  1. How do you figure that? I can list for you more than one referendum that the people of California has voted for that their elected officials and the courts have struck down. THAT is NOT direct democracy.
  2. I'm probably the only person who got it. ...but I don't think that's the kind of goat they had in mind...
  3. Interesting article. The comments section is interesting, and I remember how the WKU boards were really dumping on being in the 'Belt and that they would dominate coming out of the gate. Expectations are a bitch, I guess we've all learned here the hard way this year. WKU won't always be the door mat, and Troy won't always be the class of the league. In a league with such parity, we will all find ourselves on the top of the pile and on the bottom of the pile from time to time. ...though, I'd be satisfied with somewhere in the middle right now.
  4. Man, that's terrible. He deserved to finish on his feet as hard as he played for UNT, his teammates and himself. Get better soon, Toby, and thanks for all you have done!
  5. Ugh, did you listen to Rush's comments, or the nimrods who wish to GOD they got the type of people to pay attention to them as Rush does himself? ...the guys who sit there and defend Acorn. This was recorded in 2008 and now in 2009, we discover Rush was right on about Acorn and these guys... well, not so much. ...because what Rush says there is absolutely right, and in no way shape or form racist.
  6. Politics have ruined an otherwise wonderful state.
  7. PHS, you know I respect you, and I'm not sure I really even disagree, but you do sort of have an axe to grind, and your opinion hardly biased. ...but its good to see you still here taking an interest. Hope all is well.
  8. Now THAT's funny!
  9. Best and most under-rated post of the week. Perspective. Thanks KRAM! Great post and points.
  10. Wow... this thread is pretty wild. I've already gone through three bowls of popcorn reading this one. 1. The loss sucked. No doubt. 2. This team IS better than last year. No doubt. 3. We HAVE been competitive in every game save this one and the Alabama game this year (yes, even MTSU, despite the slow start, we had every opportunity to win that game). I want can't tell you if I think Dodge should return next season right now or not. Ask me at the end of the season. The folks calling for his head today, I think, are very reactionary. Let's look at the end result of this season when we get there, look at the season in comparison to the past two (and not just wins and losses) and then determine if the direction is the right one and if we want to stick it out another year. I think the answer for most, given the investment we've already made, will be yes. ...and here's the most important part that, perhaps, many here fail to notice - there is nothing we can do to change it. We don't make these decisions.
  11. I was low on my score, but...
  12. This is NOT a bad defensive team. They had a TERRIBLE night, but you can't call the team that came in there tonight, ranked #1 in the belt, BAD. I know we're all frustrated, and this losing by one score at the end thing will be the story of this season, but let's slow down a bit. The defense has been MUCH better this year and until last night played well enough to be the best defense in our league. ...and frankly, when you look at the second half, you can really only say the defense was bad for one half. Everyone tries to find the problem and point a finger at it. This isn't Todd Dodge's Fault. This isn't Riley's fault. This isn't the fault of the rest of the coaching staff. This isn't the fault of the defense or DeLoach. ...this is a lot of little problems with all of the above listed items and a few that aren't listed that when combined are giving us the same result. This team CAN win. This team IS competitive. This team HAS made major strides since last year. If you're paying any attention and can get the anger and frustration goggles off you'll see that. I'm PROUD of this team, from top to bottom. The learning curve hasn't been as steep as we all want, and further adjustments need to be made, but we're in the ballgame, which is a pretty huge change from last year. Let's give credit where credit is due, and let's not call part of our team BAD which really isn't.
  13. Yawn. Don't put this on the Students. I was on that side, and the Alumni side lost at least 50% of the crowd at halftime as well.
  14. I can't argue this at all. I think Riley is awesome when he's on the feild, but he's simply too fragile.
  15. I'm in the same boat. I was there AND recorded the game. I came out of Fouts feeling the exact way JD describes here and the review of the TIVO this AM confirms it. Even the non-homer announcers on the broadcast were sort of perplexed. We SHOULD NOT have been in this situation in the first place, but given the situation, good officiating would have given us a W.
  16. LOL! Political opinion is a tad different than Slander, but alright. Whatever you say.
  17. You are wholly misinformed. I know for a FACT you have never heard Rush Limbaugh sing Barak the Magic Negro... BECAUSE HE NEVER DID! First, the LA Times coined the phrase in the article from the David Ehrenstein opinion piece from March 17th, 2007 - "Obama the 'Magic Negro' -- The Illinois senator lends himself to white America's idealized, less-than-real black man." This is the third piece in the LA Times that dealt with Obama not being "black enough." LA Times - March 17th, 2007 - Obama the 'Magic Negro' Second, Rush did not sing the song. Comedian Paul Shanklin wrote and performed the song that was played on Limbaugh's Radio show, as part of a commentary on the amount of people from the left at the time asking "is Barak Obama black enough?" and the littany of opinion pieces by authored by commentators who were fixated on Obama's ethnicity rather than his politics, in the LA times, Chicgo Tribune, ABC News, NBC News, and the like, including comments made by the Reverend Sharpton on Fox News Sunday. (research, rather than accepting soundbites as fact, will teach you a great deal that you may not have known before) The whole thing was a parody on the fact that the side (the left) who is always calling us (the right) a bunch of racists were the ones consumed with Obama's race. It is called Irony. ...but don't let the facts or the context get in the way of your assertion that someone is a racist. I wouldn't want the facts or the context allow you to admit you were wrong when you slandered someone who you don't know and obviouslly don't listen to and have formed an opinion on based on what other people say.
  18. I agree with the title of your thread, my friend. ...but I LOVE the article, no matter what "Mid Major" is the team with the gripe.
  19. I hope I'm wrong, and I REALLY do see improvement, but we just can't seem to get over the hump. Until we do with some sort of regularity, I have to say we continue to lose close games in heartbreaker fashion - FAU - 24 UNT - 21 If our recent record of dumb mental errors and turnovers improves, we win. ...but until I see that happen, I just can't predict it. ...but I'll be there, green on, cheering for my team none the less. I sure love watching this team, despite the challenges this year - it is a very different team from last year.
  20. The Big Lebowski is everything that Burn after Reading is not. Funny. Brilliant. Quoteable. Big Lebowski >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Burn After Reading ...but that's just my opinion.
  21. The benches at fouts are metal.
  22. Romo is certainly not THE problem. He hasn't looked good and the loss to Denver could be pinned on him, but he was pretty damn good in the KC game. ...the redzone play calling continues to suck, badly. ...and the defense folds at the worst times. Until we have a head coach that the players respect, we will be mediocre at best. I'm not prepared to say if Garrett is the answer or if someone new is the answer, but Wade, who is a great guy and proabaly a good coordinator or positions coach, just isn't the guy to be the head coach.
  23. Dude, the WWE gets better ratings than soccer. Let it go.
  24. Magnoilia. Worst movie EVER. Followed closely by that Scientology disaster with Travolta and Burn after Reading, which took a great cast and placed it in the first car on the train to nowhere. ...just one man's opinion.
