  1. Look, I've done this about four times prior to football seasons and it's not that big of a deal. Again, if anyone would like to do it this week just say the word...let's take some initiative and not wait for some phantom spirit organization to do the heavy lifting.
  2. I would avoid Wal-Mart and major chain retail stores b/c they will tell you what they have told me many times in the past..."We aren't run locally and we'll have to ask our national office..." Which will turn into one of two things: A "no" answer or never hearing from them again. Also, banks that aren't Wells Fargo are generally not very receptive because the posters say Wells Fargo. Places to DEFINITELY hit. Rudy's, JT's dugout on the square, Beth Marie's, any and every bar you can find, all of fry street, up and down university drive and, though I've never tried it before, the high schools wouldn't be a bad idea. When do you plan to do this? I'll help if it's next week Tues, Weds or Thurs during the day.
  3. I was thinking about how the athletic department could raise some money and an idea struck me. How much would one of us pay for the ball that PC uses to break the school career rushing record? How much would the ball that Jamario carried to break the single game rushing record fetch? The cleats Kennedy wore in his last game? Scott Hall's jersey from his last game autographed? How about one of the game balls from the bowl win in 2002? I have one of the balls from the '01 game in Idaho that clinched the first bowl bid and I wouldn't part with it. They could call the memorabilia the "Mean Green Milestones Collection" and auction off things like this to raise some money for scholarships or whatever. I'm sure one-of-a-kind pieces like this would picque the interest of quite a few people.
  4. I had the opportunity to meet Meager last night (while buying a drink for PC and J Quinn...they are 21 right?). A few things struck me. First, he's not the behemoth that Byerly is. Second, he looks like a quarterback. Whatever a quarterback is supposed to look like, he looks like that. Also, Quinn introduced him as "the future of the Mean Green" so I guess he's already got one leg up when the go to receiver puts stock in him.
  5. He thinks he looks too much like Byerly.
  6. You're not missing much if you don't pay for it. A few interesting tidbits though: 1)Only 10 other teams in the history of college football have won 4 straight league titles. 2)Dickey is 37-46 at North Texas. If, if, we go 9-2 this season he'll be close to .500 at 46-48. 10-1 brings him to .500 as a coach.
  7. If the ULL game and our game are anywhere near this close then we'll go 10-1. But they won't be.
  8. Cert. of Authenticity?
  9. It's not Colt McCoy who will have UT fans singing his praises. It's Sherrod Harris that will be the stud.
  10. howerton with some good "d" so far
  11. You get more than an "in close parking pass". You get to help the program that you have supported all these years, and thank you for doing it, move up in the 1A food chain. $250 from just 3,000 season ticket holders would give us $750,000 of income to the athletic department. That does a lot of great things, such as: 1)Allows our players to attend summer school....which in turn allows them to practice together (voluntarily) and become a much better team. 2)Pays for scholarships so that we can attract a higher caliber player. 3)Helps to alleviate travel costs so that any money we make on away games goes straight into the AD's coffers and not to airlines or buslines. 4)Minor stadium improvements. 5)Gets us a big step closer to calling a new stadium home. So, while the tangible benefit that YOU personally see is a parking space, the athletic program sees exponentially greater benefit.
  12. That's unreal. It actually does a presentation and shows Jamario receiving the trophy. I love it.
  13. I'm in Los Angeles right now and I just heard from Kobe Bryant, who heard from a girl in Colorado, that Byerly would be eligible. Take that for what you will but if I'm right I'll be back to post it in every thread on this board.
  14. Anyone else have the problem of your corners just magically not being in quite the right position when the computer throws the ball? TJ Covington is getting burned on one-on-one plays where the just happens to bite on a late fake.
  15. They're supposed to have five wins this season, one of them being against the Mean Green. Yet, somehow they're picked to lose to Nevada and IDAHO ?
  16. Not as long as NT is SBC #1 and you can't guarantee that ULL or ULM would be #2. Short of one of those three teams being the SBC rep I don't see enough people travelling to make it viable. I think that either of the UL? schools would bring a good contingent if they were to become bowl eligible though.
  17. Without naming names, let's just say somebody who meets with his deep throat informants while picking the ponies, some of us need to stop taking ourselves so seriously. Yeah, this forum is about football news and I will be forever grateful to those who have reported that Joey Byerly is ineligible for the fifteenth time as if it were breaking news. Far be it from me to infuse a little humor into the board, ESPECIALLY when I did so originally without mentioning any names. That our own resident Woodward (or is it Bernstein?) took it as a personal afront tickles me even more than the secret Taco Bell meeting with coach Flanigan...though I'm told now that he's not inside enough. Ok, guys let's all get back to relevant NT football related news. Did anyone catch this week's practices? What's that? There were none? None? Surely there was a team workout session right? No? Well geez Louise, how am I supposed to post hard hitting relevant news when there is no real football to speak of? I'm sorry, what did you say? I should go to the pony track? Ok, but what if what I hear there is old news? Oh, it's ok it as long as it's semi-football related? Oh, ok.
  18. I think this about sums it up (from a Clemson fan):
  19. I again would like to know what being the "first" to know this information, combined with the inability to take yourself lightly, nets you. My presumption is "not much."
  20. I heard it from my next door neighbor who saw Ramon Flanigan at Taco Bell.
  21. My inside source says you're a jackass and can't recognize humor. Oh yeah, he also says that knowing Byerly is ineligible a month before the rest of us makes you his hero...wait, no it doesn't.
  22. According to NCAA 2006 SMU has a great passing game and their best receiver can consistently burn TJ Covington. I see them winning a lot of games this year because this accurate source says they have the potential.
  23. Precisely my point. ALL of these are made up characters.
