We can recover but the main question is do we and specifically the powers that be really want us to totally recover and turn everything around? I have my doubts.

Last year's SMU team would absolutely embarrass us.

It's such a beat down watching Hamilton up to bat. -
Health will be key and since this is year 2 here he should be all settled in. If he gets more aggressive and take more shots he'll get some great results. I know he is what he is and people have been trying to get him to shoot more since his days with the Oilers but he can be so damn productive if he shoots more. I was watching on TV as well and I think there were quite a few Pens fans but it was nice to see they literally had zilch to cheer and be happy about last night. The row behind the Pens bench on TV was so great b/c they looked so pissed off and defeated.

Great win but baseball is a funny game because we may win today against Price but Toronto can come out tomorrow and beat our ace in Hamels. I am glad we did get at least one win in a raucous Skydome. And Roogie is such a little punk badass. -

Ok ya I don't recall how the post season stuff since I've got a cable package as well but unless something has changed you don't have to have cable to get MLB TV during the regular season if I recall. -

Not true. All you need to do is register and there's 2 options, one that's 20/month and the other 25/month. No contract or anything and you can cancel anytime so essentially you can have it for what 6-7 months and you get all the baseball you need. I've got a Roku 3 connected to my TV and there's an MLB TV channel on there so the quality and setup is really great. I've got the more expensive plan but I don't recall the difference but I remember it had a few extra features I really liked and wanted to have. -

MLB TV is a great option. You won't get much chance to watch Texas or Houston but for the rest of baseball it's a great thing to have and I'm happy with it. -

Very quiet stadium last night. Granted they didn't have much to cheer for getting shutout but that same game is in the old Yankee Stadium and I think the vibe and atmosphere is a little different. -
5 most important qualities needed in a the next head coach
Green Mean replied to casual fan's topic in Mean Green Football
They don't have to learn/know how to recruit Texas. If you can just recruit period and are a good coach that can sell your ideas and the program then I could really care less where you're coming from. I just want the best possible candidate coming here. It's not hard to recruit Texas because there's a plethora of players and talent here. It's having a good system in place and learning how to develop players to create a consistency of winning. -
MGB: McCarney says there is no such thing as a "gamer"

On the bright side the more losses he piles up the better the chance he'll get canned right? Right? -
McCarney says UNT’s sticking with McNulty
Green Mean replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
He's milking it for whatever he can and I don't blame him. He knows he'll never get another HC job at any level and will be lucky to get a decent assistant spare coach job at a good university. Believe he's said many times he'll be retiring on the beach in Florida and he has absolutely no reason to go away at this point on his own. -

Can we hire the guy we should have hired in 2010 now?
Green Mean replied to gangrene's topic in Mean Green Football
Not confirmed but I believe he wanted to stick around because he was from the area and if he did and continued to be successful at FIU that he would essentially have a chance at his dream job at Miami since that was his alma mater if I recall. -

60K? The park now has 50K and you can make the argument even that's a bit too big but I wouldn't build anything past 50 at the most. A downtown stadium is my wish as well where we can see the city buildings when the roof is open. Being in Arlington I think both cities/areas have supported them. I think a downtown stadium in Dallas would be ideal where fans can take the rail to game and back. Plus majority of the population is on that side in addition to the corporate avenues you can take advantage of in Dallas all the way up north to Plano etc. Once the gas prices increased and traffic became awful most of the North Dallas and above stopped going to games and I think a move would bring them back. I'd also make sure the stadium is in a location in downtown where the TRE goes straight there so you can keep the FW crowd interested. You offer the deal that for anyone that buys any type of ticket plans, they'll also include free train passes for all the gamedays as an added perk. We know in the near future Arlington won't have any type of viable mass transportation going to the games which I think hurts attendance for the Rangers. I think this would help with attendance during years the teams are struggling as well because they won't be as far, the stadium will have a roof, and they'll have access to getting there through the rail if they so wish. I believe the lease runs out on the park in about 10 years so there's still a little bit of time left but I imagine ownership will begin to start conversations within the next 5 years to get something done because as much as I love the park and how beautiful it is I think they'll want a build a new one with a roof somewhere. -
Toledo is located in a region that has quite a bit of talent in football from what I understand.

He's a complete idiot when he talks hockey in addition to him dressing like a moron but ok that's his bit so let it be. He is VERY Canadian and he doesn't really have any positive thoughts or use of of people outside of North America. It's well documented he's pretty much an elitist, bigot, racist etc. I've heard him numerous times speak not so fondly about hockey overseas and he has major favoritism to the North American brand in addition to North American players usually. My GF is Canadian and I've spent a ton of time in Canada and I can assure you that most of the people there I've ever spoken too all think Don Cherry is a complete idiot and are embarrassed that he's considered/labeled like Canadian royalty. I've often heard the comparison of Don Cherry being like what John Madden is here and I don't know how one can come up with that comparison but it is what it is I guess. As for the Stars I'm excited for the season to start just because I love hockey but I'm a little cautious in what to expect b/c they did not have a great preseason. I get it's preseason but this team hasn't proven itself yet and so far haven't been good enough to say it's just preseason we'll be fine in the regular season. I won't pretend to act like I've seen all the games etc but I've just seen small doses and I'd be lying to you if I said I wasn't concerned at all.

I can't see Hitch being successful with personnel that is almost the opposite of what he wants in his system. We always hear good coaches can and should adapt but I tend to feel the total opposite. Coaches typically have the biggest ego that's too big for their sake and they'll always want to have their guys that can execute the type of style they want their team to play. And based on his first stint in Dallas several players were worn out on Hitch but because they were a special bunch and kept on winning that kinda cured a lot. We don't have to look that far just go the football board and you'll see the arrogance displayed.
