  1. Seems Richt never lived up to expectations from a national level. Seems like far too often it was time for it to be UGA's year to really compete for a championship and dominate and they just can never get over that hump.
  2. It makes all the sense in the world to do that but it's North Texas so that would never happen.
  3. They both have ties to the state so in this case that part of it evens out. Meachan has only been with TCU for a few years. I want the best coach not the best recruiter. If you're a good coach with a great game plan then you will be able to recruit anywhere. I'm no expert of course but in my very non-professional opinion Littrell seems to be the guy with the highest ceiling. But hey we could both be really really wrong or really really right.
  4. With the amount of talent in this state and in this area if the coach is good, competent and knows how to build relationship along with his staff then no it won't matter. As I've said in other posts we're not Wyoming where you really need to know how to recruit and lure people from other states to play there. No disrespect to Wyoming btw.
  5. Big boy win and big boy comeback last night. They've been awful playing there for quite some time now and to have a win/comeback like that was spectacular. I think much more is expected from Minny and I can see a Yeo firing being discussed if they continue to be ho-hum.
  6. Agree I was speaking in terms of the moniker. I'd always known us as the North Texas Eagles and changing that was a mistake IMO. We still could have been the Mean Green as an official/unofficial moniker but you know what I'm saying.
  7. Everybody recruits this state in some way shape or form. As I've said in previous posts that it should be relatively easy to recruit in this state with the amount of talented players in this state and around this region. Go with the best coach that can coach up players and a team. I could care less if they have Texas ties or not. It's all about relationship building from the point they're hired IMO.
  8. LIttrell seems to have the higher ceiling. And we don't 'need' to have a guy that recruits this state...it's pretty obvious they'll have to recruit here. There is an abundance of talent in this state so if he is a good coach with a good game plan that can connect with HS coaches then he'll be able to recruit. It's not like he has to go to Wyoming to recruit. Now if you tell me someone has to be ready and know how to recruit players to Wyoming then yes but I think people are making knowing how to recruit Texas a bigger deal than what it really is IMO.
  9. Perhaps I'm in the minority but this is what we were in for when the name changed from Eagles to Mean Green officially in 2002 or whenever that was. We should have officially remained the North Texas Eagles with Mean Green being an additional nickname but that's just my opinion and I'm probably in the very very small minority at this point.
  10. I'm kinda sold on Seth Littrell myself. But hiring coaches is a very inexact science so and much much more so with RV making the decisions so ya who the heck knows.
  11. Before Fran took over was a long time ago. I'm not that old but I'm not that young either. I remember when TCU sucked. We're approaching 20 years since Fran took over which was in 98 and have been good/great/relevant since then. They've done so great that they're in a P5 and still super successful.
  12. I don't think it really matters if the HC understands our situation and our problems here. It's not hard to see what's lagging here and many other programs similar to ours...the coach's job is to win games and unfortunately there isn't an exact science on hiring coaches who will turn out to be successful. No matter our problems coaches have humongous egos and they'll think they can be the savior in any program out there. The issue has been hiring which have turned out awful over and over again. Maybe we need someone that doesn't understand our problems and think its ridiculous that we're in the state we're in so he can infuse some hope and try to change things for the great good. But at the end of the day none of it matters if you wont win games. I don't care how many alums we have in our area but nobody wants to see perpetual losers and god awful products on the field/court etc.
  13. Much ado about nothing...
  14. Give me someone that can coach and coach a team up over being stellar recruiter any day of the week. As long as the HC hires competent assistants that can recruit we'll be ok because we need coaches that know how to coach a team up because we won't win very many major recruiting battles for at least a few years until the team is proven to be good and players want to come here.
  15. They've been good to great since Fran took over which must have been in the late 90's early 2000's So yes it's been quite a while since they've been perpetually bad IMO.
  16. FIFY
  17. Had a hunch Anaheim would find their scoring stride against Dallas tonight and they have with 3 goals the last 4 or 5 mins of the first period.
  18. This team just looks good and cohesive. It's truly amazing what they've done to start the season versus what very little I saw and heard a lot about the terrible preseason. While this type of run will hardly last a long time I think we're getting more and more closer in saying that this team has finally arrived in being a truly good team that can compete for nice good long playoff/cup runs.
  19. What has the school done to truly increase the fan base? The football team has been in utter shambles for a decade except for one season.
  20. Fans also expect something of substance in return. Time, money, effort etc is all being poured in to going to these games and given what's happened this season and for many many years now people just get tired of it. This isn't to say people aren't pulling for them to win but I think the last thing something should be labeled as pathetic is our fan base.
  21. What incentive do people have going? I mean I ask in all seriousness.
  22. I'm about done with Elvis. Been a staunch defender of his since he arrived in 2009 but I'm ready to see him in another uniform.
  23. I would be so on board with Brady Hoke
  24. Yes they won in 99 and lost it in 00 but they were a playoff team in I believe all but 1 maybe 2 seasons from 93 until 2008 when they made that run to the WCF. The wheels fell off after that organizationally but a few things happened, the team wasn't drafting and scouting well and Tom Hicks failed to spend enough money to get good players in here. If I recall they would always be a decent amount of money under the salary cap and that's just unacceptable considering Dallas is a top 4 or 5 market. They got relevant a few years ago although they're still not there quite yet but comparing the Stars to the Texans, Browns etc is rather silly.
