  1. This loss is on who ever scheduled this game. NT would have beat this team easily closer to sea level. Montana St is 1-4 away
  2. Am I the only one who has a problem with using the terminology of flipping a player from a lower classification school? It happens to NT plenty, but I don't see it as a big accomplishment on the surface Most athletes are going to go for the team in the best conference that they get an offer from. Not referring to any particular player, but NT flipping a player that was going to the the Southland, WAC, SWAC. etc. is not usually a big achievement. What it really represents is that NT is taking backup players when they didn't get the players that they originally offered ships, which all schools do. Before I get a bunch of examples of great recruits that were not highly sought, I certainly realize that often happens. I also congratulate anyone that gets a scholarship, it is a major accomplishment.
  3. I will go with a b-, lots of new parts to mesh together. The only horrible game was against Fordham, rated 205 in K. Pom at present). The other loses again rated by Pom were to: #31 Mississippi St blowout 54-72; not sure MS could be beaten at that venue with that officiating # 61 St. Johns 52-53 #73 Boise St 64-69: Rarely ever loses in Boise #107 LSU 62-66 #205 Fordham 59-60 Being that NT only returned 2 starters and something like 25% of their scoring with a new coach, imo that is not that bad a start.
  4. That defense is obviously gone.
  5. It appears a lot more than a little to me. To be expected, but the refs took over the game at the end of the half.
  6. No it is not nonsense, I read good QB's are currently getting $1m in NIL benefits to transfer. I certainly think Rogers is in the good category. A big time program may give him that just to be a backup emergency QB.
  7. Any HC worth a damn is going to do what is best for the team. That is a tougher decision than just can the player make the current team better. You don't want to establish the impression that a player can test the market and always be welcomed back to the team. Unfortunately until the rules change, the lower a team is on the support scale (conference, success, wealth) the less likely it is to keep players or recruit coveted transfers.
  8. I just don't get why so many apparently like Gray. It is not a school color and doesn't look that good to me, at least black is a popular look.
  9. ACC beat Fordham by 14, this is maybe the worst lost in years.
  10. I watch pro games and your point makes no sense at all. Where did I said I won't support NT sports? I said I do not support NIL, that means I will contribute nothing to NIL. Notice you again neglected to answer the highlighted question because you have no logical answer.
  11. Notice you did not response to the highlighted portion. I also never said anything about supporting the NFL.
  12. Actually, the intent was to give the players a college education and a chance at a better future. Although, I am sure the requirement to go to class will also be attacked. My guess you are going to be very wrong, the number of college football programs at the highest level will shrink and there will be substantially fewer scholarship players. So there will be a lot less players, but the programs left will pay well. At least, you didn't cite that players should be getting their share of the money made. This is a common response even though 80% of the programs don't come close to making a profit. The main issue I have is that most G5 programs and many P5 schools are substantially supported by student fees. Do you really think the average student needs to be contributing to the education of players that are making more money than most of the fans? This won't continue at some point, the student will wise up and the major funding supporting athletics will be gone, and the number of schools left will be about the size of the NFL. Those conferences left will be in primarily in competition with the pros for fans. I don't get your leather helmet reference. It has nothing to do with coaches' salaries or paying players. Abuses of athletes and undercover payments were commonplace.
  13. The government started the problem when the Supreme Court made a completely insane decision I wonder if they even realized the effect of this decision on amateur sports? Did they believe that this would only lead athletes to picking up a few dollars signing autographs and making appearances at the local auto dealership? I doubt they saw this facilitating the open buying of players. The essence of sports is to maintain as fair as possible competition, This was obviously ignored in favor of individual rights. I believe this will be changed, but it will be after most of us old fans are long gone. NIL drifting down to the high school level and title 9 implications should be factors that demonstrate to everyone how foolish the current NIL rules are.
  14. Absolutely nothing Even if I had money to burn, I am not hypocritical enough to contribute to something I think is ruining sports
  15. Thanks, I had forgotten this part of the story.
  16. Whether there was any real interest by KSU of signing LIttrell is unknown. To be fair, Littrell was seen as an up and coming coach at the time. NT didn't want to lose Littrell and signed him to I am sure the biggest contract every offered by the Mean Green. My belief is primarily based on the idea that if Littrell was actually offered by KSU, he would have immediately taken the job. I can't believe that many hc's would turn down a Big Twelve job (at the time a top tier league) to remain in CUSA.
  17. Per his agent, I have never believed Littrell was really offered that position.
  18. Not necessarily, Rodman, Chamberlain, for example were great players; not sure they were great closers. Rodman was a great closer on the defensive end, but certainly not on the offensive end. Chamberlain seldom made free throws, so I am not sure anybody would call him a great closer. NT's D. J. Draper on the other hand was someone that most wanted shooting critical shots, but I don't think many would classify him a great player.
  19. I don't think the issue is not having a closer, it is not having a great player on the team. Perry is close to not being replacable, and there is no one on the team close to his skill level. Obviously, in the Boise game; NT went went into a coma at the end of the game. Nothing worked and I think it was a combination of NT players losing focus, bad coaching, very questionable refereeing, and an inspired Boise team. Having your best players foul out lost the game.
  20. Did you watch the game? One if not the best player on the court for NT in this game.
  21. **Note: Teams are measured against the overall strength of their conference This is not a list of teams by their overall quality.
  22. Not competitive against UTEP in anything is not a good look. I don't know how you label this year as anything but disappointing. Porter is now 33-31 at NT. but 20-13in the AAC Apparently recruiting McNeese's coach and players is not a recipe for much success in a tougher conference I think her recruiting will be a strong signal of her future at NT. However, this last year's team looked physically better than most of their opposition. They just didn't seem as well coached and make way too many errors.
  23. Then why is there a list of 2024 commitments on 247? I think they wait until the recruit announces it.
  24. Although I disagree with a lot of Side Show Joe's points, it was a well thought out analysis of the season. My grading of the last NT football season: QB, A- Agree that Rogers should be the league all-AC pick Tulane's QB will probably be the selection, because he had a substantially better supporting cast RB's, A- Can't remember NT ever having this deep of a rb rotation Adeyi obviously had the best year, but a healthy Adaway maybe his equal TE, C- Almost never used as receivers, Blocking was satisfactory The assumption has to be that they were not up to standard, as NT is recruiting a bunch of TE's WR's, A Maclin was a star and as such has already been hired away Sides was surprisingly good as a freshman Great depth with Burns, Ward, Cleveland, others OL B- Too many sacks given up, partially caused by QB decisions With most starters returning, just thought they underperformed relative to expectations Offence A- Borderline great performance Need to improve short yardage critical plays DL C- 3 man line was frequently overpowered Brown and Rickards are plus defense players LB D Definite problem position DB D Lots of game losing errors Played soft conservative defense Still gave up many long plays Defense D Overall defence rated somewhere between bad and awful The national rating was earned The defense did steadily improve particularly in the late conference games This switch to a 3-5-3 was a definite problem for the defense We can only hope this defense works with more familiarity and players recruited for it Coach Morris B- I was not a particular fan of this hire, wanted and expected someone other than another assistant coach without D1 hc experience Started off terribly but made steady improvement through the year Like the way he presents himself and the program Great offensive production Defense must substantially improve Recruiting must continue to improve
  25. Thanks, was not aware of this; I knew individual conferences had rules; but not a group of conferences. However, is it a rule if no one has to follow it?
