Ladies Sign a 4 star Tommisha Lampkin

I believe NT will do everything they can to have her finish here. Unfortunately, she is so good that NIL money maybe a big negative issue for NT. -
(3/6/2024) Texas FBS Power Poll: UNT #10
GrandGreen replied to Glory to the Green's topic in Mean Green Football
Great take after one year and a late start on first year recruiting. I think I will hold the coach damnation until I see one more season. By the way who was your choice for the job that NT had any chance of hiring? -
Nothing like calling a sponsor and the student crews' efforts pathetic.

The NCAA should be concentrating on the fairness of competition more and the individual players rights a lot less. From what I have read, even the perieniall powers' athletic staffs don't like NIL. Why should they, it is just a headache for all involved except the players and their agents. The NCAA should immediately ban future NIL agreements. Any player who receives NIL is considered a pro and no longer eligible for NCAA contests. Or would no longer be eligible for scholarship benefits and would have to pay for college tuition and fees plus room and board. Sure there will be lawsuits and with the current environment a strong chance that NIL would stay, but at least the NCAA will have taken a stand. This whole thing is based on the theory that college sports is a big business and the fallacy that most schools make a profit from sports. A theory that is easy to disprove.

Will we have anymore HOF players
GrandGreen replied to southsideguy's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Rubin is a very good player, but nowhere near the level to have a jersey in the rafters. IMO you would have to have multiple all conference first team honors or be a player with national accolades I don't remember who currently has that honor, I know it was only Mitchell and Reedes for a long time. Who should be there IMO, Mitchell, Joe Hamilton, Kenneth Lyons, and Tyler Perry -
Women's Basketball tonight vs Charlotte

This team is going backward. Bad shooting particularly at the line, out hustled and just plain bad basketball. Beaten by a team down two starters. -
Tennis Beats Houston & Collin College

Great point on the recruiting angle, but I still don't like the optics. -
Tennis Beats Houston & Collin College

Why is NT scheduling tennis games against community or juco colleges? Probably due to new coach not having time to get the kind of schedule she wants, but I think it is a bad look for NT. On this year's schedule, Collin County, Crowley County, and Tyler jr. College These jucos maybe great competition, but beating these teams is certainly not going to help the image of the program or recruiting. -
Good showing by the team, apparently great by Roth. Ackers doesn't get enough credit for his success.

It is amazing how many of us think we can make better basketball decisions than the coaching staff. This is obviously not a deep team and with two starters out, the results should be obvious. The game announcer stated this multiple times and they were proved right. NT runs out of steam at the end of games, but I highly doubt Hodges is such a bad coach that he has the answer setting on the bench.
-
Repeat in second try against Arizona, another 0-8 run ruled loss. Arizona is a great team, but NT should look a lot better with almost everyone returning.
-
About as bad as it gets, run ruled loss 0-8. Bad hitting, bad pitching, and a lot of errors. They looked completely outclassed. Tough start hopefully to a great season.

The Ivy League is a completely different situation from D1 athletics, so I fell to see any big issues coming from this. The players are like the rest of the student body on academic scholarships. I am not sure what they expect from collective bargaining, but I doubt it is going destroy anything for most college athletes.

Women’s Basketball Falls to UTSA in Overtime, 75-67
GrandGreen replied to cousin oliver's topic in Mean Green Basketball
I believe this is the absolute worse I have seen this team play. -
Based on limited viewing, I agree with the announcers that Davis is the best player in the conference.
-
Lot of bitching for a team that has performed way above expected.

Some of you make me wonder. He has two options (really he has many more). One, to honor his commitment and play for NT. Two, to go play for his dad. IMO, I don't think anyone can find fault with either decision.

QB commit - Chandler Morris - transfer from TCU

How did u come up with that number? I assume you read someone's post, but how likely is it to be accurate? -
Hire the best person you can. Would you want NT grads to get most of the coaches jobs also? Burton is doing fairly well replacing one of the greatest players in NT history as coach.
-
I perceive the others to be better team players, although Mitchell didn't have the coaching or team mates that recent NT players have. IMO the unquestionable best players for years was Ken Lyons and Joe Hamilton. I would now add Perry to that list.
-
I think that accolade is just about in the bag. Karen Aston's one year NT career would be the closest challenge.
-
The season's not over, but based on their play thus far; I think they are the best ever. The only team close would be the Reades and Mitchell teams. I wonder if Quincy Noble now regrets her decision to transfer to Ok St. She is currently averaging about 13 points and 3 rebounds for OSU (11-8, 4-4). She was a NT great, but she might be getting more playing time at OSU than she would on this NT team.
-
Mitchell was the most talented athlete by a substantially margin. However, I would pick every other choice ahead of him to be on my team. I am sure there are players that can duplicate the feat, but Mitchell is the only player I have ever seem dump a basketball with each hand in one jump to the basket.

Mean Green mid-season grades (2023-24)
GrandGreen replied to MeanGreenZen's topic in Mean Green Basketball
My guess is that he provides much more on defense than the other named choices. No way to prove, other than way else would Hodge use Stone in lieu of other options.
