Just read on official site about NT's good showing in a 4 team meet were the highlight for the Green was getting one second place finish. My question is why is NT willing to be so non-competitive in this sport. They actually had a competitive team till the former coach left and they gave the assistant coach, the current coach, the job. It seems that this women's sport is seldom successful and yet Roth is going on her seventh year as hc. Is there a problem with the swimming facility that limits NT's recruiting or other rationale for their overall at best mediocre performance?

Mean Green mid-season grades (2023-24)
GrandGreen replied to MeanGreenZen's topic in Mean Green Basketball
I am not defending Stone, other than just looking at the stats. As to his points coming against inferior competition, yes; but you have to be in the game to score. Now, he is seeing extended time and I think started one or two games. Not sure what the tries hard comment is about. He is on the team and I hope he and all the other players do well. -
Mean Green mid-season grades (2023-24)
GrandGreen replied to MeanGreenZen's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Some excellent points, but what is your grading system? Those grade to me are very high. An "A" player to me should be at all conference first or second team level. However, I do agree with your exceeding expectations list. Also, you are way off on Stone; Stone has the second best fg% on the team at 58.5& only behind Sissoko at 62.5%. He is also the third at 3 point percentage at 35% behind only Scott and Buggs. It anything, Stone is not shooting enough. He is also a better than average defender, or have you noticed he is usually matched up against much bigger players. I don't think Scott is having as good a year as many thought he could be. He is probably the best player on the team, but is not at the all star level many were predicting. Buggs has not underperformed, he is injured; a completely different factor. Sissoko has disappointed based on his play in the NIT last year, we all hoped we would see that player from now on; but it has not yet happened. I think some of that maybe because of the offensive game that Hodge wants to run. The old feed the post offense has just about disappeared. -
That's a positive outlook. I guess we should want loses so there is less chances of losing a coach to another school.

I guess if you have the horses, you never lose. Calling out one player in a game were the entire team looked completely gassed, is suspect IMO.

ok, good one

Do you really think there is a Missed Calls Review committee that changes game results? How did you come up with that idea?
-
No, this is not the situation most are complaining about. They would have no way of knowing his background unless they researched it like you did. The facts are that thousands of football players have been injured and did not get a do-over and had their collegian football careers substantially shortened. This guy deserves a lot of credit for his perseverance, but there should be limits on player's eligibility. This type of rationale opens the door to a lot of questionable maneuvering to abuse eligibility requirements.

AAC agrees foul should have been called
GrandGreen replied to cousin oliver's topic in Mean Green Basketball
The main thing is that it was a super play. Perfect pass and score. If you are a NT fan, enjoy it; leave the second guessing to ECU fans.- 36 replies

Coach Pete was a bad coach, his reference I am assuming was a joke.

AAC agrees foul should have been called
GrandGreen replied to cousin oliver's topic in Mean Green Basketball
First, no conference official is going to go on the record and state their referees were wrong on a basic in game call or no-call. Next, it is obvious that this ECU beat writer is just playing to his audience and getting a lot of attention. -
McCasland did wonderful things here, but at this point; I'm not sure if NT didn't keep the best coach in that staff.

Seeing the Morris signed re-ignited my interest
GrandGreen replied to meangreenfaninno's topic in Mean Green Football
No kidding, now address the main point; The facts are a player that commits is much more likely to sign than not. -
Seeing the Morris signed re-ignited my interest
GrandGreen replied to meangreenfaninno's topic in Mean Green Football
Sure a commitment means something, no coach would bother with them if it didn't. There are no guarantees even if they sign a letter of intent. The facts are a player that commits is much more likely to sign than not. -
Is winning the AAC becoming realistic?
GrandGreen replied to Tommy Gadberry's topic in Mean Green Basketball
NT has always had a realistic chance to win the conference this year. That is a lot different than being the favorite, but NT has proven they are one of the best in the league. -
QB commit - Chandler Morris - transfer from TCU

Everyone can change their mind, no penalty on transfers; but it doesn't have to be stated everytime a transfer commits. -
What is Mean Green Nation’s opinion on Coach O?
GrandGreen replied to GoGreenBeans's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Not sure what this has to do with the topic, the effectiveness of the coach. Your assumption or opinion is apparently he has not been effective. My question based on what, being the players have not even played. -

I think some of you are not recognizing the effect of NIL on recruiting. It is difficult to compare past eras to now. How much you pay trumps the personalities involved in recruiting. -
Who is we, and how should they act?

My go, 1. Memphis (13-2), Easy selection at this point 2. SMU (10-5), Toughest early schedule in league 3. NT (9-5), Best defence in conference, tough start with difficult schedule 4. FAU (11-4), Combination of upset wins and unexpected losses 5. UAB (10-5), Upset losses to McNeese, USM, Ark St. 6. South Florida (8-5), Lost to UAB, beat Florida St. 7. Tulane (10-4), High scoring fast paced 8. Charlotte (7-7), Big wins over George Mason and FAU 9. Tulsa (9-5), only lost to #1 Memphis by 3 10. Wichita State (8-7), Victim of very challenging OC schedule 11. East Carolina (8-7), Another team with very difficult OC slate 12. Temple (8-7), Staying over .500 should be goal 13. UTSA (7-8), Predict battle with Rice to stay out of cellar 14. Rice (5-9), Currently ranked last, but expect them to move up a few slots

Until NT starts selling out games and they have only been close a couple of times in the SPit history, I find complaining about how people watch the games is strange. You go to a game to enjoy the experience, if that is sitting and eating popcorn that is definitely your choice.

Your missing my point. Do you think complaining about attendance on a messageboard is going to have any positive effect? Are people going to read the message and immediately plan on going to the next home game?
