  1. There is no good that can come from releasing the pictures. We all know they are there and this happened but to release them would put our troops in increased danger. This is a good decision and I applaud the President. ...if the case gets to the courts and they try and force him to relase them, we'll see if he's really serious or if this is just a political stunt. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for now.
  2. Win titles... I don't care how. Be as crazy as you want to be. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!
  3. A hotel of the scale of what this will be is a HUGE investment - based on Dallas City Halls recent record, most with those kind of $$$ are not going to let that type of investment be impacted in the way that City Hall can impact it when it is to be attached to a City Owned facility. Dallas city politics are a big reason Dallas doesn't attract more private business. Just ask the Arlington Cowboys.
  4. It already has been. Omni hotels will run it. ...our convention center is nationally considered second rate. Not because of the facility itself - it is one of the best in the country - but because there is no convention hotel attached to it. Chicago, New Orleans, Austin, Anaheim, Orlando, Minneapolis - all cities we compete with for convention business, all have hotels attached or across the street from the Convention Center, and all were funded by the City recognizing the importance to the rest of the community to have a thriving convention business. The other privately owned hotel owners in the area were FOR this bill (except for one, who led the charge against this thing, Crowe, who doesn't live in Dallas anymore, and who owns the Anatole, who funded the NO HOTEL side of this thing) because they know this thing will drive business to them. More conventions in Dallas = a West End Resurgance = Traffic Victory Park needs so badly = better Downtown Dallas. Anyone who doesn't want this hotel either doesn't know the facts or doesn't want Dallas to succeed and compete directly with other major cities. Crowe and his group did all they could to bullshit the voters into voting against it, and their ad campaigns were completely misleading. This is a WIN for Dallas.
  5. No... there isn't. When you start prescribing "rights" that don't exist there is no limit. Sorry.
  6. I'm farily confident we didn't have Tama-Flu in 1918. I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'.
  7. Medicare and Medicaid aren't paying the bills they have now and they budget for 15% fraud. That's all you need to know when considering National health care. The fact that the rest of us have to pick up the difference for what the Government doesn't get paid and for what those without insurance don't pay is why our healthcare costs are going up. It isn't greedy doctors and insurance companies. There are MANY steps that we should and can take before we throw up our hands and let government (who ran the post office so well they had to partially privatize it, and can't figure out what to do with Swine Flu) run the whole thing.
  8. Then we have a chance in 2012. and then again in 2014. A month is a LIFETIME in politics. Lots can happen. ...but I don't think it will take very long for this retread of situation and policies from '76-'80 (last time Dems had full control) to lead to an awakening of enough of the American people to change the look of Washington. I'm not predicting a Republican majority, but enough gain to slow down this train. Obama and his Congress knows this is likely, hence the "gotta get our entire agenda in during the first year" mad dash. They don't want to be implementing controversial things during an election year, and they know this may be their only chance to get some of this stuff done.
  9. ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!!! This isn't that big of a deal, and it wouldn't be front page news still had Obama just said "My Bad!" and sent Bloomberg an apology. But this spin is just laughable. ...if you don't think the President or at least someone a step away from him (meaning employed directly by him) doesn't know the status of BOTH of those 747's at a second's notice then you are a fool. Sorry. This mission was ordered by the White House, and the White House is ultimately responsible for this amature hour f-up.
  10. This isn't a lack of respect. I simply don't agree with his policies. I respect the office, and he isn't a scumbag like the pervious Democrat to hold the office, so I respect him. ...but I disagree with the vast majority of his policies, and I think his economic and national security policies are dangerous to this country and my daughter's future, and I don't like the fact that he hides his true agenda in double speak and in the shadow of "helping the little guy" who will be hurt most over time by his policies. This is very simple. Fortunately we have a chance to do something about it in 2010, and that's what makes this country great.
  11. I'm not saying the Japanese makes weren't better through a large period of time. They most certainly were. I'm talking about the here and now. Since 1995 both GM and Ford have come a LONG way in bringing the features, quality, fit and finish up to par with both the Japan and Europe's offerings, which are reflected in JD Power and consumer reports reviews today. ...now, if we're talking about say 80-95, we're talking a MUCH different story. With a few execpitons, nothing worth a damn came out of Detroit during that time.
  12. Another fine myth... GM & Ford rivals Toyota/Honda in quality and customer satisfaction - See JD Power.
  13. Since KSM was involved in the planning of 9/11, we already did KNOW their intent.
  14. Sounds like he could be quite a prize.
  15. Time for some Fitz in Silver and Blue.
  16. Interesting that property values are dropping by half in states controlled by Democrats, isn't it? ...just sayin'.
  17. The whole team is playoff soft.
  18. KICKASS!!! If there is one thing UNT knows, UNT knows how to be Stealthy.
  19. I'm pro-choice and even I agree with this. The lives saved in LA > The lives of these terrorists. We can argue the symantics of this all day long. I agree, the government should have said they were doing this all along and not gotten into the torture debate. I have no problem inflicting a little psycological damage on someone who is hell bent on killing thousands of innocent lives - one might even argue that the damage to that mind was done before we got our hands on him.
  20. "I dabbled in pacifism once... not in 'nam of course..."
  21. Which brings me to the REAL question that needs to be addressed here - HOW HAS PEREZ HILTON MANAGED TO BECOME A HOUSEHOLD NAME IN THIS COUNTRY?!?!?!? ...thought I'd ask the obvious.
  22. California really pisses me off. The Nanny state is hard at work out there. This is a truely American Quest! Godspeed, sir!
  23. Dare to Dream. That would be an AWESOME weekend if it happened that way...
