This is a garbage road team. 1 point out of a possible 6 against Carolina, Florida and Tampa Bay. I'm not really sure what this team is and what it can be but it is beyond my comprehension why we continue to have Patteryn and Oleksiak out there every night and I'll also include Hamhius. There is no reason Honka should be in Austin right now....he needs to be with the big club and I can handle him making mistakes because he's young and learning but not the other guys. AND he will help with this team's offense. Other than Benn, Seguin, Radulov & Klingberg this team cannot score still. I get we're just a quarter of the way through the season with a lot of hockey left but man this does not look any better than average. Matinee home game tomorrow against Connor McDavid against the Oilers and it wouldn't surprise me if they put a stomping on Dallas.

I like the 4pm kickoffs but I wouldn't want to do them for the first 2-3 home games because it's still usually balls hot and sun still out staring right at you.
-
Yep I mentioned they along with most schools around here had club teams. If there was some partnership with the Stars, a Stars Center could be built in Denton and they wouldn't have to go to Frisco. I've heard that a center in Denton is in the works again but not sure how close they are to it. Absolutely UNT can rent ice time but the intentions should be based on forward thinking. Building a multi purpose arena that can also be configured and setup for hockey would be essential. It would be silly not to go that route IMO. If you're going to spend time, energy and millions of dollar then do it right is all I'm saying. I obviously know it's a wish list and something that would happen way in the future if at all after Baseball but I really don't think it's out of the realm of possibility to think that we along with other major schools in the state get into D1 NCAA hockey.
-
If we're going to build an arena I'd like us to be forward thinking for sure. I'm not saying it should or needs to be 10K but I wouldn't want something smaller than about 8k. We need to ensure that the arena is multi purpose for virtually anything including ice hockey. Hockey is growing the south. All schools around here and around the state have club teams and it's only a matter of time that more and more schools here will develop interest and make the move to NCAA D1 ice hockey. Arizona State started couple of years ago, Alabama Huntsville has one and Nebraska Omaha has a program. I read a year or two ago that University of Alabama isn't far away from really taking that legitimate step. I've always felt a D1 ice hockey program would be so awesome and great for the school and the hockey market here. It can be pricey however this is where we can develop partnership with the Stars to jump start funding and interest. Not only could we have an ice hockey program but that arena could also host various hockey tournaments as well from a local and national level. The younger people are gravitating towards sports like soccer, ice hockey etc...I feel that's an opportunity. If that wasn't a direction WB would go they could always partner with the Stars and build a DP Stars Center in Denton with the idea that they would have a rink that could seat about 3-5K people and our team could play their games there.

I'm ok with it if it's maybe once in a blue moon....like possibly once a year or every other year which may also mean we could play a road game on that day. That being said I'd be more ok with it if it were on Thursday or Friday. The games that are on Tuesday and Wednesday are just not that worth it to me because our attendance issues are still there. If we can prove that we can virtually sell out or get a really really good crowd regardless of day then I'll be more open to that idea in a once in a while basis.

Under Seth Littrell, UNT is now 6-1 in one score games

The goal is to win the game...they did. It just takes 1 point to win so I don't understand the issue. We are happy because the alternative outcome was losing...so why won't the fans be happy when we not only won but ALSO became bowl eligible. I don't care if they're just 2nd, 3rd, or 10th teamers. There are two teams trying to win a game and have self pride to go out there an give it their all not to mention they were playing at home. The average/casual fan/person does not give a rip how many points we won by, what the detailed statistics are etc. The bottom line people will ask and want to know is did they win or lose and what is their record. Our recruiting has sucked because the product on the field has been utter garbage. I don't care who/what you are, you will not recruit well if you're perennial losers for much of our history. We're seeing improvement and it appears the program is truly being rebuilt and rebuilt the right way. Let's just hope the momentum continues and if/when it does you'll see a huge spike in recruiting. This will take time...this is not a quick fix in Denton. -

I'm not really sure what this thread has turned into and what the hell we're arguing about. It's beyond me why we need to apologize for wins. We are effing 6-3 for crying out loud and have a chance to do even more special things this season. College sports fans are the worst. -
While we're pointing out how mediocre we are

