  1. You know that is not what I am implying. My comment: "Per you, there is too much talent in the area; frankly NT or any other school is limited in the number of recruits they can significantly invest in." Do you not agree that whether it is 5 or 500; there is a limit to how many players you can effectively recruit? If you can get a better return on your recruiting in Mongolia than the local area; than I would focus on Mongolia. It is obvious that NT or any other team should recruit in their area because it is easier, cheaper, and should bring in more fans than an equal player from elsewhere. Once they have on a NT uniform, I care about how they perform and it really does not matter where they came from.
  2. My guess is it was an obvious decision. Play football at an at least perceived much higher level with my guess a lot more compensation. NIL is going to ruin what's left of college football, there is simply no way a AAC or CUSA team is going to be able to keep their best players from teams with more financial support
  3. Maybe NT is not interested or did contact him and there was no interest from him. Per you, there is too much talent in the area; frankly NT or any other school is limited in the number of recruits they can significantly invest in.
  4. Not specific about this topic, but triggered by the interview. Is the stupid and self destructive collegian arms race ever going to have any limit? Look at the staff little ole NT has assembled for a basketball team. A coaching staff of 5 plus a support staff of 4 for women's basketball. There are 15 scholarships allowed for WBB. Reported and probably overstated average home attendance for 22-23 was 1476 Not a slap at NT or women's basketball, but the current absurdity of the money spent on college sports.
  5. I don't know why that is even a question, he obviously can play with the best in college basketball because he did it at NT.
  6. Well we just disagree. If a player was a consensus All America at NT and then transferred his senior year (which would almost certainly happen with NIL), then you would not put him in the NT HOF. That's the problem with NIL, A lower tier team is not going to hang on to a super player. I can't imagine a player deciding to stay at his current school to make the HOF and give up a bunch of money and a chance to play on a bigger stage.
  7. Jamario Thomas was all everything his freshman year, and that alone should put him in the NT HOF. He did not transfer, he played but was never the same after an early in career injury. This debate has come up on this board several times. Would if his best year was his senior season, there would absolutely be no discussion whether he belongs in the HOF.
  8. The NT hof should be based on their performance at NT. Sounds obvious, but NT has a few that made it based on their play at the pro level Of course, NT has very flexible standards. Putting Dickey and Slinker in the HOF proves that.
  9. Seems like almost every other conference has at least some television coverage. Have to work to even find the CUSA results.
  10. Pre tournament, Charlotte was 37 and NT 64 Looking at those schedules, I have no idea why Charlotte would by ranked 27 teams better, and for that matter why Charlotte would improve based on their CUSA tournament performance NT was 35-22 and Charlotte 32-21 pre tournament
  11. NT beat Charlotte 3 out of 4 games. Committee just based it on Charlotte winning regular season, they lost twice in tournament. They were 16-7 in conference to NT's 16-8. Just a very bad pick and I'm not saying NT should get it; but I question Charlotte getting an at large bid. I have stated that NT's lack of hitting was a major problem, but Charlotte should have never been picked over NT.
  12. I don't agree with a lot of points on each one, but I am for even more commentary on the Mean Green. However, all have pointed out and highlighted important issues with NT teams. Just my preference but in general I want more talk on the MG and a less on the commentator's personal lives. I know many enjoy the personal touch, but I prefer sticking to sports.
  13. This just was not close to the year many predicted for the MG softball team. Just wonder what got into Delong's head. He seemed to be determined with winning playing small ball, I guess he knows more than anybody that his team just can't hit. It looked to me that NT in the batter's box was playing for walks and bunts more than just hitting the damn ball. How does a team's batting average drop nearly .50 points with basically the same players. Some comparative stats. Batting average 2023-.242 22-.290 HRS 23-54 22-71 ERA 23-1.54 22-2.81 Games can be won with great pitching and solid defense, but there has to be a few runs scored. This team if everyone stays should be loaded next year with a senior laden team. Only big loss due to expiration of eligibility is Peters who was the best player on this year's team. However, the pitching staff still looks to be very strong. Hope this is just an almost unexplainable off year, and things return to NT softball normal next year. However, the competition is going to be much greater.
  14. Careful, what you wish for; I am sure Gamble, Simon and several of the pitchers will get plenty of contacts wanting them to move to another team.
  15. Hate the loss, but a team that can't hit any better than NT doesn't deserve to be in the NCAA tournament.
  16. This is a major fault in the system, if a call is challenged than the umpires who made the call decide if they were right.
  17. My guess he had several offers before he entered the portal. I believe it is really rare that a starter leaves for the portal unless he already has assurances that he is going to a higher ranked school and/or is going to receive more NIL money.
  18. Yeah, all those benchwarmers from the "big" schools are destined to be stars at NT. Fail to see that Kentucky getting the best college freshmen in the country and then losing them to the pros has anything at all to do with NT. I don't see how lower level conference teams developing players and than losing them to teams higher on the food chain, is a good thing for those teams or sports in general. Hopefully, this transfer stuff will be less a factor without the free year due to the covid virus.
  19. A true renaissance man.
  20. Appears to have size and juco success, but offer list is far from impressive. Have to trust in the NT recruiting staff on this one.
  21. I wonder about some of Delong's decisions, like starting Savage in an important game. Savage has all the potential in the world, but she is too wild to ever start in a championship game at this point in her career.
  22. Happy birthday, to one of NT's greatest fans. I look at other teams message boards and realize how lucky we are to have GMG.
  23. She is taking over the most visible part of supposedly one of the best music school around, the marching band. I fail to see how anyone is impressed with a former high school band director who won UIL competitions. I do think that obviously she has potential way above anything she has thus far accomplished. It still looks like a risky move to me. However, nothing surprises much with NT's band program, who apparently embraced the idea the bigger the better. They have been consistently outperformed by smaller more enthusiastic bands. This is not a knock on the band members, but a condemnation of the direction of the band. Bring back the focus on the drumline, learn more than 3 songs, play some music that football fans not music majors want to listen to.
  24. If that is an accurate quote, NT just hired the wrong head coach. Frankly, I highly doubt Hodge ever said that.
