  1. Tough call, but I would probably go with Patrick Cobbs.
  2. Don't think so. The 1 "team" rush attributed to UNT is -23 yards, but the next stat shows they had a total of 12 rushing yards. The 1 "team" rush attributed to SMU is -1 yard, but they had a total of 181 rushing yards.
  3. Got me there. SMU had one too.
  4. Sacks count against rushing yards in college football, so total rushing yards is not completely attributable to the running game.
  5. Great idea, Hatter. Wish I could be there.
  6. I assume you mean man coverage? Running some zone schemes would be a great idea.
  7. NT - 50 FAU - 10 The defense is angry.
  8. I don't know if that is better attributed to SMU's weakness against the pass or to our own weakness running the ball.
  9. Safety Gatewood becomes latest Texas player arrested Sep. 13, 2007 CBSSports.com wire reports AUSTIN -- Texas senior safety Tyrell Gatewood was released from jail Thursday after his arrest on drug charges, the fifth arrest of a Longhorns player since June. Freshman defensive back Ben Wells, 18, who was riding with Gatewood when he was pulled over late Wednesday, was given a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia and released. Gatewood, 22, was charged with two counts of possession of a dangerous drug. It was his second drug-related arrest in a year, although misdemeanor possession charges were dropped after his arrest last September. He was suspended for a game. Texas athletic officials planned to release a statement later Thursday. Gatewood and Wells were pulled over by a Travis County sheriff's deputy for failing to signal a turn. Smelling marijuana, the deputy searched the vehicle and found pot, Xanax and a baby bottle full of codeine cough syrup, said Travis County sheriff's spokesman Roger Wade. Bond was set for Gatewood at $2,500 for each count, but he was released on personal recognizance. Gatewood also was being held on an arrest warrant from Dallas County on a reckless driving charge from March. Bond for that charge was set at $500. Linebacker Sergio Kindle and defensive end Henry Melton, both arrested on drunken driving charges during the summer, are serving three-game suspensions that will end after Saturday's game at Central Florida. Freshman linebacker Dre Jones was suspended indefinitely last month after being charged with aggravated robbery. Former safety Robert Joseph was charged in the same incident. Joseph had already left the team after being arrested in a separate incident earlier in the summer. Link to story
  10. 400 might be an awfully generous count if that photo is any indication. Hard to believe it was not that long ago they were World Series champs.
  11. The best I ever saw don the green was Mitch Maher.
  12. Agreed. And, SLCO, just because you're not an alum, this does not mean you're an "outsider." Welcome to the board, and welcome to Mean Green fandom. Go Mean Green!
  13. Yes, Riley was recruited to UT as an athlete, not a QB. But he has specifically said that he has come to UNT to play QB. And while I believe Vizza will be ahead of him on the depth chart next year, I would be surprised if Riley is not our starter by his junior year.
  14. After the spring game, when the offense pretty well lit up the defense, everyone was saying it was because the defense didn't want to show anything. It made sense at the time, but now I have to wonder if the defense ever had anything to show.
  15. I think that's right on, RG. It seems to me that we're going to need something to complement our passing game to win the Belt, and preferably that would include a much better defense.
  16. Is this a true statement?
  17. I don't know, when I was in the music program we bought our own tuxedos. It doesn't seem that buying a pair of khaki shorts would be that big a setback, relatively speaking.
  18. I think those comments are ridiculous. Bush had some weak games last year, and he was playing against a defense that was on fire. And that obviously had made it their mission to stop Bush/crush Bush's head every time he got the ball.
  19. I don't know, I think it would make our drubbing look a whole lot worse if Miami were to blow out OU. If OU blows out Miami, at least we can find a measure of solace in the fact that we were whupped by an outstanding team.
  20. That's something we'll need to clamp down on.
  21. Exactly. We hate SMU because we want to.
  22. I learned to do it Rick's way, but there were inconsistencies back then. Some would put their thumb and pinky together, some would keep the thumb out with the pinky tucked in. When I first saw it being done with the first two fingers and the thumb, I wondered where in the world that came from. I thought maybe everybody had been doing it wrong for the previous several years.
  23. Well, we're getting mention all over the place. Talking about various coaches' embarassing moments, Dennis Dodd writes That's a pretty goofy statement if you ask me.Link to story
  24. It is definitely a joke--not a bad one at that.
  25. Wow! He's probably right, but that's pretty bold for T-Mac.
