  1. The central government can't be all powerful until EVERYONE needs it for their very survival. This is what the statist wants. ...now, that's not politically correct, so you're going to be told that the 85% of us who have the healhcare coverage we choose are going to have to have our choices limited to a few (and eventually to one as the private sector can't compete with the Government) to give the 15% of the country who doesn't have health coverage (many of whom CHOOSE not to have it and are now going to have it shoved down their throats) will now be covered under the made up "right to healthcare". That pretty well boils it down. It's a power grab. Period. A few legitimately poor will benefit, while the rest of us will suffer through rationed medicine which has failed everywhere it has been tried. We'll see if the sheep follow THIS President off the cliff. Most wised up last time this was tried, but they have gotten smarter with the language, cost estimates (which are always WAY low with any social program) and have some momentum.
  2. ...yet he was able to mastermind a plan that had everyone in congress, virtually every world intelligence agency and the bulk of the american public that Hussain was a real threat, but he really made the whole thing up himself. I love the inconsistancy amoung the Bush was a dumb-ass crowd. ...at least he remembed the thought he was trying to get across without needing a teleprompter. It may not have sounded pretty, but you knew what he meant, prompter or no. ...OR... ...imgagine the possibilities... ...we drop the name calling and critique policy? I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin.
  3. ...and since we're hijacking the thread, Limbaugh did NOT directly call Chelsea the Whitehouse dog, but don't let FACTS get in the way of your defense of this attack on the Palin family. The transcript of the television show proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that the topic of the segment was "In/Out" by David Hinckley and occurred on Nov. 6, 1992 - 2 months before the Clintons occupied the White House or before anyone knew there was a Socks. It was about the fact that on its way "Out" was "the cute dog" and on its way "In" was "the cute kid." Limbaugh asked for a picture of the cute kid, and Millie the Bush dog was still showing - he said "No no no, that's not the kid; can we please get a picture of the kid - ok, that's the kid." The person who didn't change pictures quickly enough was fired. But the most you can accuse Limbaugh of is calling Millie the dog (who everyone knew at the time and would have recognized immediately) a "cute kid." Here is the actual Transcript – You won't find the ACTUAL transcript of him calling Chelsea a dog because... SURVEY SAYS... IT DOESN'T EXIST!!! Thanks for playing. ...the Failboat is about to set sail.
  4. Yup, you're right. It was classless. Totally CLASSLESS. And lots of people gave Rush a LOT of heat for it for quite some time. I'm still trying to find out what Limbaugh said in the early 90's about someone's kid being ugly has to do with Letterman making jokes about child rape and prostitution about someone's kid in 2009? S T R A W M A N ! ! ! ! ! ! ..when you can't win the debate on merit or on your counterpoint, demonize the actions (regardless of the timeframe) of someone who identified with the side you're debating against. Fail.
  5. I'm an agnostic and used to be an atheist, and am... GASP... a CONSERVATIVE. The Constitution states that the Federal Government may not establish a religious state. That is the beginning and the end of the statement. Yet people try to make it so much more. It doesn't promise you freedom FROM religion. It doesn't prohibit states from having official religions of the state. It certainly doesn't say kids can't pray in school, organized or otherwise. The placement of the basis of our legal system in prominent display is NOT a violation of establishing a state religion. Forcing you to read them is also not a violation of this statement. Holding a gun to your head, telling you believe or die and then forcing you to attend religious ceremony regularly WOULD be a violation of the Constitution. ...all other "walls" erected to limit religious display or practice in public or on Public property are made up and not in line with the first amendment to the constitution, which reads simply that "Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise threof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or of the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petiiton the Government for a redress of grievances." Note, the amendment doesn't say "individual states may not establish a religion", and further goes on to say that the Congress may not prohibit the free exercise thereof, making any federal involvement in the placement of the ten commandments in any setting unconstitutional both under the "prohibiting the free exercise thereof" and "freedom of speech" portion of the amendment. Further more, federal rulings regarding prayer in school are violations of the "prohibiting the free exercise thereof", "freedom of speech" and "right of the people peaceably to assemble" portions of the First Amendment. Any rulings to the contrary made historically by the supreme court are simply bad law and examples of legislating from the bench. People FEVERISHLY practicing their religion around me does not force me to believe what they believe.
