Why give him a lifetime contract? Just up his salary, extend him for a few more years and make him happy. Even the good and great coaches eventually lose their way and I am sorry but this would be a disastrous mistake. This may have been the best season in NT to some but that to me explains just how our football history has been to us. Run the program the right way and don't get carried away. Let's not forget the man was 56-85 at Iowa State.

How about Mean Joe to replace Mike Nelson?
Green Mean replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
We could and should have probably just kept Eagles and have a side nickname as Mean Green. But that's probably a discussion for another time. -
If you have yet to meet an SMU alum you like in your life then don't you think there is a much bigger problem here than the SMU person? It seems rather silly to think you've never met a nice SMU person and normal person like the rest of society. Fair enough...I've had run-ins with SMU people my whole life and for the most part they were all great and normal people. Hard workers like the rest of us that worked their ass off and were far from being "loaded" or "trust fund babies". I don't doubt there are SMU douches but NT had their fair of ones too that I ran into. Douches are everywhere.

MGB: Could Canales be in play at UAB?
Green Mean replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
If you're offered a HC position especially at an FBS school then you take it in a heartbeat. It may be a coach killer program but most if not all coaches have enough pride and ego in them that they think they can be the ones to turn a program around. He will always be able to get assistant jobs afterward if things don't work out. Or if things workout for a year or two then he'll probably be able to jump ship for something better. -
I'm not sure if media is to blame for this but no joke I've run into a few people in real life and a few other forums I a take part in that are NT alums and they had no idea we were even in a bowl game and this was a few days after the game. I was a bit startled and surprised at first by that but it probably just shows how badly decades and decades of disconnect there was and has been with the school and alumni. These folks were older alums as well that were graduates in the 70's and early 80's. There is still lots and lots of work to do to change the image and perception of our school and it starts in-house. We can't lose sight of this IMO.

Will it re-air on FSSW? Would love to DVR it.

No I meant that in 10 years from now the only way I can see us being under that number consistently is if we've reverted back to being real bad and making bad hires and decisions. If we continue our success and do things right then 30K+ is easily attainable.
-
The only way I see putting less than 30K in Apogee is if we go back to being little ol North Texas again and quite frankly start to really stink again. Just thinking about that possibility is really scaring the crap out of me.

He's got baggage but he's hell of a college coach. -
For us to think about expanding we pretty much have to sell out just about every home game no matter what. If we're averaging under 30,500 per game then how do we justify expansion? If you wanted to build the stadium initially at 40 or 50k then it would have made more sense since it probably would have been cheaper with construction costs rather than expanding 5-10-15 years down the line but at this point selling out every single home game on top of having a wait list is the only way we should even remotely think about stadium expansion.

We can't really control what happens on the field. Like others stated we can do our part and continue to support the school, wear our gear, and try to convert as many people as we can into fans. If not die-hards then at least NT can be on their conscience and will think about attending a game or two a season.
-
Hate to break the news to you but the majority of those students are not what you perceive them to be. I saw those same people at NT when I was in school as well. Every school have their douches.
-
I disagree. I live in Plano and drive to Denton anytime I can to attend games. I'm sure some will think that and that is fine. Those people exist everywhere. I have Texas friends and they didn't care to go to FW when they were playing TCU this past season. People don't go to Rangers games that live pretty far from Arlington because it's too damn far and can be a beating. Those that will want to make that kind of excuse will make them. We need to give people a reason to come. We had a great season but we better continue to keep it up and be on the upswing. Once that happens things will slowly change. It's a process.

The ones who messed it up and still signed off on it should be the ones paying for it. Just sayin....

I'm pretty sure there are clauses in there that can make one of the teams get out of the series if one so desperately wishes and chooses.
