  1. I doubt it. Even if he thought we were worthy, I think he'd rather fly under the radar.
  2. That is absolutely disgusting. No court in this country will hand out the sentence that these scum deserve. And I don't think anyone could argue successfully against Ms. Malkin's comments. There certainly would be public outrage about this story if the press would cover it.
  3. If we can win at least one of the first four games going into conference play, we'll have decent momentum. It's tough to get much momentum in the offseason.
  4. Thanks for the responses, Adler and untphd.
  5. Add Nate Jenkins to the 2-deep. His 330 lbs will bring that average up.
  6. He may still be a student at North Texas. He walked on to play for us, and may have left football behind. I don't know whether that's the case, but I doubt he had scholarship offers coming out his ears.
  7. Pardon my ignorance, but what was that?
  8. That is shameful. It reminds me of these dopeheads who claim to be straightening out, so I help them to get a job--the next thing you know, they're "hurt" and seeking compensation.
  9. I don't see how the UNT AD can have anything to do with his failure to obtain his Associate's. They usually do not make it their business to guide students to meeting their degree plans at other institutions. Now, the JUCO where he was attending, that's a possibility.
  10. Well, if there is truly no hope for a new stadium within the next decade, why don't we quit worrying about it, why don't we quit posting about it, and just settle for Fouts?
  11. As a lifelong Blackhawks fan, I think this is great news. I watched the game last year (in Buffalo, I think) and thought it just looked awesome. I'm sure the cost to put on a production like this is fairly exhorbitant, but I would love to see every team play an outdoor game every year.
  12. Well, I don't imagine it hurts, but I have known guys with nothing but rocks in their heads who could play some amazing ball.
  13. I haven't been to Midlothian in probably 12 years or so. It must really have boomed since then, is all I can say.
  14. I think the writer must have had "Necessary Roughness" in mind.
  15. I imagine I'd feel pretty confident if I were they going into this game as well. We only have one known quantity on the DL. Our secondary was atrocious last year. We finished second to last in the Sun Belt, whereas they won the C-USA West. That said, all the unknowns that we have going into the season now have the opportunity to surprise everyone and make their presence known.
  16. If I am not mistaken, Mr. Goldfield offered to underwrite an entire UNT baseball team himself, but RV turned him down until they get a new football stadium.
  17. Florida governor Charlie Crist now favors expanding offshore drilling. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/19/us/19off...&ei=5087%0A As for Arnold, he has an extremely liberal constituency that he apparently feels obligated to appease. Regardless of his motivation, I hardly think you can call his stance representative of Republican views.
  18. Thanks for the informative post, OT. That new hire explains several of the things we've been hearing recently. I know it doesn't prove that we're any closer in our fund raising, but I think it does show that people are definitely wanting to move this thing forward.
  19. You thinking we might go to a 0-0-11 defense?
  20. Wow! Gutsy move on UNM's part. I wonder what the buyout would be for A&M to get out of that game.
  21. I agree that the UTEP game is very winnable for LaLa. I just don't see the home field advantage as being that big of an advantage with the crowds (?) they bring in. I had to give the slightest of edges to UTEP. But LaLa may feel free to prove me wrong, and beat the feces out of UTEP.
  22. My picks: Florida Atlantic hosting UAB September 6th - Winner = Florida Atlantic UL-Monroe at Tulane September 20th - Winner = UL-Monroe UL-Lafayette @ USM August 30th - Winner = USM UL-Lafayette hosting UTEP - Winner = UTEP Arkansas State hosting USM - Winner = USM Arkansas State @ Memphis - Winner = Memphis - ASU is losing too much to pull off what they did last year North Texas hosting Tulsa - Winner = Tulsa - Prove me wrong. Please. North Texas at Rice - Winner = North Texas in a squeaker New Orleans bowl - Hard to pick without knowing who will play whom, but I'll go ahead and say the Belt wins it. I guess that makes it 5-4 in favor of C-USA, but you have to give extra points to whomever wins the Bowl.
  23. Good catch!
  24. I'm not sure if I want to set foot in this minefield, but that's not exactly how it happened. Long before Spring ball ever started, Dodge stated that his general philosophy was to name one QB the starting QB (as opposed to the 2+ QB rotations we have implemented in the past), with the intention of him starting the whole year. When Meager was named the starter, some on this board, or maybe Vito, may have reiterated Dodge's philosophy. But the fact is, by mid-season starting Vizza became what was best for the program, and so Dodge had to do it.
