  1. For the reasons you mentioned, I would expect more. Signing three a year would have to be the bare minimum, as it would leave the team with only twelve receivers on its roster at a given time, assuming all make it all four years. Not that many when eight per game are seeing playing time.
  2. I was wondering what that was. Judging by what I have read, if this guy shows up with a great attitude and work ethic, there is no telling where this team might take him. He might own every NT receiving record in the books. And if that is the case, there is no telling where he might take this team. That smell might be getting a whole lot more powerful in the next 3-4 years.
  3. Memphis/Alabama barbecue uses a far runnier sauce than does true barbecue (Texas BBQ). And it's vinegary, instead of the thick, sweet, mouthwatering nectar that anyone blessed enough to spend a lot of time in Texas has come to love. As for cooking it on the grill until it's seared--well, slow cooking over hickory/mesquite or similar smoke is the only way to do barbecue. If it ain't smoked, it ain't barbecue.
  4. Which still leaves us with a national championship being settled off the playing field.
  5. I think Quoner is rubbing off on some of you a little much. (Now don't run with that, too!)
  6. Seemed like a decent enough fella until he jumped on the wrong side of the beef fence.
  7. Kind of funny how this thread got derailed from the get-go with one remark about UNT having the opposing team's helmet colors rubbed off on their helmets.
  8. In my opinion, Denton has some of the best grub in the world. Make sure you eat some Mexican and Texas barbecue. For a little hole-in-the-wall, Mazatlan (on University Drive just east of the TWU golf course) has some good cheap Mexican food. I have spent very limited time in Denton in the past 7+ years, so other than that, I'm a little out of touch on what the best places are now. If State Club is still open (on Fry St. adjacent to campus), their chicken tenders are worth a stop.
  9. Joe Greene and Booger. I don't think there can be a whole lot of disagreement on this one.
  10. Thanks again--couldn't have picked anybody better than Mitch. I still think he got robbed in the Heisman voting that year.
  11. My parents went to Penn State, and I was raised and remain a fan. I know it's not popular on this board, but I also pull for the 'Horns. I love watching just about any college football I can find, and have a whole lot more teams I like to root against (e.g., Miami, OU). But I definitely bleed green.
  12. They have to add something into that formula about having to play for Tommy Tuberville.
  13. I assume this is what you mean. http://www.lids.com/pid/20090036
  14. The competition in the Sun Belt is not terribly stout, but much moreso than when we had four years of completely having our way with the Sun Belt. There was nothing comparable to Troy as it now is. If there were, I am not sure that we would have had a single conference title.
  15. I believe Benny Cherry's freshman year was '94.
  16. I agree with what has been said, but to throw another into the mix--Brett Renfro.
  17. Agreed - it would be awfully lame to hear over the loudspeaker, "Good for another Mean Green . . ." and everybody just keeping quiet, mumbling "no habla Ingles" under their breath.
  18. Why would you exchange a pawn for a bishop? A queen can make every move that a bishop can, plus vertical and horizontal. But since I am presuming that this is after the fact, I think you're stuck with two bishops on the same color. Life can be a bitter pill to swallow at times.
  19. By the way, I most definitely added it to my favorites as well.
  20. "Blind allegiance"? To whom? Not a huge O'Reilly fan either, but I like him a whole lot better than Olbermann. There is only so much time I will spend on the Internet each day, so I rarely watch ANY video on the Internet. So why would I watch this anti-American moron? I have heard enough of Keith Olbermann to know that he largely provides misinformation and worthless whiny liberal rants.
  21. Looks great. One suggestion you might consider is to provide a link to bios of the coaches.
  22. I didn't bother watching it when I saw who it was--Olbermann seriously needs to get a clue.
  23. If that poll is computer generated, all the more reason to doubt. A computer will look to past performance, rather than considering the impact of a new system, and above all, a winning attitude. While we may not tear up the Sun Belt this year, there is no way we go 1-6 in conference. Mark it down.
