Two things are immediately obvious when you start to watch this game. 1) Vizza was good 2) Only the amnesia brought on by trauma made me forget just how bad Todd Dodge’s defenses were. Like, “kinda makes you appreciate a Caponi defense” level bad

Because the ever present lie of “we could be next” keeps G5 athletic directors, coaches, and fan bases docile. Keep the system just shy of outright exclusion of G5 programs and you can slowly strip away access while claiming that wasn’t the plan all along. It’s why the Power Ball lottery is so popular. Even though the chances of winning are exponentially small for everyone (the G5 programs), everyone will point to that one lady in a far off trailer park (Boise) who hit it big!

In fairness, Colorado made sure their whole team played…and then got steamrolled

Is it just me or is Eric Morris destined for great things?

I’d hate to see the ACC drop to 0-6 this bowl season

If ever you wanted to see just how fickle the generation of players we are currently watching is, here is the poster child... https://247sports.com/Player/chubba-purdy-46076928/TimelineEvents/

I gotta wonder, does this season spell wholesale changes in Norman? This is NOT the kind of season that fans (and donors) expect up there.

This doesn't make me sad at all, nor does it bring me any joy. I'm more like Thanos looking at the NCAA universe and knowing that the rebalancing of the scales is inevitable once enough of the "big boys" feel the pinch of the system they created.

I’ve been saying this for years. SometImes momma’s ability to say “my baby plays at (insert school)” trumps what is best for the kid’s long-term success.

Tell me you’ll peddle BS on SMU’s behalf without telling me you’ll peddle BS on SMU’s behalf. Here is SMU’s attendance claim for this season; one so amazing that they made a nifty graphic for it. The only issue? Well, they played 7 home games and the stadium seats 32k…so an average attendance of 32,651 which is standing room only and beyond capacity is a bit difficult to swallow and leads one to believe that only believers in SMU math would buy it. And save me the “but look at North Texas’ attendance” garbage. Even someone as committed to being separated from reality as you knows that if North Texas 1) bought their way into the ACC to allow us to fill our stadium with opposing fans, 2) overpaid for players, and 3) had the easiest conference schedule possible to stack wins…Apogee would have been LEGITIMATELY sold out. And let me save you the trouble of the next silly argument you were just itching to type as a retort…yes, we have far more alumni, but we are not situated DEAD CENTER in a city of 1.3 Million people like SMU has been for decades

Either Jimmerson is the guy…or he’s gone. I don’t see him sticking around to be the “special package” quarterback or being Podfenbarger’s relief. Sorry, just the world of college football now.

Our QB signee from North Crowley only has 3 passing TD’s and 1 rushing TD at the half against Austin Westlake in the state final.

Here’s the thing, I don’t think even you believe they would have lost the way SMU did. Penn State won by 28, but they could have made it more…SMU was NEVER in that game competitively…and they never should have been in it at all. They dodged the only two “decent” teams in a VERY weak ACC during the regular season and lost anytime they played a decent team.

Congressman Demands Texas Sent Back to BIG 12
emmitt01 replied to MCMLXXX's topic in Conference ReAlignment
Entirely misleading clickbait headline. The gist of what he said was “Send Texas back to the Big 12, they aint ready for SEC ball” -
But even that isn't a truly apples to apples comparison. Ajax can point back in their history (granted back before the current generation of fans that only remember life pre and post Ronaldo) and point to Champions League titles. North Texas has no such history to cling to, and yet we still don't want to abandon a system that has been shown, time and time again, to not truly include us.
-
The fence doesn't have a gate though, it has the illusion of a gate. And that illusion is kept around for two reasons: 1) Most importantly to the "elites", it keeps programs like North Texas (and their fans) believing that "if we just do this or that and get things to break right, we could actually compete for a championship." It's why you hear asinine things from G5 coaches like "our end of year goal, a national championship, is what we strive for." Every team in G5 is the nerd that is told that, if they play their cards right, they might get invited to the prom queen's post-prom party...because maybe, just maybe, she'll finally admit she's loved us all along. 🙄 2) If you pretend your system has a way for the little guys to compete for a championship, you hamstring the most glaring anti-trust arguments. "Your honor, we haven't built a monopoly in college football, just look at Boise that we let play in the first round of the playoff"
-
And take a look at Alabama, right after they were left out of the “playoff”. https://www.on3.com/college/alabama-crimson-tide/transfer-portal/wire/football/ Or aTm https://www.on3.com/college/texas-am-aggies/transfer-portal/wire/football/

Enjoy watching them this year. The system is designed to scavenge their roster and ensure they don’t threaten the “elites” for long.

As a prospect. Jase Bauer, Ankeny, Quarterback

He’s safe then

I already get free tickets to this game…so that makes me a maybe.

I would ask you how a team with no wins of significance was #8 to begin with. This was the pollsters and committee trying to pretend the ACC is relevant and being backed into a corner once they realized ranking them all year means you have to honor that.
-
Make it make sense. SMU is in the playoff because of their “body of work.” So, let’s examine that body of work. They have played two teams that are in the current Top 25…and lost to them both. In the final Top 25, they put SMU at #10. I can only assume it’s because of how valiantly they lost to two teams that are ranked below them, #16 (ACC Champ) and #17 BYU. Where is the body of work?