  6. Why do people feel the need to put words in other people's mouths? I didn't say anything about Limbaugh's gaffes or Letterman's Vitriol. I NEVER said "Letterman is the one spewing vitriol left and right". I'm talking about this SINGLE, ONE TIME INCIDENT. I'm not claiming he is spewing any vitriol as a matter of practice. I am saying what he said is disgusting, and I don't believe his defense that he didn't mean the younger daughter who was IN New York with Palin and attended the Yankees game, and he didn't bother to apologize about what he said about the Governor and flight attendants. That is all I'm saying. ...and I reject the straw man of bringing Limbaugh into this. Limbaugh did what he did YEARS ago, apologized and moved on. The two really aren't even in the same league, nor are they in the same decade.
  7. Looks like Fouts is REAL close to Eastern Michigan in that category...
  8. Before or after the reduction in deductions to be allowed on your 2009 tax return? And the tax creidt should be closely checked, as our accountant tells us the credit is just that and will be due back to the IRS at the end of the year. ...in the end you'll take home no extra money. The net effect is no tax cut, and will in fact be a tax hike. Neat political trick, but not a tax cut. ...a tax cut is "YOUR NEW RATE IS 15% when it was 17%. Period. End of Story.
  9. The Irony of this thread is that you can post celebrities and pastors that say he is doing a good job, but you can't tell us what he has done that has bettered our situation yet... ...Job losses continue, at a much higer rate than he stated earlier in the week. Nothing has been done to stem the impending Commerical Real-Estate Bust, Consumer Credit Bust, or to fix the holes that created the Residential Real-Estate Bust. No Tax cuts to stimulate the economy. Many of the "Stimulus Funds" haven't been funded yet. The enactment of the Stimulus has destoryed our Monetary system and inflation and run-away interest rates are around the corner. He's about to rape business in an attempt to force lesser healthcare down your throat and mine. He's kissing terrorist ass. North Korea now has a green light to do what EVER the hell they want. ...oh, yeah. This is MUCH better.
  10. I'll give that point. I'm not lumping Obama into this one. ...the point being made is that he MEDIA has stayed off his kids but not payed politicians on the other side the same courtesy.
  11. I was outraged, but not equally. Calling someone's kid ugly < suggesting someone's 14 year old is raped by a filandering has-been baseball player or is a Prostitute. ...and put away the "He wasn't talking about Willow" argument. It dosn't hold water. WILLOW, not BRISTOL was in New York and went to the Yankees game. WILLOW, not BRISTOL made the trip to New York. He was clearly talking about the Palin child who came with her mother to New York. ...not to mention the personal attack on Gov. Palin and the generalization of Flight Attendants. The whole thing was a FAIL and is, absolutely, comparable to what Imus said. Limbaugh crossed the line on that one, and sumarily appologized. The man isn't perfect. I don't expect Letterman to be, but I do expect there to be consiquences to such a disgusting act. ...and Limbaugh stopped doing his TV show because he wanted to. It wasn't cancelled.
  12. Flyer - That isn't really fair. We SHOULD read what they have to say. We may draw our own conclusions that are totally different from theirs, but just to not read it doesn't educate you or anyone else. ...its sort of like the other side dismissing something that has been said simply because of who said it, not the merit. At least give it a read and reject or accept it based on the content, not the author. That's just my opinion.
  13. The media IS left wing. I can site you study after study that shows that 80+ percent of journalists are registered democrat, how similar stories are treated differently based on the letter behind the name of the politician, that it isn't even worth the effort. Whole books have been written on the subject. ...and if the cries are coming from the vocal minority, how come the most liberal media outlets like MSNBC, the New York Times and Air America have terrible ratings, are losing market share and/or have shut down while Conservative Talk Radio and Fox News contiune to set new viewer records year after year? I'd like to know how Imus' comments are incomparable? Each comment was made by a media icon, one on radio, one on TV. Each comment was wholly over the top and showed the true colors of the person in question. One was a sexual reference to rape against a child, the other was a racist comment about a group of adults, both of which are socially unacceptable. ...the only thing incomparable about the comments is that every race organization in the country rallied behind the Rutgers Ladies' basketball team, while not a single women's group or child's advocacy group has jumped to the defense of Willow. It IS, buy the very definition of the term, a DOUBLE STANDARD. Please, show me exactly how the two are incomparable.
