  1. I now officially don't care what the decision is, I just want the decision made!!!
  2. I just wish we'd have another chance to tailgate this year. I enjoyed spending time at the Alumni tent bs'in with you the other day my friend. ...I wish I shared your optimism for an NT win after the long hard season. I love my team and my school and am rooting for 'em all the way, but I just can't predict a win this week. ASU is beat up, but they are a good team. NT hasn't proved they are a good team, but have lots of promise. In what had to be the real MUST WIN of the year last week at Fouts, we couldn't turn the corner, so it is hard for me to see how we do it on the road this week when the team and coaching staff must be at an all time low, especially if Dodge's job isn't secure or if he's been fired by that point. North Texas loses a squeaker, but they DO lose unless a miracle finally happens - UNT 19 ASU 21
  3. This is the dumbest thread I've ever seen on this board. ...ok, not EVER, but it is bad. DeLoach is the description of the type of DC you're demanding here. Deloach isn't the problem, and replacing him with a new DC and keeping everything else the same will result in the same (or worse) results that we saw last year. What this team needs to do from right here to be successful is simple - 1. Hire a proven college level OC, preferably someone familiar with running the spread in the college ranks. Have him revamp Dodges system to fit the nuances of the college game. 2. Change how practice is run - Dodge and his coaches need to spend time watching TCU, Boise and Cincy and other on the rise Mid Major programs. They need to emulate the way the practices are run in those programs - Practice should be hard hitting and intense. 3. Recruit heavily both in JUCO and HS on the defensive side of the ball. 4. Get a new kicker. ...make those four adjustments and we have a winning season next year, YES, even with Dodge.
  4. SNL has had some great political humor over the years. ...Dana Carvey as Bush and Phil Hartman as Reagan were both total classics. This skit was pretty darn good.
  5. I totally agree. I was hoping he would be mentioned though the whole ceremony. He was a good man, and did our University a lot of good.
  6. I know nobody wants to talk about emotion other than raw competitiveness when we're talking about football... ...but I'm prepared to erase Saturday's game from Riley's record when looking at his body of work. Why you may ask - How would you perform if the pressure and stress of saving your dad's career rested squarely on your shoulders? I love my dad, and would do ANYTHING for him, and I can tell you that stress and strain would be almost impossible for me to play through and do my best. You asked for experts to answer this question - I'm certainly no expert, but Riley was put in a virtually impossible situation. I was watching Todd and Riley on the field before the game. There was a lot more one on one time and hugs that seemed like they knew this was likely their last hurrah in a friendly stadium together. Assuming Riley stays at North Texas if Dodge is gone next year, I think he will improve. What we've seen isn't unusual from Freshman QB's. ...I think he may still be the best QB we've had here in a long time, or even ever when all is said and done. He's a good kid and certainly has talent. If Riley is in Green next year, I'd expect to see a more mature and polished player, no matter who the coach is. Go Mean Green!!!
  7. better lucky than good...
  8. While I don't disagree with this post, I have to point out that if we had a kicker who could manage to score extra points and put chip-shot field goals throught he uprights, we'd have won that game last night. ...just sayin'.
  9. This early in the game, she most certainly DOES have a legitimate shot. ...and what do we base "deserves one" on?
  10. HECK YEAH!!! I saw Rush at Reunion (Third Row, Right in front of Geddy @ the Counterparts tour) several times, as well as a few other concerts. Countless Stars, Mavericks and Sidekicks games, and I was there for Game 7 against the Av's and one of the Stanley Cup games. AAC is the Taj Mahal compared to Reunion, but I have missed Reunion since we started going to the AAC. The energy in Reunion was simply unmatched.
  11. I spurt hot coffee through my nose, so I feel your pain on that one.
  12. Score and Time?
  13. Painful... Just painful... Lets FINISH!!!
  14. I don't give a rat's ass about the issue itself, it is the fact that the University and the SGA mismanaged the situation and timing so poorly. It is the typical handing of the message by this University and its organizations that bothers me the most. We have a service academy coming to town. We are breaking ground on a HUGE project that will change the face and course of our University, and the message coming from Denton is "Gay Homecoming Court". FAIL!
  15. ...we break ground on our new Stadium on Saturday, and the press we get this week is "Gay Homecoming Court"? ...Way to manage the message UNT. ...and thanks SGA!
  16. I can't believe people buy into this crap. Good links, all.
  17. Voted Yes on Tarp. Signed Stimulus. Pushing single payer healthcare system. ...any more questions?

  19. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight...
