The team will have to start well enough where they're not fighting to dig out of their hole created the rest of the season. If they really struggle out of the gate and goes on for a few months I can see Lindy getting the boot middle of the season. Personally not enough has been made about Fraser's job as the offense scores goals but it seems like it's never consistent with authority and the PP is always hit or miss. Defensively we know the talent just lacked here for many years so it's hard to really blame anything other than not being able to acquire talent for a long time.. At this point there's no excuse...it may not be a well oiled machine but they should be significantly better with the young players taking their share of lumps but that's completely fine by me. Bingo. The timing and place of Joe was nothing but a lose lose situation for him. When Joe arrived there was literally no young talent whatsoever in the organization. I guess Benn was but at the time I don't think the organization knew how good Benn was or was going to be. Despite the things you mentioned he was able to build the farm pretty well and stocked up on talent. That talent aided us in getting Seguin and Spezza and there's still lots of talented kids in the organization that should be contributors for this team now and in the future. Joe was great here for what he had to work with and he made a few decisions I didn't like but those just come with the territory and at the time I didn't fault him too much for decisions of Modano and Tippet even though those turned out to be disaster.

To be fair his head coaching record tells us he doesn't really need to tell us that at all.

Glad I haven't been the only one thinking the same thing.

I've had only one conversation with him when Reggie was out that day or something and I needed some stuff regarding my account and he didn't seem all that pleasant to talk to.

I don't care what team/institution/business you are but they will not get the support until they give people a reason to support them. We have almost EVERYTHING in place to absolutely burst into a very good to great program because until you get great products and results on the field/court etc people will not go out of their way to support something. The school has made it a point for the last decade or so to increase school pride amongst the student body etc and there is a difference but where we need to be and want to be we have to give serious priority and attention to athletics and the bottom line results. We have all these nice facilities and upgrades now but they mean absolutely nothing when people don't care to go because the teams suck in the sports that people care about. The fact that RV, Dodge, Mac, Benford have kept their jobs here as long as they have/did with their overall track record leads me to believe that either the school is incompetent or they just don't care tho it may be both. I realize yesterday's attendance wasn't amazing by any means but given the amount of crappy and embarrassing football that we've had for a decade I'd say 19-20K is actually pretty darn good. Our alumni and students are wanting and begging to support our teams but when you look at things rationally exactly what incentive do they have?

Yet someone like Arkansas State doesn't have SMU money and they went from Hugh Freeze to Guz Malzahn, Bryan Harsin to now Blake Anderson who went to a bowl game last year and won in his first year as head coach. While money is important the idea that you need money to make good hires and slowly but surely elevate your program and profile is absolutely false.

Useless coach speak

He better start winning now because his 78-113 career record as a head coach suggests anything but a winning coach.

MGB breaking news -- UNT athletics gets $1.25 mil. donation
Green Mean replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Yes this donation was under the current AD's watch but when you donate that type of money more likely than not you're donating for your love/attachment to the university and not because a certain someone is holding the AD position. As previous posters said, he is a UNT graduate and was heavily involved with the university anyways including regularly attending games at Apogee. That said thank you sir for your generous gift. -

2015 President's State of the University Address
Green Mean replied to Christopher Walker's topic in Mean Green Football
Probably to give more options for commuters and may alleviate some traffic. Plus I'm sure the revenue possibilities are nice with doing that. Seems like most schools are starting to do that in the big cities. -

I'm no student and haven't been in near a decade but I've read several comments that even ones that leave early and try to find alternative ways to get to school they still make the overall time of commute super long. -
If RV is untouchable then man our standards at North Texas are really screwed up.

"First place Texas Rangers"... -
The irony is RV gave a 5 year contract to Mac who had a 56-85 HC record. That is an awful coach.

Ticket reporting that UT AD will be fired
Green Mean replied to UNT90's topic in Mean Green Football
Not necessarily disagreeing with you but what RV has been able to do is somewhat commendable I guess but he hasn't exceeded expectations in my view. What he has done facilities wise is just being able to catch up with the rest of the nation. To me he exceeds expectations if he does all those facilities, makes good hires and has a great record in each of the sports (at least the ones that are important and people care about). Many talk about the great things RV has done but since I've follow the program I've never heard anything about other programs wanting to lure RV away from Denton to be the AD of their school. Yes we're not UT but I think the point people are trying to make is it's all about standards and expectations. Given where we are in the totem pole our expectations and standards are virtually non-existent. Hoping Smatresk is different and the real deal but until I see it first hand I'll always be skeptical and not trust the schools' higher ups. And crap I know many don't want to compare ourselves with the big boys but why the F not? You only increase your profile and value of your university if you try to model and compare yourself to things better than you. That's how we'll get better IMO. -
Jub was just talking about the game and his experience on Saturday and no mention of how bad NT looked and any criticism to the offense and Mac.
