, and I disagree with Obama on his expansion of the government. ...the only difference is that Obama has done in one month what Bush did in 8 years when it comes to spending money we don't have. Please don't sit here and bash the former President for overseeing the growth of the deficit when the guy you just voted into office doubled it overnight. I wouldn't be patting yourself on the back for what Clinton's fincncial house looked like when he had a Republican congress holding the reigns. Let's see how the Deficit and Debt numbers look like after 4 years of Democratic control of Congress and the Whitehouse. ...anyone want to take any bets? Copying and pasting the talking points from "Moveon.org" and "Democraticunderground.com" is a far cry from posting the facts. The economy was headed into recession when Bush took office and then 9/11 happened. The only reason there was ever any surplus was due to the leadership of the '90's Republican Congress (and last really conservative body in office, BTW) and Clinton, rightly, went along with the bugets shoved down his throat during this time. I actually give Clinton alot of credit for doing the right thing here, and most conservatives do not and did not agree with the expansion of Government and spending under Bush. It's BIN Laden, and the Democrats in Congress gave Bush a green light to move forward and saw all the raw data (as did our allies in Europe) that Bush did. ...and the Iraq war debate is over. Let it go. You're not going to change any minds. We're not going to change any minds. We think we were right and the President was right to do what he did. You think it was wrong. You're not going to go anywhere with this argument. Those on my side think it was money well spent, and your side thinks is was a waste. Let's just agree to disagree. Gramm didn't run because he was ready to retire. ...and it's cute to bash Gramm for those policies when Clinton signed them into law. Both parties had a hand in removing some of the finciancial controls, but to ignore the mortgage mess and ignore that it was in fact TOO MUCH government involvement that caused that explosion is intelectuall dishonesty. ...and the problems with the economy were NOT in existance before the election of 2006. The Dems had 2 years to right the ship if they knew what to do and they did absolutely nothing. In fact, it was members of the Rebpulican party, inlcuding McCain who was screaming and hollaring that this was a big ass problem that was about to blow up in our collective faces. He isn't responsible for the mess as President, but he is responsible for it as a Senator who did NOTHING to combat it during his time in office. ...and the economy was fully in a downswing as Bush came into office, so to state it was in "good shape" is simply not true. ...and 9/11 could have happened under anyone's watch. Obama is responsible for the stimulus bill that he didn't read. He is responsible for the misuse of the bailout money (as is Bush) as he voted for it as a Senator. First, Obama is a gaffe machine and is clearly in over his head. Let's not pretend he's a mega intellect who is light years smarter than the previous holder of this office. What I want in a Surgen and a President are two very different things. I want a politician who will butt out of my life, and not grow our federal government in an effort to control more and more of our lives as a means of control. I want a President who will allow the free market to actually work and not bailout every company who has a problem. It's been MANY years since I've had a President I actually wanted in office.
  9. I'm in... ...though everyone who posts in this tread is likely to get banned as well.
  10. Everyone is missing the point here... The amount being spent on bonus' is a tick on the ass of the entire bailout. The whole bailout was a bad idea in the first place. It would be nice if government would take a little responsibility here... ...but don't hold your breath.
  11. Because you take that family trip at 200MPH in bumper to bumper traffic.
  12. I want to see anyone who's dumping on motorsports after they've taken a 5000HP dragster down the strip in 3 seconds at 300 MPH. ...most of you would black out and not be able to get out of the car. LOL! Are they sports in the true sence of the word? NO... I agree. ...but don't assume professional race car drivers aren't well conditioned athletes. ...and if you don't know who won a NASCAR race you are watching, you weren't watching it.
  13. Mrs. Dodge gots some 'splainin' to do...
  14. I was there... GREAT 2nd and 3rd... thought I'd fall asleep during the 1st though. Never been to that part of the Arena, but I've spent some time on the Platinum level and the bar on that floor...
  15. Banning political discussions is insane. Enforce the "no peronal attacks" rule so it stays somewhat civil and let people have at it... ...and if you can't stand sifting through it, create a political forum, and get one or two or four of us who enjoy the debate to moderate it based on your guidelines and then never look at it again.
  16. I think you're doing a fine job, sir! Keep up the good work.
  17. True... this is the type of waste we predicted when opposing government stimulus. Thank you, drive through.
  18. Wrong. Freddie and Fannie are at the root of this, A lack of control allowd Wallstreet to run amuck, but you can't blame one and not the other. Add to that the Mark to Market regulation which is acutally making it worse, not better. Both may have LED to the recession, but this deepening is a direct result of the entire business community pulling in as this guy puts us in a deeper hole by the day. There is a reason that on days the White House is fairly quiet the market is relatively calm and when they are out there stumping for more spending and nationalizing banks and the healthcare industry the market tanks. When are you guys gonna realize that the Government can't spend us out of this mess, and trying to will only make things worse in the long run? ...and the ideas from the other side of the isle are loud and clear - DO WHAT HAS WORKED EVERY TIME WE'VE TRIED IT. LOWER TAXES ON EVERYONE, SPEND WITH LASER BEAMS ON HIGH RETURN PROJECTS, not with a shotgun, quit putting the screws progressively tighter on the investment class and let the people have more of their money to spend.
  19. I don't have a mullet, but I probably should. I'm a Camaro/Firebird guy. I've got a 2000 Z28 w/ 525HP Heads/Cam 347 LS6 and a 1991 RS w/ 380HP Stock Heads/Mild Cam Carb'ed 383 under the hood. In addition, we have a '79 Trans Am (complete with the big-ass screaming chicken decal) in my dad's garage with a worked over 6.6L Olds 408. Going to get a new RS/SS once they have been out for a few months and we're always looking for a good, but affordable, 1st gen to round out the collection. Rumpity, Rumpity... Sorry for the Hijack, Rick.
  20. So it appears we agree 100%. I'm going to go drive my gas guzzling in-no-way emissions legal hot-rod to lunch now, in an effort to feel more normal about this day...
  21. Oh, C'mon Rick... you know that Hammons would have been equally successful under a more opressive and socialistic government and system.
  22. Jerry did something right for the first time in 3 years. I raise my glass to you today, sir... ...though I'm sure I'll be cursing you again tomorrow.