On another not I believe Coach Bro has a buyout of like 7 or 8 million. Even for rich P5 programs I've read that it's super rare that schools will dish that out. I get that it's been Tech's MO for a while but if Coach Bro can just get a respectable defense they'd be able to win a lot more. I heard on the ticket few weeks back that when they give up like 30 points or 35 points and under they're undefeated in his tenure. Not sure if that's change but it was some weeks back. -
Haha oh ya believe me I wouldn't say I'm old but I'm reaching the age too where I'm already starting to think about wrapping up and going home at about 10:30 when I'm out and about. This is really aimed at the younger people and ones that like to party. Many times people don't start showing up to parties until about 9-11pm . As I always say...if people have the desire to show up in anything in life they will....no reason why most people couldn't accomplish both last night if that was indeed the reason of piss poor attendance. Game ended at 9...night is still young for many.
-
I don't see how this really helps. Then you'll have people say that they can't come because they have other commitments w/their kids activities etc during the day. I really don't think moving the time helps. I've been to plenty of parties in my life and I and everyone on this board very well know that things don't start happening til late. The game ended around 9pm last night...people could have come and went straight to the party after the game if they wanted. Heck if they needed to get ready they could still go home, dress up and be at their party no later than 10:30. I just think it's overthinking things....unless we were undefeated or had 1 loss I'm not sure attendance is all that much better last night.
-
Keep doing what you're doing Austin. That said don't expect others to do what you do. Me personally...I'm just not an over the top loud and rowdy person at sporting events. It's just me and my personality I guess but it doesn't mean I care any less than anyone else. I think of all the things to complain about I think this is right at or near the bottom of the list.
-
It was never just one thing. We need/needed all of these things to happen but really the main thing is consistent and big winning. We've been awfully bad for way too long and way too often after decent years for people to take us seriously. At this point I'm just so beaten down about looking at and complaining about our attendance. We and folks on this board are not the casual/fringe fan but if I look at things rationally from their perspective I'm not surprised seeing apathy that's been extremely rock hard to break. I think we're better now than we were 10-15 years ago but we have long long way to go.
-
Really poor attendance but just keep on winning and give folks more of a reason to get inside Apogee.

Team turned things around well. Tough loss last night but playing in Denver has just been a huge challenge for them for several years now. I worry about scoring...after Benn, Seguin, and Klingbeg I'm just not sure how we'll get pucks in the net. Spezza is the biggest mystery to me and his playing time so far is much less than last year. I'm not sure if he's in a funk, it's the structure & system, guys he's playing with or what not but he's played w/different combinations on the wing and still struggling. I doubt Hitch would ever try to resurrect the supernova line with the pairing of Benn, Seguin & Spezza for small segments just to see if it can jump start Spezza but it's concerning even though we're just 9 games into the season. Big and important trip to Canada and I don't think it'll be easy I'd love to get 5 out of 8 pts in the rest of the road trip against Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver & Winnipeg.

General admission ticket prices? (range)
Green Mean replied to Rubicon's topic in Mean Green Football
I'd just get the cheapest tickets available and once you're in there'll be ample seats available to move around and sit wherever you want. Because it's Army there might be a decent crowd and a better crowd if say we have 7 wins going into that game but there should still plenty of space to move around. -

Just an awful first quarter. At the very least looking forward to hockey and baseball tonight. -

The play by play guy is alright but the commentator is awful. There are so many people including young guys trying to get a job like this that would be so much better. I'm sure he's a nice guy and all but even if I were an FAU fan this guy would bore me to all holy hell. -

Trying to watch through the watchespn app on Roku or Fire TV however when trying to log in to my subscriber I don't see Time Warner/Spectrum in the listings. Is anyone else have this issue? It's frustrating as hell as I've logged in before just fine. -
I like them. I wish we went the throwback route this week since we are honoring Hayden Fry. That said anything is better than what we endured during most of RV's tenure with boring unis with the most boring helmets always saying North Texas IMHO. All that said, nobody will care if we win.

Can you eat 200 Chick Fil A chicken nuggets in 2 hours?

It might just be my imagination but it just seems to really thin out in the 2nd half both in seats and in the inside of the club. Yeah I'm about 3/4 of the way paying the donation and looking to pay it all off sometime before next season. I would think some would a tad disgruntled but I don't see the number lowering all THAT much if they go that route.
-
Let's hope many of those folks don't leave by the 3rd quarter like they seem to do at the club level.
