The man completed 60% of his passes last year, has the best running ability, and played well against the tough OOC opponents last year. He was 5 of 6 with a TD in our season opener against UT last year (229.33 QB Rating). UT--as in Big 12 powerhouse, kind of like OU. So, yes, he is the best shot.

Have to disagree with you there. Even if Vizza looks like he is emerging as the starter, I don't think you throw him to the wolves like that. I think Woody gives us our best shot, not necessarily through the season, but against OU.

Good point. I think a conference change would build up the program more immediately than a stadium change, but about all we can do about a conference change is sit by the phone and wait.

There seems to be a great concern that we redshirt several of these players so we can milk as long a stay out of them as possible. Personally, I have no doubt that each of Todd Dodge's recruiting classes the next four years will blow the doors off of this class. Not putting down these recruits or Coach Dodge's work, especially under such conditions and time constraints. But I imagine the recruits that TD will have in place four years from now will not have us sulking because he didn't redshirt more of this class.

Interesting. Now that there actually is a Texas State, this jersey would probably be misunderstood by most people. Also, a little cost prohibitive, in my opinion.

I'm curious to see what pricetag the Bear Bryant playbook ends up bringing.

I don't think Nathan Dick was a lock to go there until Mustain left, and it is extremely doubtful that he would have put significant pressure on Mustain for the starting job. Mustain was a freshman, and still had some developing (and growing up!) to do. Assuming he straightened out his attitude, he probably would have been the starter next year, and certainly by his junior year. Whether Mustain can compete with Sanchez for the starting job in '08 and '09 remains to be seen.

That's one thing you have to give Simon--he probably overlooked the conference games, but he saw playing a major opponent as a major opportunity.

Makes you wonder if anything, including winning, can ever change people's perception of North Texas football.

I guess I missed the interview. I did hear the quote from Mack Brown that Todd Dodge and UNT were a "perfect fit"--perhaps he's implying TD should stay at UNT instead of taking away his job in a few years. Any highlights from the interview?