  20. Again with this same old crap. Let's see, where do I start? Bush's spending and the support he got from the anything but fiscally conservative 2000-2006 Republican congress = Disgusting. I'd like to see the posts where the folks who are against the Obama administration's policies were in here Rah-Rahing out of control government spending and the growth in entitlement programs under Bush and his Republican congress. The economy went south BECAUSE of government controls, not a lack thereof, i.e. government meddling in housing policy - ...and it should be noted that there was a Democratic congress in place at the time. The Bail-Outs (i.e. TARP) were pushed for and VOTED for in the positive by Obama and signed into law by Bush. You don't get to put that one off on Bush and pretend it would have been different under Obama. ...and most conservatives I know were against the TARP bail outs AND were vocal about it on this board. The Iraq argument is over dude. Agree to disagree. WMD or no WMD, the folks who think that war was Just (which includes a majority of men and women who fought said war) think it was just, and the folks who don't... don't. It isn't going to change. You'll find no traction with this wholly stale point anymore. It's over, people have made up their minds, let it go. No, I didn't think the War in Iraq was disgusting. No, but I REALLY hope you and the folks who think like you keep thinking that. The reason they were thrown out of office is because they stopped being conservative and became the democrat lite. Democrats weren't swept into office because a Majority of the country agrees with their over-reaching liberal policies (as is borne out in the polls against the Healthcare reform and Cap and Trade). They were swept into office because the Republicans forgot who they were and started acting like everyone else in Washington. They were swept into office because instead of a true Conservative the party nominated a left of center liberal "Republican" who truly was going to be another 4 years of Bush where it mattered -Spend, Spend, Spend, Spend. ...Iraq was not popular, no doubt. ...but an unpopular war is only going to benefit the other party so long as the war is fresh in mind. For someone who was such an irrelevant boob, you guys sure are fixated on her. I wonder why... Selective disgust goes both ways my friend. What I find disgusting is the inability for people to call out the folks they voted for based on a look at each policy. In this case, I find this action disgusting. Not because it is the Obama administration, but because it is the wrong thing to do and sends the wrong message to would be terrorists and our allies alike. ...I found the TARP bill disgusting. Not because the Bush administration backed it, but because it was the wrong thing to do, and would have (and has had) a negative impact on the economy. I thought the Medicare prescription drug benefit was disgusting because the state and federal governments couldn't (and can't) meet their existing obligations under Medicare and Social Security, yet here was a Republican congress and President pushing for the largest entitlement in history. I don't give a rat's ass WHO is pushing the policy, I care about the policy. Our inability to put the fact that we admire someone and having the balls to look at each of their policies one by one honestly is part of the problem with politics in this country anymore. It's become a cult of personality thing - if MY GUY supports it, it must be good... ...well, not really. In this case, the fact that someone who devised and executed an act of war upon this country is being tried as a common criminal in the Justice system instead of being treated like a warrior in a military tribunal as is the correct thing to do based on historical precedent, particularly in the place where he committed his act is disgusting. The City and State of New York should not have to use their resources on such a trial. Constitutional protections should not be extended to this Prisoner of War. There is no valid reason to do this and the precedent is dangerous. I don't care if the AG worked for President Obama or President McCain. THIS IS WRONG, and is is wrong on the basis of the facts, not because of the name or the letter (D or R) behind the name of the President.
  21. I'll be there...
  22. While I agree, what more would you expect? ...you're sort of preaching to the converted here. This AD, like or dislike the body of his work, has made HUGE changes in the areas he has direct influence over. Ten years from now, we may look back and call the Dodge experiment a success or failure based on how the rest of this year and next year plays out, but you will have to admit that under RV - UNT won 4 conference titles in football. UNT went to 4 Bowl Games. UNT had a trip to the NCAA Tourney. UNT hired Johnny Jones. UNT built a world class Athletic Complex. UNT built a world class Football Stadium. Now, given the state of UNT Athletics when RV took over, I'm trying to see what AD in the NCAA has done this well? ...moreover, look at the School's former AD's. Who's even close in our history? Then on to the administration - well, we've got a President who clearly cares about Athletics and isn't a pointy head academic who can't see the forest for the trees and doesn't understand the impact successful athletics have on the academic success of the school. This woman is sharp, and has really gone all in (especially when compared to former Presidents) to push this athletic program ahead. When I graduated in 1999, the Alumni Association was a disorganized mess, and today is a strong organization with a real presence. ...and let's not point ANY fingers at Student Government, who for the first time during my tenure following UNT, has stepped up and backed Athletics in a way never before seen on campus. ...so now we're down to "all of us." Well, I think "All of Us" have done a lot for this program. Not everyone can participate at the same level, but we're all here because we care. We go to the games because we care. We bitch and moan and scream and demand this or that of the coaches and athletic department because we care. This is a slow process. The culture is changing. People who graduate are staying a part of their school after they leave in greater numbers now than ever before. Are things perfect? No. We know the Athletic Department isn't always on top of getting the news out. ...but is everyone here signed up for the e-mail announcements they send out? ...I got proably 5 e-mails from UNT athletics this weekend alone. I guess what I'm saying is that its not that I don't agree with you, but its that I think these things are happening - maybe not as quickly as we'd all like, but they are happening. Keep the faith, keep supporting our teams, and keep your chin up when things are down. The culture has changed greatly at UNT since 1999, a decade ago, when I graduated, and it is still on the climb. GO MEAN GREEN!
  23. That wasn't last year... OU went into the Nat'l title game with one loss - to Texas. ...I may have to photoshop Emmit's avatar with a frog. UT is the better team, IMHO, but like it has been said, we'd know for sure with a playoff system. Isn't it a shame? But hey, maybe Florida loses a game when they aren't expecting it and then beats Bama in the SEC Champ. game... or vise versa. The book hasn't been finished on this season yet. Strange things happen. I'd Love to see TCU and UT lock horns (PUN!) in the National Title Game. What a great day for Texas that would be!
