  1. That's actually not true. Majority of the people and friends I've known from SMU came from regular to do families and were there on a ton of scholarship money. That's not to say people with money don't go to SMU but there's quite a bit of false assumptions between both schools.
  2. 19K. The fact that it's Labor Day weekend could hurt attendance some as well.
  3. Recruiting rivals? Sure. Beyond that I don't think it's a true rival in the way and form we think of when we think of other sports/college rivalries. At this point who really cares. What else is Chad Morris supposed to say? Sounded like coach speak to me regardless of what he and other SMU people really think IMO.
  4. I was at the West Plano location just the other day actually and they had a sizable North Texas section similar to your picture right between Texas and Texas A&M. It's been there for a while so I really think they do sell a decent amount of NT gear which is good news. I know there's only so much we can spend and support the cause but anytime you see NT merch in these types of places we should try to buy a thing or so.
  5. Nobody is saying not to market the product at all but it's extremely tough coming off a 1-11 season losing to an fcs school by 50 or so points. People aren't showing up due to lack of marketing but because they've been awful to watch. I'm not disagreeing with you in that marketing is key but that's not to blame people not showing up is what I'm saying.
  6. There are different levels of non interested people. Fact is at this point it could be free admission but the product is and has been so bad for so long that we should probably just sticking to the core fan base for now and at same time hope and focus on putting a product that is work marketing.
  7. They didn't kill Harambe. #RIP #NeverForget
  8. Admittedly I never really had to purchase any guest club passes or anything like that because sadly it's always been tough enough to consistently getting someone to use my 2nd seat and come along.
  9. That could very well been the rule but I think if you contacted the ticket office directly I don't think it was hard for anyone purchase them if someone really wanted to because there's always been plenty of unsold seats. That policy change from 2014 you mentioned seems about right in what Reggie was also explaining to me some time back.
  10. Yep it was a head scratch for me as well because people were taking advantage of that and buying tickets to virtually every game and bypassing the donation/license etc. I think within the last year or two they've set a limit where you can do like just 1 or 2 games a season(so I heard at least). I even heard current club seat holders were taking advantage of that as well in trying to bypass the donation b/c they'd get extra club single game tickets for every game.
  11. You can buy single game tickets to the club area as well as far as I know. I know they've tried to change things around and make things a little bit more strict regarding the club seat tickets but you shouldn't have an issue purchasing tickets for a single game.
  12. Kinda hard for me to really watch, care and get into the Olympics after seeing the HBO Real Sports on the IOC and the level of ridiculousness the behind the scenes stuff goes.
  13. Could be wrong but guessing it was something along the lines of a heart attack probably.
  14. The one and only thing that has kept UNT from advancing to new/better conferences is UNT themselves so yes I do believe that and always have.
  15. FTR I've nothing against SMU and have several friends that graduated there. You have a lot more going against you than for you and that's just a reality. Who knows what MBB does after Brown leaving and what the sanctions does to the program. Football is still terrible tho I admit I think Chad Morris seemed to be a really good hire to get things back in the right direction. You guys are a very small private school so there will probably always be attendance issues unless you're winning at the rate TCU has been for the past decade plus. And the Big 12 already has the Dallas market because of the schools already affiliated including TCU. If another P5 is absolutely desperate in getting a Dallas presence and SMU is their only hope and option then MAYBE JUST MAYBE they'd be considered but I don't see that happening anytime in the near future. SMU does have great academics and well accomplished in other sports but those are sports that are non-revenue or sports that conferences care very little or nothing about. That being said I do give SMU credit for at least trying even tho I think there's zero chance at a Big 12 consideration. At stated above only way the dream of North Texas or SMU ever having a chance at for consideration in a P5 conference will be ones that have no Texas/DFW presence and they're dying to get it but it will take not only spending money on athletics but winning like crazy in football and that too for many many years like TCU and Houston have been consistently able to do.
  16. The Battle Over The Rangers' Ballpark Scam Has Officially Begun http://deadspin.com/the-battle-over-the-rangers-ballpark-scam-has-officiall-1784759415?utm_campaign=socialflow_deadspin_twitter&utm_source=deadspin_twitter&utm_medium=socialflow
  17. Bear in mind it's just an editorial. SMU offers a P5 conference zilch at this point. All they can say is they have the funds to do whatever they need and want to do and that they have a history being in the SWC. Other than that SMU offers nothing.
  18. When RV was here With Wren Baker But I also realize we're a fan base that has been kicked in the nuts far too many times to be hopeful
  19. No chance SMU gets into the Big 12 or any P5 unless they have a miraculous 5-10 year run that TCU began in the early 2000's. Maybe then, another P5 conference could look at them if they want a Dallas/TX presence but I don't see that ever happening.
  20. He's made enough money in life where he can live in a couple of places throughout the year if he so wishes.