  14. If you don't like it... don't read it. C'mon, you're a lib, you should be all for free speech.
  15. I somehow knew how the Anti-Semite murder in Washington yesterday would be tagged with other conservatives on this board by lunch today. Good showing, SE!
  16. ...Imus was run out of town on a rail for far less. Nappy Headed Ho < A-Rod Raping a 14 year old D O U B L E S T A N D A R D!!!
  17. Camaro, Malibu, G8, Lacrosse, CTS... I'd take another look. These are all some really great looking cars, and I'd take any of them over their Jap counterparts. ...but apperance to me is subjective. I think the Camary is about he ugliest thing on the road, yet they outsell everything. Go figure.
  18. Lifter - Being harsh on Hillary and Bill are different than being rough on Chelsea. Going after the kids is just downright mean. Lots of stuff about how dumb Barbara and Jenna were and now this about Bristol Palin (who is 18, BTW...). NOBODY has said something so disgusting about any politician's kid in my memory. It's a double standard. Make fun of Barak, George, Bill or Sarah all you want, but leave their kids out of it.
  19. A statement from someone who CLEARLY doesn't know squat about the Auto business. Rick Wagoner and Bob Lutz (the two guys running GM during recent history) had made HUGE strides in correcting what was wrong with what they could at GM, mainly their product. GM product of 2009 compared to 1999 is like night and day. GM holds more top spots in JD Power and Associates than Toyota and Honda COMBINED and smokes both Ford and Chrysler in terms of quality. The problems GM has today is not a result of bad products coming out today, but rather an uneducated consumer who still thinks jap cars are better than GM products and union contracts that were made 3 CEO's ago. ...and now that the Government owns 'em, I expect all of the steps forward taken by Lutz and Wagoner will be destroyed within 2 years time.
  20. The site will be an Embassy. Hilton and Hammons will build the property. ...but an announcement doesn't mean there will be ground breaking next week. I expect this project to get underway around the same time as the stadium. There is information on it in some of the lead sheets we work out of. (we're in the Hospitality Technology business).
  21. It is actually quite brilliant. See if new jobs are added, say 100,000, he can claim credit for 1.1 Million jobs by stating 100K were added and 1Million were saved and nobody in the media will challenge him on it. Should the economy lose another 500K jobs, he can still take credit for 500,000 saved jobs and the media will react with a predictable "thank goodness he's President, or we would have lost twice as many jobs!" It's a neat trick. ...and in no way transparent.
  22. Once the Mob realizes they can get more for themselves by taxing others, the system is bound for failure.
  23. Are you people serious?!?!?!? ...you don't have a problem if the people teaching our kids these skills can't do these problems? ....What difference does it make if an elementary school kid would see the problem? How about a Jr. High student? Should we demand that our teachers can do math at a Jr. High level in order to be able to teach? Or, maybe a HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL EVEN?!? The bar is set WAAAAAAAAAAAY too low if you guys are just OK with this. THIS is why our Public Schools are failing. THIS is why.
  24. The problem with this is that the 40-50MPG cars out today aren't selling... when gas was $4.00 per gallon, yeah, it was waiting list time. Now go to Toyota or Chevy and you can PICK the Hybrid you want off the lot. All things being equal, when Gas isn't $4 per gallon, people want space, safety and power. ...nevermind the deathtoll associated with this bill - and rest assured, people WILL die as a result of this mandate - people, by and large, don't want to drive pissants. ...and you look at the increase in milage active fuel management or hybrid systems in a fullsize car or truck gain you and you find it isn't much. All this is being done over junk science and the biggest hoax of the ages - global warming. When the car industry needs it the least. Detroits only hope is that enough gains are made by the other side in the next two elections to slow this train down. ...and if you want to drive something bigger or more powerful than a Kia Rio, I suggest you buy it in the next couple of years.
