  1. Dennis Dodd has been accused of that numerous times before. Plagarism?
  2. "I think it ill befits this university to chop down its cathedrals in order to promote a student gym." Shows you what these people worship.
  3. This is great press for UNT - the lead story on CBS Sportsline's college football main page. Has UNT ever been the lead story for anymajor national sports publication/website?
  4. I hate to hear that for Zach. He played hard, and I would have loved to see him enjoying the rewards of playing in TD's receiver-friendly system.
  5. Well put. You don't hear too many cheeseheads clamoring for Lambeau Field to be enclosed.
  6. I remember that game. I had season tickets that year, and it was my last year living in the Metroplex. As far as my first UNT game, I don't remember who they played - it may have been one of our old SLC foes, but it was probably before conference play began. We were coming off a 73-14 shellacking at the hands of the #1 Cornhuskers, and it was a night game in 1993. We had a pretty good turnout that night, and the crickets turned out in big numbers - they were in everyone's hair, etc. But I was sold, and didn't miss a single home game (including Texas Stadium games) for several years.
  7. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Hut Allred here 6 years? It seems to me he red-shirted, and then obtained a medical redshirt one year. I don't know any other way somebody can have 6 years.
  8. This article has Scoggins listed at 265 - Trae Thompson's article in the FW S-T had him at 248. If the 265 is right, he is much closer to what he would need to play DL.
  9. I liked this quote: "Randy Rodgers, a former University of Texas coach who scouts high school players for more than 60 Division I-A colleges, rates Vizza as the state's No. 1 uncommitted quarterback." Of course, that says nothing about where he ranks among the committed quarterbacks, but Coach Dodge did not have much of a chance with them...this year.
  10. Thanks for posting that. He does look strong. I think he would probably be good at fighting off blockers - maybe bulk him up and put him at DT or DE. Maybe linebacker (?)
  11. Okay, but at what position? He's not big enough to be a tackle.
  12. Yes, kind of silly. But I guess I shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth.
  13. The link was posted on another thread: FW S-T
  14. While I am thrilled that a highly rated prospect would choose UNT over more recognizable programs, I am thoroughly perplexed as to why he would choose to come here instead of a Big 12 school (who also happens to have a new, highly-touted coach) where he could play the position where he proved he could play and wanted to play.
  15. Thanks for the insight - good stuff to hear.
  16. I didn't know he'd been moonlighting - he is a man of many talents.
  17. Isn't Sweetwater Grill right off the square?
  18. Unless I'm mistaken, every year he is receiving a football scholarship, he counts against our allotment.
  19. Give a salesman a product he can believe in, and then see what he can do.
  20. I would be shocked.
  21. The Mean Green blog mentions that Kenny Evans has been hired at Louisiana Tech. Mean Green Blog One quote that kind of worries me is "It wouldn't surprise me to see Evans assigned to recruit the Dallas-Fort Worth area and Texas junior colleges for Tech." I trust Coach Dodge's judgment above my own as to who would best help UNT win, but Coach Evans was one that may have been wise to retain.
  22. Our per game average in '99 was 17,448. NCAA Stats
  23. Is there supposed to be a photo at this link? I've slept since last time I watched Necessary Roughness, but it seems I remember something about (our) Dennis Parker being in it - maybe he played an opposing coach?
  24. I always thought a lot of Coach Parker as a man, even though his years at UNT were not the best. Wish him well.
  25. I seem to recall that during our first couple years of Sun Belt dominance we were picked to finish at or near the bottom. I think there's something to be said for the advantage of surprise.
