I'm not sure how it is now but my buddy who is an alum there said that as of a couple of years the students at TT could get into the game for free with a student ID.

Steve Patterson is Texas' new athletics director
Green Mean replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
A lot of what I read wasn't only about money. He had issue with commitment from the higher ups at UH in terms of facilities etc. That's why he made the move to SMU. Sure he got a nice pay raise with the move but he also saw a chance to be backed up by alumni with a lot of commitment from their alumni with very very deep pockets. Considering where SMU had been he's done a great job but considering what I think a lot of the expectations were from the SMU boosters, I'd say it hasn't really fit the billing just yet. -

I'm not totally disagreeing with you but USC is one of the most storied CFB programs in history. They'll be able to give Sumlin a very nice payday and that in itself should at least give Sumlin something to think about very very hard. If USC made him a big boy offer it wouldn't surprise me to see him bolt College Station. Actually if I am USC I'm considering going after Sumlin but more so than him I'd go all in for Art Briles. I can't see Briles staying in Waco very much longer unless he's one of those exceptions like a Beamer or Snyder. -
A few fans on here consider SMU a rival but that's not the case. SMU does not consider us a rival one bit. To a degree in their delusional minds a lot of them including their old guard probably refuse to acknowledge us. Teams can have multiple rivals but as of right now there is no "Rivalry" between NT and SMU IMO.

I'm expecting them to be mostly inconsistent throughout the whole season but they have enough top level talent that they'll win games against a Boston, SJ etc and go on a good and deep roll. Their blue line is still very suspect but I imagine they'll get a little better. We're seeing Gonchar and Goligoski play a little better now. The kids will continue to develop down in Austin or overseas and I don't expect to see Oleksiak, Nemeth, Klingberg, and Jokipakka untill the start of next season and season after. Ideally I think they should be ready to be legitimate Cup contenders in about 3 years. Playoffs this season is a tossup but if I had to bet on it I'll say they barely get in assuming Kari is healthy the rest of the season. It's really a great time to be a Stars fan. They're still rebuilding and going through growing pains but the outlook of this organization is super super bright.

I've always expressed a desire to be in the MWC and truth be told still do if they're willing to take 3 other schools in TX or near us to get in. That said tho we're fine in CUSA right now. Let's enjoy the success and continue to build upon that. CUSA is an absolute upgrade to the SBC for overall perception and the fact that they have more bowl tie ins. Let's have continued and sustained success and let's see how things end up.

My guess is if/when he gets a raise/extension he will be 2nd in the conference.

Rivalry Trophies and Starting a Tradition
Green Mean replied to casual fan's topic in Mean Green Football
Let the rivalries naturally develop. When it's ready they can have a name/trophy linked to it. -
The money people can think all they want but at what point do you start to look at the bottom line and have a short leash on him?

I think you mean Hindi. That said I'm not sure that language is all that beneficial. Sure if you speak Hindi, then you can speak Urdu pretty well but there's so many languages within India and Pakistan (India especially) that the common ground language spoken in the corporate world and even government is English. Spanish, Chinese, Arabic, Portuguese, and French are probably the ones you will get the most benefit from IMO.

I can't really say that I believe in "trap games".

Southern Miss and UAB will join C-USA West

Are UAB still planning on building a new stadjum? I remember them having quite a few hurdles with that a few years ago. -
Pulling for UTSA to beat Tulane in Alamodome Sat.
Green Mean replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
These arguments are weak when delusional CFB fans are blinded by their homerism. Rice lost to the better team. UTSA lost to the better team. What matters is scoreboard. Nothing more, nothing less. -
Would we need to raise the money for a potential buyout? I thought the funds situation was much better off now after the student athletic fee was kicking in. And that could depend if we decide to extend Mac's contract and give him and the whole coaching staff a raise.

Truth be told I wasn't planning on buying season tickets but the tickets rep called me to follow up and the NT homer in me gave in and bought it for the season. He ended up discounting them a little bit because I think they knew a lot or some people wouldn't be renewing and coming back this season.

Obviously it was a bit of sarcasm but then again it would not surprise me if it ended up being a strong rivalry over time. -

These threads and back and forth bickering seem to indicate that before long UTSA and UNT will be each other's biggest rival. -
So even if we were a "commuter" school which clearly is not is there an excuse not attending a game or wanting to attend? I have a lot of friends that are from and live in the Austin area and when they went to UT they commuted. In fact a crap load of UT students don't live on campus and are in fact commuters.

Sure there are a lot of transplants here but I think they're pretty abundant all over the metroplex and even region. With the sheer amount of current students and alums that are in the area there really isn't a reason every sporting goods store shouldn't carry UNT gear. I know for a fact there are plenty of UNT alums in CC, Plano, Richardson etc. They may be in the "I don't care" camp or apathetic but based off of how many alums are all over the metroplex, I would expect to see UNT gear selling everywhere...ideally of course.

I live in Plano and it seems I never see any stores around here and Collin County area in general carry UNT gear.
