  1. I saw this the other day, and noted how far Todd Dodge had slid from his untouchable spot last year. Last year's Hot Seat thread
  2. Now that's how you do a silent phase!
  3. I agree with Tech. WV, however, had the #7 total defense last year. Not too shabby.
  4. It still gives me the same message. Maybe you can just tell me how you got there. I tried doing a search at the B,B, and Beyond website and couldn't come up with anything.
  5. And in an interesting and ironic twist . . . a stadium thread is highjacked into an academic thread!
  6. She sure isn't trying to downplay expectations, is she?
  7. I don't know what everybody's problem with dfn06 is--he simply stated what the law said, and apparently, he is correct.
  8. I am very excited about Jenkins. There's no question he provides some much needed beef up front. (Just leave it alone, Quoner) What about Hollivay? Weren't there some questions about his academics as well?
  9. Sounds like y'all got to see a great game. How was the Mean Green attendance?
  10. Isn't this awfully early to be going after Juco players? Unless they are absolutely outstanding (and maybe these guys are), usually you go after the Jucos to fill in the holes you notice through the course of the regular season and after getting an idea of how the high school recruiting will turn out.
  11. I'm sure there was some red tape to go through, but considering the 50-something that went back to play at Sul Ross last year, it can definitely be done.
  12. Doing what's right can be costly. I also hope he gets a shot.
  13. It sounds like they are definitely trying to send a message. It just seems that there is no real standard as to who "underperforms." NCAA academic report: Underperforming teams to be hit harder
  14. To be honest, TFLF, I'm having a little trouble following your point. I thought your point was initially that the fact we hired a high-school coach is keeping us from bringing the big boys to Fouts. But in these different schools you cite, there is usually no mention of how their head coach was involved in bringing teams to play them. And I really don't see that much of a drop off (if any) in the quality of opponents being brought to Fouts since Todd Dodge replaced the "college-connected" Darrell Dickey.1 If your point is that these other schools bring in much better teams to play there, many of your examples are true. But why mention Temple? They have longstanding rivalries with Penn State and Maryland. Several of the schools you cite (though certainly not all) have programs at least as respectable as ours, and yet are bringing in opponents no better than we are. Again, I'm just not sure what your point is--I would appreciate it if you could state it more clearly so I can follow you. 1 I might add that Todd Dodge is fairly well-respected in the coaching community. He holds clinics throughout the nation. Mack Brown called him "the best quarterback coach in the state." Bill Parcells said, "What Todd Dodge is, he's a football guy. He understands the game and the culture that surrounds it." He may not be as well connected as a Hayden Fry/Joe Paterno, but I fail to see the drop off in that regard from Dickey to Dodge.
  15. So how much does the connection between these two coaches, or any other two coaches have to do with their playing each other? I'm not saying it's not a factor, but last time I checked, ADs set up the schedule, not head coaches. Not to highjack the thread, but Texas wouldn't come to Fouts to play if we hired Joe Paterno as head coach. UCF's new stadium had more to do with that game than any friendship between coaches.
  16. 5 wins. Anything less will be a disappointment, anything more will be a thrill.
  17. This article details the dungeon more specifically: Link to article This part blows my mind:
  18. I'd be there in a heartbeat if I were within a 2-3 hour radius. I've been to several major league ballparks, but none of the ones I've been to quite match what THE Ballpark has. Love the Ballpark, love the Rangers (even when they're losing), love the Mean Green!
  19. Yes, put me in the Big XII camp as well. Then it's settled.
  20. Troy was 8-4 last year (6-1 SBC), and still sat at home. It could happen again.
  21. That's a lot of cabbage for UNT to be paying a women's basketball coach! I hope we are gradually able to increase coaches' salaries across the board to bring us at least somewhere in the ballpark with the "big boys."
