UT is not worried about North Texas, at all.
Green Mean replied to Ben Gooding's topic in Mean Green Football
There are publications where I've seen them among the top 50 or 100 best universities in the world. Most people do look at that and greatly value those lists and rankings. A lot of that comes from the sheer money they're able to generate and athletics is a big reason. Why? Well we know how athletics can instill school pride in you which leads to caring and more involvement in your school. Once you reach that level you'll be more inclined to want to give back so you'll donate money etc. Again this stuff is pretty obvious of why athletics is important and is the reason why we've been on a quest to improve our athletics reputation here at NT. School sports is a business. Let's not lose sight of that. -
Again the fighting is always who is going to pay for it but the bottom line for me is actual cost of healthcare. The prices are out of control and continuing to do so. I'm no expert in this but I think most can agree regardless of party affiliation that serious reform is needed to control the actual cost of healthcare.

It's foolish to think they have no correlation whatsoever. -
Cowboys ?

Jerry's mis-management contributed but this was absolutely the right decision. I don't want to see Hatcher nor Spencer in a Cowboys uniform next season either. -

UT is one of the best academic institutions in the world and have lots of money. Anytime they need to raise funds for academics they're usually pretty covered. If you don't think athletics plays a role in that then I'm pretty surprised. Athletics success is VERY crucial to have. -

Demarcus Ware released. -
What a freaking super and ultimate high on Saturday and the lows of last night. Glad to see Pevs better and by all indications if it were any other location he probably would not have made it. They may be completely obliterated tonight against the Blues or they may just have this super rally and get an epic and emotional team win. Will be an interesting game to watch for sure.

There is where the problem lies. Will we ever realistically become UT? The odds do not favor us but we need to strive to be them and any other the big boy athletic programs. These athletic programs do not just benefit sports but benefits the whole university from top to bottom and you gain life long die hard fans and alums with athletics success. -

Yes there's a green carpet event where a bunch of former players will be walking on. The ceremony starts at 6 on the dot and supposedly there is a major surprise to begin it which is why everyone is saying to be in the seats by 545ish. I don't think it will happen but I really hope almost everybody does arrive and are in their seats when the ceremony begins. It will be really wheels off if there are large patches of empty seats. Really don't see Goose going anywhere. He plays a ton and has played much better as of late. Any hopes for a Gonchar trade is beyond wishful thinking. He's played better since the beginning of the season and plus he'll play out the full length of his 2 year deal here because of Val. Realistically I think the guys that could be dealt by tomorrow are Robi and Fiddler but we've seen how much of an asset he is on this team even though he's not likely be be back next season. And with Robi I'd love to see him finish his career as a Star but know that may not be likely.

Bought season tickets (which I still don't know why) but haven't been to a game yet this season. I just haven't been able to justify driving to Denton and watching this team where as before I would do whatever it took to make time and go see a game. May attend the last game to bid farewell to the Sr's who deserve it if work lets me.

So one douche swayed your opinion into thinking everyone involved at SMU thinks the same way? That's pretty sad. BTW who cares what he wears...lots of people wear Sperry. We've got our fair share of douches at NT also..at least when I attended there. -
How does it not? Still a young player that was just named captain to his team few months ago. Never been to the playoffs but trying to lead his team. He's playing with the best players in the world on the same team and he's standing individually out and having success. Yes that only helps going forward in terms of leadership, maturing, and taking the next steps on learning how to win. Not saying he couldn't do that if he wasn't on the Olympics this year but attitude and perspective can certainly change when you go through these experiences.

Ummm you would be really surprised that most of SMU actually does consist of normal human beings just like every other college in America. And the thinking that everyone at SMU came from wealth or upper middle class families is the biggest misconception and nonsense.
