  1. What is ignorant is to think that the Islamist views are worthy of defense. "Slay the infidels wherever ye find them" (Surah 9:5). While there are some professing Islam who reject their book (just as most who profess Christianity reject the Book), there are a whole bunch of folks out there who want to see you dead because you live in a country that does not impose Sharia law upon its people.
  2. It's an old coaches' ploy--talk up the other team during the time leading up to the game, and then sock it to 'em on gameday!
  3. Very interesting quote. Now college coaches are apparently not just recruiting Texas because it is the richest hotbed of football talent, but because of its superior students?
  4. It's been years since I've been able to go to a home game, but from '93-'99, I don't think I missed more than 2 home games. That, plus away games and 1 NO Bowl, I imagine somewhere around 45 games.
  5. It certainly is not out of the realm of possibility for UNT to win the Belt, but Troy has got to be the hands-down favorite.
  6. Umm, Illinois has dropped all Indian references. They have kept the name "Illini" because there was never really any such tribe. Florida State and N. Dakota have been successful because they have the backing of their respective namesakes.
  7. It is ridiculous. What about the Irish contingent? The agricultural contingent? Are they going to get up in arms because schools use them for a mascot? Seriously, the Irish would have a far greater case against Notre Dame than Indians against the University of Illinois, et al.
  8. Not sure, but I'm assuming that grammar is tongue-in-cheek (?)
  9. Great story, and one I hope gets retold again 10,000 times of SLC fans coming out to support UNT this fall!
  10. '83-'93. But I would rather have the worst one of the bunch and keep it forever than change every two years.
  11. I'm in . . . $100.
  12. So do you think Riley's plan was to give a verbal to UT so he could get inside and put a bug in the other recruits' ears . . . planning to switch to NT on February 6, and start a mass migration of UT commits to Dodge? All a part of the plan.
  13. I would love to see it, but I just don't see it.
  14. THis guy looks good. That third clip is pretty impressive--one of those "whoa" moments. Thanks, Harry.
  15. I think I know what you mean, but Brett knows the UNT program and the Sun Belt better than the DCTF staff. He mentions good reasons why a 7-5 record is perhaps overly optimistic. Obviously, it's not impossible; but I think if we go 5-7 this year, that would put us right about on target for success once TD's recruits are firmly in place.
  16. Because this is the consensus on Culpepper: Link to ESPN column And I think people generally have a whole lot less confidence in Harrington than they do in Culpepper. Green has had some degree of success everywhere he's been, and has been fairly consistent. As Flyer mentioned, Beck is the Dolphins' QB of the future--at least they hope. But why not, amid all those question marks, have something somewhat closer to a sure thing? A fifth round pick is nowhere near a sure thing--probably won't be in the NFL in three years. Green can start right away, win some games, serve as a mentor to Beck, etc. Sounds to me like a pretty good fit for the Dolphins.
  17. Pass it on.
  18. I would be very pleasantly surprised if TD were to be able to produce a 7-5 team his first year. That would be a major success.
  19. I always thought college football was meant to be played on Saturday afternoons. I don't see the heat in November being a major problem.
  20. Gotcha--guess it went over my head. I obviously did not get a 1910 on my SAT either.
  21. I know we have had too many stadium threads as it is, and it is strange that this thread should ultimately lead to stadium talk, but . . . I wonder how often the stars will align just right to get the go-ahead from all involved to do stadium construction. How many years has it been known that something needs to be done about the situation with Fouts, and nothing has? If we were to be able to get approval to build a 40+k seat stadium, but chose instead to build a 31k stadium, would we be certain to get the approval for expanding when the time came? The question that would come up time and again would be, "Did not anyone foresee this happening when we built the stadium the first time?" Obviously a full stadium is a better experience for all involved, whether fans or players, but if we truly think the time will come when we need a larger stadium, why not build it right the first time?
  22. I seem to recall 1600 as being a perfect score on the SAT. What's a perfect score now?
  23. Probably will not be a game that UCF fans will want to remember as the first game in their new stadium. The 'Horns will crush them.
