Texas Rangers 2016
Green Mean replied to FirefightnRick's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Relief pitchers and the bullpen is always a year to year proposition. Obviously I get Chapman is really good and has been for some time now but you always take an every day very very good player than That may save you 35-45 games given he has that many chances to begin with. Again the issue hasn't been that the bullpen is just bad but the fact that starting pitching has been god awful for about a month or month and a half now and they can't get deep into games resulting in arms just getting overworked, tired and not pitching to their capability. Desmond carried the team for the first couple of months in the season and even now he's still prob their best offensive player that is playing at a high level. Sure he's having a career year but I think think the situation here as well as his position change played a significant role in that and could very well do so going forward as well. -

In no way shape or form am I taking Chapman over Desmond. Desmond has been the team's MVP this season without any question whatsoever. Maybe I'm overreacting and he's having a career year when he's going to be a FA but I would LOVE to see him sign a long term deal here because I think the move to the OF will better help his future years and his production. You could a bullpen full of Chapmans and Mariano Rivera's but they're only going to be as good as the starting pitching is. If the starters fail to consistently make it to the 6th and 7th innings at least then they'll still burn out those arms. -
Or we as a university can step up and say you've done a hell of a job and we're going to match what you get elsewhere and even pay more than that. We basically need to give the great people very little to no incentive on leaving and if it means upping the game in higher salary then it's well worth it.

What Should Be The New ADs First Order Of Business
Green Mean replied to Eagle-96's topic in Mean Green Football
Regarding his personal staff all I hope is Reggie Johnson is kept. That man is a gem and he's the only person in the athletic department I will ever only speak to when I have questions or issues regarding my account and he always delivers. -
Extremely loud and not the biggest fan truth be told. But it should continue to improve over time.

If Cinicinnati Leaves AAC, Who Leaves CUSA To Backfill
Green Mean replied to Eagle-96's topic in Mean Green Football
He was only a "father figure" to him because Iverson could put the ball in the hole at will and despite being a father figure I'm not really sure how much Iverson really benefited from all that fatherly advice. -

Why would AAC want North Texas? I don't really care what SMU does...if they want to get out of the agreement? That's fine more power to them although I think it'd be nice for both school to play each other if not every year then on somewhat of a regular basis. The issue with all business associated with North Texas athletics is we can't even think about advancing because we can't and don't win. Just win, win consistently, create a winning culture for all the major and important sports and things will slowly but surely take care of itself. -
What did people honest expect SL's recruiting for this class given the whole situation? Look the reality is that SL and the rest of the coaching staff actually need to coach up the team and all the players and truly develop them for at least the first couple of years before we can expect much higher recruiting rankings IMO. To me that will test and show how good of a job coaching this staff is able to do.

Texas Monthly Writer Bashing the Program
Green Mean replied to jtm0097's topic in Mean Green Football
He's like the other what 100K plus alums that feel about UNT and the athletic programs. Just win and all of this will get cured. -
I'm content facing UNLV and beating them rather easily. I'm not so sure we have a game like that if we're playing a P5 and it could have been a blowout the other way and that would have looked far more poorly from our casual fan base.
-
Does it matter? He's an alum, donates, gives his time and energy and cares about his university. All he is asking and demanding is accountability which severely lacks in regards to UNT athletics.

Been some time I've been to ATL but I don't remember it being in the ghetto. That said almost all the universities in the ghetto areas are usually super safe because the security is extra beefed up.

That's precisely why I look forward to MBB losses. Keep the losses coming boys so we can get Benford out of here!

Traditions are only created for traditional and/or consistent winners. Tradition will never be created and/or sustained if you're perennial losers.

I may be wrong but I believe GS is in the the heart of Downtown Atlanta and like very very near to Georgia Tech.
