Preseason Usa Today Coach's Poll
Mean Green 93-98 replied to UNTflyer's topic in Mean Green Football
Yeah, I guess they kind of slipped under the radar during the Bob Davie and Ty Willingham era. Other than 2005, they tend to be way overrated at the beginning of the year. -
Preseason Usa Today Coach's Poll

Just out of curiosity, does anybody know the last time Notre Dame began the season not ranked in the top 25? -

Both TCU and UTEP's athletic departments are giving the same song and dance. Sounds like that firm they are using might be a little on the shady side. -
Here is the predicted finish: 1. Troy: It all starts and ends with Haugabook, who is one of the conference's most exciting players. Cornerback Leodis McKelvin leads a solid defense. The Trojans will take their lumps early, but will be the favorites to return to their third bowl game in the past four years. 2. Louisiana-Lafayette: The Ragin' Cajuns have one of the best running backs in the conference back in Tyrell Fenroy. The junior racked up 1,197 yards and 10 touchdowns, while ranking 38th in the nation in yards per game (114.1). Michael Desormeaux takes over at quarterback as Jerry Babb has graduated. 3. Florida Atlantic: A star-studded defense will keep the Owls in a lot of games in conference. They'll need to step up on offense and will look to redshirt sophomore Rusty Smith at quarterback and running back Charles Pierre. 4. Arkansas State: The Indians will need strong play from QB Corey Leonard if they are going to challenge for the league title. Sophomore RB Reggie Arnold is already a stud, becoming the 13th player in school history to top 1,000 rushing yards. 5. Louisiana-Monroe: With 10 starters back on offense, the Warhawks are the definite sleeper of the Sun Belt. RB Calvin Dawson and WR LaGregory Sapp are very good, along with an offensive line that returns five starters. 6. Middle Tennessee: Things are going to look a lot different as the Blue Raiders must replace QB Clint Marks and RB Eugene Gross. Safety Damon Nickson, one of the best returners in the nation, is one of six starters back on defense. 7. North Texas: After bursting onto the scene in 2004 as a freshman, Jamarrio Thomas' production has seen a major dropoff. The senior will be looking for redemption as the Mean Green has an inexperienced offense. 8. Florida International: The Golden Panthers will be looking for new QB Paul McCall and a solid offensive line to improve the worst offensive team in the nation (9.6 ppg). Lionell Singleton is one of the top defenders in the conference. Click here for the rest

I don't know if anybody is trying to make excuses for Dodge or the football team. What we as North Texas fans are conditioned to do is to prepare ourselves for a letdown, so we might maintain (or reclaim, as the case often is) a semblance of sanity. We're going to have to achieve and maintain that higher level of success you mention before we can overcome those years of conditioning.

Just For Discussion - A Cusa Lineup I'd Like To See
Mean Green 93-98 replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
Well, I would presume the divisions would be either North/South or East/West. North/South doesn't make too much sense since the schools are more widely distributed from east to west. Thus you would have East UAB Memphis Southern Miss Tulane La. Tech Tulsa West UNT SMU Rice Houston UTEP NMSU I believe Tulsa may technically be slightly west of Houston, but to put Tulsa in the west division would require splitting the two Houston schools. -

Not a bad lineup as far as the conference goes, but the geography of your two divisions has me a little befuddled. -
Great feet. I wonder what rating Rivals would give him if he were 6'3"?

Rick V., I appreciate the good post. From what I know and have heard, you are definitely an asset to our fair University.

Greg, just out of curiosity, what makes you believe that the white jersey would be the home jersey? I would have figured the other way around.

Mean Green 93-98 replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
From what I have seen, I personally would start Woody, at least at the beginning of the year. I have a feeling, regardless of who is our QB at OU, Vizza will take the first snap at FIU. -

Another Shot At Nt Law School Funding?
Mean Green 93-98 replied to adman's topic in Mean Green Football
Anyone who truly believes his religion would like to see as many converted as possible. While Christ told and exemplified to His followers to do this by means of preaching, Mohammed advocated and exemplified the use of violence for this purpose and for the general advancement of their own people. This was not only for two centuries, but from Islam's inception in the 7th century, when Mohammed robbed and killed innocent travelers, and invaded Mecca in 630. See Flyer's picture for an answer worth 1000 words. So refuge is offered to someone willing to submit to Islam? I think we all acknowledge that. This is not true. A Jewish community was carved into what had become mostly an Arabic region. But over half of those Arabs professed Christianity at the time. Some estimates are far greater (cbn.com). And Israel certainly mistreated those professing Christianity. But what interest should Iran have in any of that? They are not Arabic, but find the state of Israel as convenient fuel for the fire. I have my problems with Israel, but their responses are provoked. No, the conflicts we are in are the result of an idealogy that demands global denomination and death to dissenters. Our lack of success in our conflicts and wars can certainly be traced to ignorance. And we continue to have people in high places believing that this problem can be solved with dialogue. I desire peace as much as anyone, but the Muslims do not desire peace if their goals are not met. Then I hope you will understand that Muslims (or at least what some call "Islamicists") are not motivated by mere recent developments. They follow their beliefs, and those beliefs demand violence. -

Another Shot At Nt Law School Funding?

"Slay the infidels wherever ye find them" (Surah 9:5). Of course, Muslims defend this passage by saying they only apply it to other Muslims who have apostatized, or to conquered peoples who refuse to pay tribute. Thus, the famous cry of the followers of Mohammed, "Islam, tribute, or the sword." -

Western occupation?!? Of what? Their goal is to establish a strong, unified Muslim state that occupies the entirety of the globe (i.e., worldwide dominion and subjugation), including that comfy little chair you're sitting on right now. Do you call those reasonable goals? -

If you go to the main page at Lids.com, they are featuring this style hat. But all of the other teams incorporate one of their own colors where our hat has all that grey. Does Lids not know that we have official colors?
