  1. Boca is south of the projected hurricane's path, and it's supposed to pass through on Wednesday. But there could still be some issues with flooding, and some evacuees could head south, filling up area hotels and roads. I don't see the game being canceled because of it, but who knows.
  2. I never understood why they didn't make sure to keep "East Texas" in the name. I knew some people who went there through the time of the name change and they still called it "East Texas State."
  3. If UAB hadn't lucked into Bill Clark when they did, UAB football would no longer exist.
  4. With the amount of money recently being thrown at Sac State, they are clearly thinking better than the new MWC. If they don't get a PAC invite, I wouldn't surprised if a lot of their projected athletics donations dry up.
  5. They beat a solid Texas State team. Again, the point being made is that they have the lowest revenue in their conference, and, speculatively, "the least amount of NIL money in the country," and yet they are still winning. They have to go against every one of their opponents with a financial disadvantage.
  6. I can't comment on the present student temperature toward Tulsa. But in times past, we've brought great crowds to games at Tulsa. Who else remembers the "North . . . Texas" chant taking over the stadium in 2013?
  7. There's been a post or two pointing out how Coach Morris has blown off the radio show and its guests. His contract requires him to be at his radio show each week, but he's had one no-show and the other times he's shown up late and left as soon as his portion of the program was done. Previous coaches have been there the entire portion of the show, even arriving early and leaving a little late to take the opportunity to mingle with fans. I am not speaking from firsthand experience. Someone previously posted about this; and with the new not-nearly-as-good search functions, I couldn't find the post. Coach Morris may be doing well at other occasions, but he seems to be missing weekly opportunities at the radio show.

  9. The question was nowhere near that specific. That's why, in addition to asking, "Who ya got?", the O.P. asks, "And why?" As in, use whatever criteria you want. So it's clearly just meant to be a fun thread putting out opinions about the three. Telling us, "The discourse is terrible" when we're doing what the thread is all about is like stopping a rap concert to correct the grammar.
  10. The question wasn't "Who is the better quarterback?" The question was "Who ya got?"
  11. The funny thing is, the PAC may not have a choice. They're running out of options.
  12. Here's a pretty good article on Graham's history and why he was fired: https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/how-ex-purdue-offensive-coordinator-graham-harrell-went-from-hot-coaching-name-to-midseason-firing/
  13. Without looking up everyone else's scores, #12 sounds pretty good to me. We have a bad loss, and we don't have a true quality win.
  14. 1. MWC 2. MWC 3. Sun Belt 4. C-USA 5. AAC 6. AAC 7. AAC 8. AAC 9. MWC 10. C-USA 11. MAC 12. AAC 13. C-USA 14. Sun Belt 15. MWC
  15. Just curious, what kind of statement are you looking for? Any kind of statement I can think of under the circumstances other than "we're all committed to the AAC" sounds to me like a desperate cry for attention.
  16. Gotta agree with this. TBH, this Florida State team is so bad, Tulsa might beat them. But Florida State is clearly a nationally recognized brand. When we curbstomped Arkansas a few years ago, we got a ton of media attention even though that Arkansas team was terrible.
  17. As of now, I'd give a pretty clear edge to the 2018 team. They started the season 6-1, and their losses were close. Until the bowl game, that is. If this team wins a bowl game, then yes, they will be better than any team Seth ever had.
  18. Just saying. We've given him a lot of grief for last season, a lot of it deserved, but he deserves some praise for a good game as well. Not counting garbage time, he essentially held Tulsa to 3 points.
  19. DT had a heroic performance in a bowl win; so in that respect, he beats out the other 2. But generally as a QB, and statwise, he doesn't compare to the other 2.
  20. Please. We've had a couple of great games in a row. Not even sure what you mean by "modern era." Maybe by the end of the year, we measure up very nicely. But as of now, I'd give it to the 2002 and 2013 teams by a pretty good margin.
  21. Fine. Cuz we get 4 years of him.
  22. Sam Houston State is hanging with Texas State, down 34-39 and about to get the ball
  23. How AAC held on to four schools Tim Pernetti had been through it before and knew what to expect. The first-year American Athletic Conference commissioner pulled off a major coup earlier this week when his conference held on to Memphis, South Florida, Tulane and UTSA despite Pac-12 overtures that became very public. It's obviously uncomfortable when another conference has eyes on your prized schools. The AAC has been on the receiving end of that dilemma multiple times. In just the last two years, the AAC lost Central Florida, Cincinnati, Houston and SMU to Power Fove conferences. How'd Pernetti hold off the Pac-12? It started with using his experience guiding Rutgers to the Big Ten as the school's athletic director to lay out to his conference exactly what would happen behind the scenes during the process. Pernetti, who probably deserves a statue for maneuvering Rutgers well above its weight class into the Big Ten, had the real-life experience to accurately presage what was to come once it became clear the Pac-12 would look eastward after grabbing Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State and San Diego State from the Mountain West. Pernetti was candid, stressed the Pac-12's projected TV rights numbers weren't anywhere close to concrete and earned trust in the room for his direct approach, according to multiple sources. How a conference commissioner handles a high-stress situation – and whether the conference members still have faith in the leadership – can have a major impact on realignment decisions. Just look at what happened to the Pac-12 more than a year ago for proof. In the end, Pernetti, who is aggressively trying to position the AAC moving forward, passed the test. Four in-demand schools decided they'd rather stick with what they knew than leave for promises of greener pastures out west. "I'd never bet against Tim," said one industry source familiar with the situation. "He's a very talented, smart guy." https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/insider-notebook-alabama-georgia-mega-preview-what-mack-browns-telling-recruits-how-aac-rebuffed-pac-12/
  24. The last entity I would trust to straighten out this mess is the U.S. Government. IIRC, that's who let the NIL genie out of the bottle in the first place.
